Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Wendy, Sorry it is freezing up the computer. I forgot you have dial up. Just delete it. It is not important, it is just the images for iron on if you needed them. Sorry. I never have problems getting things, so I forget that others do!

Well I did survive!!! That of 'course its the best news..

Thank all of you for your well wishes and Jen Thank you for the BIG red Good luck sign. I wasn't able to post due to the last 48 hrs being a blur and I start reading to catch up and low and behold this lovely sign appears and it was just nice to hear that you guys care. :cloud9: This is the best group ever...Thank you guys!!

The party was a huge success..everyone told me they had a good time (or they lied) I told my husband if we live to see our 50th..we're catering in!!! :love2:

The funniest thing happened for this whole year I have been saying my DH and I have been married for 25 yrs. That is why we took a secluded mountain retreat on April 14th then came back and went on a cruise on Carnival in April. Had it engraved on a clear anniversary display case.

Well anyway in the middle of one of my DH speech's his sis slipped him an additional paragraph about his parents had a child that had been married for 26 years and he looks up across the room to me dripping into the punch bowl trying to keep up with the heavy request for more punch..more food..more...more and says who's that? Me? Us? :scared1: and everyone laughs so he then proceeds to tell everyone that I've been telling him that it was our 25th this year so I could go on another cruise. 'Course by then everyone wanted a reponse from the wrinkled flop of a women in the back trying to convince some guy the chicken wings are not spicy!! (Thinking in the back of my mind that I will survive at least till Sept.) :drinking1

So I replied "well our life has been like today..a blurr!!" So I lost a year I miscalculated...

Guess it goes to prove as you get older certain things shut down. Glad it was the memory!!!! Not a vital organ!!

Anywho, we too are starting to work on a list this week..and that is the very best news.

That is a very cute story! I'm glad your party was a success and now it is over. Talk about stressful but now you can concentrate on your 25th anniversary cruise.Ha!Ha!

That's what I get for working and vacationing. 10 PAGES of posts. It's awesome to see the excitement (except the catching up part)!

DGM is still hanging on, but not well. She's been moved to the "hospice" or terminally ill ward and is only expected to last two weeks or less. I'm hoping to at least get business out of the way and if she's still around next weekend, I'll go visit. After all, what's another bit of travel between Dallas, Nashville and Memphis? 4 trips in two weeks - piece of cake!

Speaking of which, caught up on all the posts about cooking vs. lawns vs. man badges. Have to say I WIMP at lawns. When I turned 14, I developed an allergy to grass - and ever since the thought of touching that icky green stuff gives me hives! But cooking - I  to cook! As long as I don't have to clean. YUCH! So, if you all run across a D-loving single dude that loves to mow lawns and clean after messy cooks - I'm here! :Pinkbounc

Only on page 79 and have to go. DD is calling. We had to get up at 4:30AM to catch our flight and it's almost 11pm now, so it's time to go. Got a bit of a breather, I'll be in town tomorrow and don't leave until 6:20am on Tuesday. WOW - 24 HOURS AT HOME!!!! :cheer2:

Miss you all! Will chat soon.

Sweet Sue

Tammy, or you could just celebrate your 30th -- but b/c it's such a big deal you need to celebrate it for several years...

Sweet Sue, sounds horrendous (your travel schedule) -- would've been exciting at age 25 I think, but more power to you! Does Nana stay with DD when you are travelling? I may have asked this already...I'm always interested in childcare arrangements b/c we could not live w/o our wonderful babysitter. Our DD doesn't have a grandma so she is everything to her.

Hi y'all... just checking in. I just realized I haven't done any planning for the 2 days we'll be at WDW before the cruise. Since the first day is Joel's birthday, I figure I better at least make a PS for Chef Mickey's! So I'm working on that today.

Other than that, no big news here. Just trying to keep the natives from being restless.

Karen

Missy, I say this with absolutely no authority at all , but, I don't see why you couldn't take whatever you want. it's not a cooler, but a square, cold suitcase! :teeth:
Tammy, Glad you survived (by the skin of your chinny, chin, chin). Sounds like, through all the chaos, you have a pretty good life. It's moments like these....!
Sue, Glad to hear from you. Missed you this week. Just keep saying...this to shall pass, this too shall pass....
Well, since everyone was busy and not posting this weekend and I thought it would be just to pathetic to post to myself, I spent way to much time on my packing list (looking at all the others online and compiling a list of what worked into my life, making an emergency phone number and account name list, things to do before hand list....). my husband bought an ipod so spent his time downloading music to it. I am an ipod widow. natalie had a friend over all weekend and Trenton was grounded to just reading or writing because I got a hellacious note from his teacher about his behavior (first week of school :earseek: . mostly talking and impulse control. Our motto for the weekend then became....if you're not miserable, I'm not doing my job. Hopefully, today is better for him. Oh course, he was sick this morning. I'm sure it was stress, poor baby. Gotta love 'em and be greatful these are the worst problems we have.

Good morning everyone. Busy weekend here. Nothing major though.

Dad got a new truck this weekend. It is gorgeous. Silver Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Daytona Edition. I love it, he loves it, we all love it.

Only packing list I done so far is to figure out what I'm wearing at dinner each night, but alot of that will also be what I wear during the day. Thus allowing me to take fewer things, making more room for others.

Jen, what type of iPod did Mike get? Regular, mini, photo? If it is a mini, what color did he get? We have a 3rd Generation iPod that will be with us. If you have a digital camera and it's not a iPod photo and don't want to invest in extra memory cards or want to pay Shutters to load them to a CD, Belkin makes a memory card reader that he needs to get. It's a little pricey, but it was so worth it last year. You just plug it into the iPod, slide your memory card in the slot, and save all your pics to the iPod's hard drive. You can't view them this way, but it is a great storage place. I think Jason said there is a setting you have to go in on the iPod and change to be able to do this, but not sure. :music: Also, the new list looks awesome.

What a disappointment this weekend. No announcement. :guilty: I was hoping. Oh well, maybe when we're not expecting it...

Later everyone,
Emily

Hello everyone. Same old, same old around here. How did DH and I celebrate our 34th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday? By babysitting our DGD's of course! It's OK though. They are the best thing to come from our years together! We did go out for dinner on Sunday with a couple of old friends that we haven't seen in ages. Had a nice time.

I rarely post separately to anyone because I cannot keep everyone straight. So I will just say that I hope everyone has a good week.

Am I the only one who doesn't make a packing list? I also wait to pack until the night before we leave. Anyone else not worry about packing? Funny thing is, I am a big worrier in general. Packing just doesn't get to me. Figure if I forget something I can probably due without it or can buy it.

Donna

Interesting! I think he got 30MB and Mac (which does do the pic) I never thought about being able to up load and store. I will have to have him look into that. I use my 512 all up on the weekends and that is 300+ photos. I was going to borrow my dad's two 512 and mine and I still wasn't sure I would have enough for two weeks. Goooooddd toooo knnnooowww!
Karen, your kids (well two of them) are the same ages as mine. The good thing about the meet on Sat is the kids will have familiar faces for the kids club! I hope everyone can make it.
Ragdoll, Congratulations! My mom agrees with you. She says the best thing to ever happen to her was grandkids. I disagree... I think it was ME   !!! In response to your packing comment...my mouth literally fell open. Need I say more!

yes....okay, ready for a laugh...I just got a message saying MY message was to short. That has never happened to me before!

Oh Tammy, BTW, I read in Passporter and maybe here that you CANNOT bring a hardsided cooler on board unless it is for medication. Instead folks pack soft-sided coolers or there is a cute large wheeled softside cooler on Disney Direct right now, on sale for $19.99 that many people have said they are bringing.

I used to be a big packing freak as well .....somehow I just tried to slow down and realize that what we don't have we don't need. Before we kept reproducing and we had an extra bedroom, I would start months ahead buying new things and putting them in the extra bedroom! Ugh, if I only had that space I still might be packing months ahead! This year I am bound and determined to not overpack! We will be sending out clothes to be laundered everyday, but I will not overpack!! I thought about each of us just using a carry on suitcase and not checking luggage. I have determined this would be impossible. I am going to strive for that and take one very large empty to fill with beverages when we get to Florida. Might have to add a hang up bag as well for formal night..........ok there I go packing too much. It is crazy!

Two things I couldn't live without.........
1. walkie-talkies (so we know what our kids are doing and they can contact us all the time)

2. flip flops

Have a good day all.........

Missy

I bet noone can top this one. I read at different places on the Dis Boards that it is a good idea to take a blender to make your own drinks because they were alot of money. I did and what a mistake! I toted around on our ten day vacation a glass blender and best of all it survived. The drinks I didn't think were alot on the cruise and we don't drink often anyway. To top it all off, when we left Florida on the plane home our first plane had a problem of someone's luggage was on the plane and that person wasn't on the plane with his luggage so we sat on the runway for two hours. We missed our flight from Atlanta to Philadelphia so we were stuck in Atlanta airport for an extra 8 hours lugging our carryons around with us with a heavy blender in one of them. We definitely over packed and we didn't even touch half of it on our whole vacation so I learned my lesson, pack light and no blenders.

Shmora

Shmora........I agree about the blender on a cruise! I have, more than once, taken my blender on vacation! However, only to quiet beach rentals where you must make your own fruitie if you want one! We take some adult beverages with us, but we leave the boat drinks to the staff! Funny story, although I am not sure you were laughing about it at the time. :rotfl:

Missy

We got our fancy, new, professional camera today!!!!!!! (They need a photographer smiley)

The work day is almost over!!!!!!! I can finally go home. I love my job, but sometimes you just want to stay at home.

I'm so ready to go!!!!!

Let's see, I haven't answered this question yet, "What 2 things do I need the most on the cruise?" Probably my flip flops and a camera.

It's getting close: 1 month, 4 weeks according to my ticker.

Can't wait to see and meet everyone. :earboy2:

Emily

Howdy to all.
Still raining here! Otherwise, nothing going on.
I have ditched the packing list. I have pinkie sweared and spit shaked, not to overpack also. A majority of the clothes we brought last time were not even worn.
Tammy- glad to hear you survived the party.
Sue- thoughts and prayers from our family to yours.
Jen- only 3 or 4 posts in the past 24 hours. Are you feeling o.k.? :rotfl:

Check back later,
BRAD
