Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Sheesh!!! I just can't keep up with all of you and your movie quotes!!!! I don't really watch many movies...but you are quite an entertaining bunch!!

Welcome, Renee!!! Welcome to this quirky little group!! I think the closer Septemer 17 gets, the more giddy and silly we get!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: We're all getting SO excited!!!

Guess what all!!! It's starting to look like the house thing is going to work out, and I got the call to come in for part 2 of the 3 part job screening process!!!! :cool1: This thing has got me so jittery and frazzled!! :crazy2: :scared: :faint: I just can't take it!!! This job is such a GREAT opportunity for me!
I'm not sure if I mentioned anything about it before, but it's actually a huge Real Estate firm (Colliers Turley Martin Tucker), and they are nationwide with offices in Canada as well. One of their biggest clients is Edward Jones. (Like the Dome here in St. Louis) But what they are looking for is a Designer to do mostly interiors for their properties (partitions and furniture/casework layouts for mostly office spaces). The thing that excites me most about it is that this position would include the entire process. If I were to go work in a traditional architect's office, I would probably be assigned a desk with a computer, and told what to draw, and where. But with this job, I would have a part in not only the acquisition of the properties, but the design layouts (mind you, that part is VERY limited material-wise, because they pretty much use all the same materials in all of their properties) but I would also review code issues, talk with clients about what can and can't be done. Then once a layout is finalized, I also would solicit and review bids for the work as well!
I know this sounds really boring to most here, but for me, this is SUCH an exciting prospect!! So PLEASE continue your prayers and your pixie dust coming! I really really want this job!!!

Well, I've pretty much goofed off the last 20 minutes of the day here, so it's almost time to go home...I'll be PACKING this weekend!!! Everyone have a safe, wonderful weekend! :grouphug:

And Jenny...sounds like I will DEFINITELY be toting my waterproof camera on my excursions...I would LOVE to sneak a picture of the ever-elusive SNORKERLS!!! :earseek:
 :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Have a great weekend!!!

I don't know the first one... I got 3 and 4, though.

OK, no guesses on the "holy gun" quote? I'm too sad. The answer is "The Medallion." Very funny movie.

Let me try another one: "How would you like some harm to come to you? Terrible, terrible turtle harm, the kind that makes you cry out like a baby?"

Karen

Christal, that is WONDERFUL news!! It's not boring at all, I think it sounds exciting and especially being a part of the whole make up of it. :Pinkbounc WOW!! Here is some more pixie dust sent your way :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: GREAT news about the HOUSE!!!! :earseek: This is your lucky week!

Nope... turtle(s) plays a very small part in this movie.

Hi all, just getting ready to go in a few for Girls' Weekend! Hooray! Steve, isn't that from the movie with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matheaw (can't spell it)? I love both of those movies, but can't oh -- Grumpy Old Men. Is that it?

Well, I'm off and scared to know how many pages I'm gonna miss over the weekend.

Okay no life. Finally made it my sister's in West Palm and yes I am checking the disboards. Disloser as my dh calls me at times. Car made it - amen. It better after all that money I spent this morning.

Tammy, thanks about the kids.
Noworriesmate - from Dubai? My husband has been there for work several times. He said it is beautiful in town. He wants to take me there. You two will have to talk.

Jen - you must really be out shopping today. You told me this morning you were leaving, gone all day from the disboards. WOW!!!!! :rotfl2:

Well, decided against getting passports. I will wait and get them after the cruise. I can't risk not having my birth certificates for the cruise. I would hate to chase new ones at the last minute.

Okay my sister said I am being "rude and anti-social". Gotta run. I will check back in though.

Take care all...

KD -karen

Okay, I can't prove it but I sooooo just won for the longest post. Just ask Renee, I just PMed her to welcome her and fill her in and I am Exhausted!!!!
I love it when there are a bunch of posts to catch up on, conversely hate it when there is one! :maleficen I don't recognize the movies but am enjoying the game!
Jenny, The snorkelers thing was hilarious, yes. But special attention needs to be paid the the clever, witty and down right rightous talent that went into the diatribe. Fantastic :maleficen !
Wendy Have a great girls weekend. I am jealous!
Karen (KD)...good job on the pic. I told you it was a big hairy deal the first time. DId they let you use my site? Glad you got the car fixed. It is always someone with their hand in your pocket, isn't it!
Everyone else :wave2: karen, I want to hear about the homeschooling. All that comes to mind is this lady is either a saint or crazy. If it is the former, perhaps you can help Christal, if it is the latter, perhaps Jenny can help you :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Christal, I sooo hope it all works out for you. It is an exciting time in your life

I, unfortuately, wasn't shopping. I was working on a mural I am doing or dinosaurs. ALLLLL DDDAAAAYYYY! Poor me! ;)

Nope... turtle(s) plays a very small part in this movie.

Drat!!! :maleficen I was soooo sure it was ninja turtles, why I don't know... you have to tell!!!

ok, on my first on it was OVER BOARD....

Have a great weekend :grouphug:

Just got home from seeing Sky High; great movie... the kids all loved it.

But the best line of the night was before the movie. As we were taking our seats, I sat down with the popcorn, next to Joel (the almost 5yo) and he leaned over and said, "Mmm, you smell like Fandango." I thought I was going to die laughing. You never know what that boy will say.

OK, the "turtle harm" line was from The Master of Disguise, another one of the kids' favorite movies.

New one:
"My way's not very sportsman-like."
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
(Both are from the same movie.)

In tribute to Cristal's idea to telling a story by posting smilies, I'll use smilies for my guess:

The princess: :bride:

:teeth:

How about these (all from the same movie):
"I'm a raptor, doin' what I can, gonna eat everything till the appearance of man; yo you see me, I'm living below the soil, I'll be back but I'm comin' as oil!"

"I'm a hip old granny who can hip hop, be bop, dance till ya drop, and yo you make a wicked cup of cocoa."

"As I stand here and hold this slab of meat, I'm reminded of my Winston."
"How did Winston... pass?"
"Oh, poor Winston was fond of the drink. It was the drink that killed him."
"Ohhhhh, he was an alcoholic."
"No, he was hit by a Guinness trunk. So it was quite lit'rally the drink that killed him."

"Can you make me a woman?"
"Oh honey, I'm so happeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Great great movie. :)

Very good, Jenny!!

OK, I'm not gonna be nice... I have to guess this one. Mrs. Doubtfire! One of my favs.

Karen, mwah ha ha! You and I are villainous. I can blame Tammy though - she encouraged me to just guess. :confused3 What can I do? I must respect my DIS board elders. :worship: NO, I'm not calling Tammy old; just acknowleding the at times hard-to-reign-in impulsivity of my mid-20s.

I never used to think I was competitive... until a year or so ago when I gave myself an intervention and said, "Jenny, do you realize how BADLY you want to win?" :rotfl:

Thanks, Jen, btw, for acknowleding my diatribe. What can I say - I was an English major in undergrad and one of my profs was pushing me to go to grad school and get my Ph.D.! Obviously I went another way... but I love to write and hope to publish a book someday. We'll see.

Skycon, I KEEP FORGETTING to tell you - GREAT picture of your kids! Just beautiful.

New quote. This should be quite popular with the large group of lushes we seem to have in our midst:
"Yes.... but what happened to the rum?"

Night all! I'm off to play on the main board.

By the way, any guesses what the movies will be on our cruise? I guess I never realized before that all the movies, even the non-character ones are Disney films. (is that possible to have a non-character movie? Isn't ALL of Hollywood FULL of characters? :rotfl2: Oh, I slay me.... I promise I won't make such awful jokes until you all are good and "happy" with a few drinks in ya.) Herbie, National Treasure, POTC, The Pacifier, etc. - all Disney flicks. Duh - just takes me a while I guess.

Anyways, I'm hoping Sky High is on the cruise, Karen, because it looks cute to me. I like super hero movies - Spiderman, X-Men, The Incredibles, Van Helsing, etc. etc.

Jenny, I haven't a clue about your rum quote. I'll probably kick myself when I learn the answer. :scratchin

Super hero movies, huh? Did you watch "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?" That was a fun one.

Here's some new ones (all from same movie):
"You! Higher mammal, can you read?"
"If you have any poo, fling it now."
"What is a bite on the butt amongst friends?"

I have to give someone else a turn at the computer. I'll be back later. Talk amongst yourselves.

Karen

Hi! I just got home from work again. All day long I went shopping with my boys for school clothes, what a difference from yesterday's fiasco with my girls. Now I can sit back and relax because school shopping is officially DONE! Thank you for reassuring me with DD Alison. Sorry but I would not have known that movie because(don't hurt me or think I'm a wacko) I never saw ET. I know, how can that be but I never did!

Oh yeah could you bring some coins for my four kids and I will pay you for them. I think that would be neat. I wanted to get Bahamian coins last year when we took the cruise for my kids but I forgot. Now I am trying to get some somehow so if you know how to get some could you please tell me. I also last year lost one of my pressed coins from MGM for one of my kids and now they fight over who doesn't get one from MGM. I posted on another thread to see if someone could get me one and zI'd pay for it but noone would do it for me. I was thinking if anyone is going to MGM before the cruise I would appreciate them getting an MGM pressed coin and I would pay for it. I'm not going into the parks this year because I think we are coming down in three years with my sister and two nephews so I don't want to waste it and I want to save it for our Las Vegas trip next year.

Well, Good Night everyone. I start work at 6:00 am tomorrow morning and I just got home tonight from work so I'm tired. I need my strength becuase I have to work with my 15 year old son tommorrow and sometimes he gives me a headache becuase he doesn't like me being his mom and boss at the same time. I guess I am harder on him but I don't want everyone to say he gets special treatment and I want him to have work ethics for when he is older.

P.S.Boy, we really are starting to post alot. Since last night I had alot to catch up on. Okay, I'm tired because I am really going on and on again, SORRY! Night everyone.

Lorra

Madagascar!

two new ones - both from same movie.
"Mosiqutos are a protected species" and "aliens are attacking my house"

morning all :sunny:

Crystal the job sounds great - will send pixie dust your way... :wizard:

Karen, Dubai is definetly worth a visit, but do it during winter!

Renee - Welcome :wave2:
