Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

hi everyone

Sweet Sue i am sorry to hear of your loss. :rose:

Tammy - good luck :shamrock: and keep that determination.

Jen i got the list - thanks

well its been a busy week with DH's Aunt and cousin here. fun but could not get near the computer for a week...

i find myself obsessing about packing lists...
i think the formal gear is worked out for all but DS - although DH may have to loose the Jacket and just do the formal shirt thing...
am working on very basic Pirate gear.
have stuff for the parks and stuff for the cruise.
baby stuff, camera's, rechargers, toliletries.
OH NO it is all too much.....
perhaps we could leave it all behind and just go shopping in Orlando, but then we would still need to find a way get it all home.

I think i will have to try Jen's "old scales" diet - but does the number entered result in the corrisponding size change? with smaller clothes i could fit more in.

time to sleep now.
hope you all have a great day.

Sweet Sue so sorry to hear of your loss, I know I really miss my DGM.

Also glad you checked on your Fl. rate and can have it changed, good for you!! :bounce: I cannot wait till Monday morning!! I just hate saying that to wish away the weekend but this is different!!!

Just got though eatting a red grapefruit..yumm!! But still hungry, why is it that the diet monster screams at you to eat on the weekends???

Can't work outside for too long at a time the heat is unbearable!! So I read my passporter instead, hey it's just so I know what to pack, do, and oh yeah eat!!! :rolleyes1 Did I mention.. I hate diets!! ::yes:: Bummer!!

Sue, So sorry about your DGM, it's hard. :rose:
The diets plan's premise is on mind over matter (the matter being your behind). It has not been clinically tested yet. Just thought I would give it a try. Actually, just getting dressed for my "date" and dear lord, I need to lose 10 pounds minimum! Got to get focused!
I agree with Missy, go in sweet but still armed with information.
Michelle, Good to hear from you....I can't imagine packing for three weeks (right?) I am going to try the 2.5 gallon zip lock idea. They are supposed to be comparble to the space bags. We will see. I figure for $3.50, it is worth the try.

Hi everyone!!!

Sue, I am so sorry to hear about your DGM, I know what you are going through, I lost mine about a year ago. Watching her go through everything was very rough and I don't want to ever have to see someone go through that again.

I think we've got our schedule figured out for the cruise. Flying out on Friday really changes things around. Worked on packing list some, but will wait til it's a little bit closer.

Later,
Emily

Hi! I'm very sorry to hear about your grandmother, it has been ten years since I lost mine and I still miss her alot.
I think I'm going to pck one suitcase for our motel for Friday so not all of us need to open our suitcases everyday of our trip.
Well, I'm off to bedI start work at 5:00 am

Lorra

Sue- thoughts and prayers out to your family for the loss of DGM. :grouphug:

Not much happening here. HOT!! Pool, sunburn. That descirbes today in a nutshell.
This cruise is getting close, and I LIKE IT!!! :teeth: Approx. 55 days.

BRAD

Thanks for the sympathy. The services won't be until next Saturday, so I will still have a day or two to hang out before I leave for St. Pete.

I was looking at the ordering website and I wanted to know if anyone was interested in sharing the magnets and postcards. The 10-pack of magnets makes them $1 each and I thought they would be good for our doors. The postcards come with 8 in a pack and are $6 (so a bit less than $1 per). I'll purchase those packs and bring aboard for sharing. I'll need two magnets and one postcard (maybe 2), so the rest are up for grabs!

*** Update ****: There is a coupon code SUMSAV that gets $5 off of your order! I'm not sure how long it is good for so I'm ordering now!

*** Update to the Update ***: I just placed our order, so I can sent $5 coupons to up to 5 email addresses. Let me know if anyone still needs a coupon.

Sweet Sue

Brad,
Sounds like a pretty good day to me. It seemed like it took forever to get the shirt but in actuality, it was probably 7 days (maybe a couple more or less).
We are supposed to have a week of high 80s!! :jumping1: That is going to feel great! Hopefully, this ridiculous heat is over!
Off to Loveland today to go to the park and play with grandma, grandpa and cousins, aunts.......should be fun. It is an hour and a half from here, so that part is not so great...coffee, coffee, coffee.
Have a great day. I will check in later.
One more thing...
I want to have the transportation company pick us up as early as possible on Sat (after) so we can get to the parks and start enjoying. I don't prefer, but don't mind rolling all my bags off. What do you think is a good time to tell them? Is 8:00 to early? I know Disney does their disembarcing different...

Hi everyone,

Sue, I might buy one of the postcards off of you. I'd like to have one for my scrapbook.

Jen, have a safe and fun trip. Don't drink too much coffee. 8 am may be a little early. If you are going to eat breakfast, late seating doesn't serve breakfast until 8. If you skip breakfast, then you might be able to make it.

Temps here today are supposed to be 97 with a heat index of over 100. :cold: I wish. I think today is going to be spent in the pool.

Talk to everyone later,
Emily

SweetSue......I am sorry for your loss, you are in my prayers as well as your family.

Jen I think you could run down and get your kids something to eat at the buffet and bring it back to the room while you finish getting ready. I believe it should open at some ungodly time! We did not go to our breakfast seating last time........what a good decision. By that point who wants to eat another medeocre DCL breakfast! I think you could absolutely catch an 8 o'clock pick up if not earlier. Put a thread on the main board, they will know. I like to stay late on the boat. I feel like it ruins my last night if we have to get up too early! You know I like to say, "just one more" a couple of times before I actually go to bed. It is kind of a buzz kill if you have to get up at 5!!

Got 2 dresses from my niece for my 12 year old to wear on formal and semi-formal night! Woo Hoo, that was a bargain! I think she is all set up for clothes now, maybe just a pair of nice shoes. Went through my stuff and I have more than enough. Still have things with tags that I bought for last year and that darn Jeanne came through! I forgot about some of the outfits. Both of the boys have suits and so we are very set up.

Have a good Sunday all. Wouldn't it be cool if they had an outdoor non-denominational service in the middle of the ocean! They do that were we go to the beach in North Carolina.

Missy

Hey all,

Well, we have returned from Hocking Hills. As others have stated, both HH and Cedar Point are both in Ohio, truly making it one of the greatest states in the union. :) We had a good time this weekend. Rented a luxurious cabin with a jacuzzi on the front porch, which we used at least 9-10 times over two nights and three days! That was fun. :)

We went hiking to what we thought would be a waterfall. Alas, as Karen mentioned, we saw a trickle but no Niagara. It was fun to hike back into the caverns and such. Then we decided to be adventurous and hike the "rim trail" which was a 2 1/2 mile circle above the gorge we hiked (which surprisingly had a paved trail 3/4 of the way). The rim trail took us on the top of the cliffs that surrounded the gorge, so we were walking on cliffs 200 feet high! We started the trail by reading that the trail tooks us dangerously close to cliff edges and some people have falling, resulting in "serious injury and death." It was some hardcore hiking. And when they said dangerously close, they weren't kidding. There were several times when the trail was about 3 feet wide, it was sandy/covered with pine needles (so slippery), and then a corner came and the trail shrank to maybe a foot wide. It was amazing but pretty scary at times. We survived, but it took us 2 hours to hike the rim of the gorge. We had some amazing views of the HH valley. The jacuzzi was a blessing to our legs/feet after that. Played Skip-Bo, had some good meals, watched DVDs... it was a great trip all around. But it's nice to be home. :)

Sue, I'm sorry about your DGM.
Sherrie, it was good to hear from you a few days ago!
Tammy, keep us posted on the TA encounter of an irritating kind tomorrow.
Jen, hope you're having fun at Loveland with the fam.
Emily, congrats on the driving!
Brad, how's the sunburn?
Wendy, did BIL arrive intoxicated or not?
Trisha and Steve, when was Holiday World? Hope you had/have fun.
Karen, I'm amazed someone from CA visited HH. Our cabin had notes from previous guests, and one couple who honeymooned in the same cabin was from Savannah, GA. Are you getting adjusted yet?
Michelle, hope you've recovered from the family visit. Don't stress about the packing - as Missy said a while ago, if you don't take it, you may discover you wouldn't have needed it in the first place.
Missy, went to Polaris this evening before coming home. Love that mall! Glad you're getting bargains for the kids' clothes.
Lorra, hope work went well. 5 AM is EARLY!
John (Ohio), Paul (Hawaii - sooooo jealous), Christal, Susan - where are you? Hope you're okay.
Christal - you said you were going to get your hair done up? I thought the pics on the Kodak gallery show you with the really short hair and Jen with the longer dark hair? Did I read wrong?
Donna (ragdoll), you came out of lurk mode once - don't go toward the light... come toward the Mickey Head! :)

I hope I got you all. If not, forgive me.

I'm going to post another in a second that is NON-FLUFF!!!

Hey all,

Well, we talked a LOT about DCL this weekend. Had some questions. I'm going to post this out on the main board too, but wanted to get your thoughts as well.

The Passporter gives the St. Maarten Shipwreck Snorkel Cove Tour an "active, sports" rating. Seems like they drop you farther out to sea. Anyone done this? What's it like? Can two overweight (yet capable of hiking 200 ft cliffs for two hours) women do it?

Anyone done the Butterfly farm tour at SMarrten? Thinking of switching to that.

How about the 5-Star St. John Snorkel and Beach Adventure? DCL has two excursions that go to Trunk Bay, but we're signed up for the 5-Star. The other one leaves at the same time (7:40 am) and lasts 5 hours. Passporter states you have 1.5 hours to swim, snorkel, etc. The one we're doing gets you to Trunk Bay on the Leylon Sneed. Lasts 4-4.5 hours. So do you get more time on TB since you're on a faster boat this way, or still just 1.5 hours to play?

Finally, anyone doing Dolphin Encounter? DSis saw on Dateline or something that the dolphins in these experiences aren't always treated well or housed properly. Also read they can get human diseases. FACT or FICTION?

T.I.A.!

We lived in Dayton for almost 5 years (our second time there... 2 1/2 years the first), so Hocking Hills was a nice little weekend jaunt for us at the time (I was 8 months pregnant with my youngest then!).

Still getting adjusted to California. It is SO different from Omaha. The weather in my little neck of the woods is cooler than further inland here in CA, so that is nice... and it is definitely cooler than Omaha is right now. But the biggest adjustment we are having to make is with church.... we just haven't found a congregation nearby that feels like "home." The closest one is a 40 minute drive with no traffic. And when the bulk of our relationships/friendships come from church, that 40 minutes can be a big obstacle. It's very hard not to be homesick and depressed.

Being called to play a game, so I need to run..

Karen

Sue, I'll take a magnet and a postcard if you have enough.....

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, here we're pooped, this heat is killer!! :sunny:

I really have to start looking around for a dress and some other things I've been procrastinating over. ::yes:: DH is probably set to go, so is DD but DS and myself are a little low on certain things.

Truth has to be told how many shoes will you end up taking????? It's actually scary my DD has a fetish for shoes so it is going to be interesting to find out what her total ends up to be. :scared1:

To everyone a good night....I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow with TA  :scared: :crazy2: :faint:

Tammy, i wish you good luck for tomorrow. It was a hard weekend of work but now I got the next two days off to swim in my pool. Now the next two days are going to rain ans be cold with my luck. Well, I have to go, BYE!

Lorra

Shmora, Have a great two days off :bounce:
Jenny, I will not even try to match you in recognizing everyone! You are queen. That hike would have aged me prematurely (no nasty comments). Sorry, I don't know about the excursions. I think Christal is the brunette with the longer hair. :bride:
Missy, That is what I was thinking with the buffet. I don't want to get off either but we are doing all four Disney parks in two days (I know, I know) and we have a tight agenda we have to keep! :rotfl2: We went ahead and paid for the hotel for the night before so we will drop off the bags and go (and Trisha and Steve are going to hang out there until they need to be at the airport)...that way I am not making them come back early and sit at the airport
Sue, I will take a magnet and postcard if you have enough. You may end up making money :p . Hope you are feeling okay (better, happy, you know okay) with DGM's passing. :rose: We are thinking of you.
We just had the Biggest lightning storm. I am driving back from the DIsney store (buying Natalie a Sleeping Beauty costume) and freaking out about all the lightning (in AWE)...when I come home, where is my husband...MOWING THE LAWN. I swear I almost killed him!
Loveland was fine...I got to here the story of my socially retarded (seriously and clinically) BIL and his first flight last month. He threw up the whole flight! They kept having people pass them brf bags...so apparently he didn't go to the bathroom! Can you imagine being by him on the plane!!!! :scared1: :scared: :crazy2: :faint:

Hi all, this vacation cannot get here soon enough! The everyday stresses of life are really getting to DH and me. We thought that life would be a breeze when our kids were grown. Ha! The joke is on us. Adult kids can be more worrisome than teenagers! We cannot wait to get on that ship! Ahh, I can just imagine the stress fading away as we sail out to sea...

ragdoll I hear you about older kids ::yes:: but your scaring me, :scared1: I keep thinking if I can just get them through college all will be well :goodvibes unfortunately your not giving me much hope  Funny thing is you raise them to believe in family and know there heart is always close to home. But that doesn't mean eat you out of house and home!! :faint: I just keep telling myself "this too shall pass" tell me am I kidding myself???

Jen, my DH does stupid things like that, when he gets caught I usually call him a big goof

Lorra, have a GREAT two days off, lay by the pool, get a tan, have a cold drink, dream of being on the cruise and let all your worries fad away :boat: :rockband: :drinking1 :dancer: As you can tell...I'm ready!!!

Jenny, sounds like you had a BLAST, and I be that jacuzzi did feel won-der-ful ::yes:: Trying to talk DH into getting a hot tub on the back porch  I think I have made some head way...I told him we could rent it out to other family members!!! Funny thing was he stopped and thought about it!! Told you he was a pirate pirate:

Well today is the day (TA) and I am obviously awaiting the opening of one certain office. Don't worry I will be nice, no matter what I will have a good attitude and remember my upbringing....Unless....I get the wrong answer. :crazy2: Then I will not be responsible for any or all of my actions. :smooth:

Will let you know what happens :wave2:
