Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

My you guys have been busy since I was last on -- a few hours ago! AND, it got me in trouble. Diet going fairly well, did succumb to 2 ice cream sandwiches as dinner, but otherwise good today THEN, I think, I'll just have a few chips and dip while I catch up and next thing I know I'm reading away, the chips are gone and 1/2 the NEW CONTAINER of dip is gone. Bad, bad. May have to skip weigh-in manana.

Jenny, LOVE your magnets, love the Disney font, like either of the last 2. I'm very excited. DD will love it!!!!! Also, where did you request your rotation? I want to avoid Animator's Palate as much as I can. I don't know why, but I get claustrophobic in there. I'm fine in the other restaurants. And do you know when I can try to switch to early seating? I think I read somewhere I have to wait until the day before.

OK, excursions -- St. Martin we've booked on the Lord Sheffield with Jen and Trisha's families and I'm really excited. There is a great thread abt LS over on cruise critic. Plus, that night is pirate night so a pirate ship is very appropriate -- imo. St. Thomas I've booked Capt. Nautica snorkeling for the morning run and then plan to shop around a bit. Last year our excursion took the whole day so we didn't get any shopping, which was just fine -- it was a great excursion, but it isn't offered anymore. I have a feeling the family that ran it went back to the Carolinas. On CC I've reserved the family pack of snorkeling gear, rafts and bikes, plus end of the day massages which are a big maybe. (Depends on how the shopping goes in St. Thomas?!)

Booked Palo brunch for Monday at 11am (didn't want to eat too much the day of formal night and not be able to get into my dress...) and dinner on Thursday at 6:30pm. DH wanted to do dinner close to the end of the cruise. Our anniv is Tuesday, but we didn't want to miss pirate night -- and what better way to celebrate than with the best thing we've given each other? DD, the spoiled, princess, terrorist pirate. Don't know what night to break out the matching Mickey duds? B/C I'm so short I'll probably end up having the dress cut off short. I did have fun shopping on disney direct today.

Brad, I think Passporter rates the butterfly tour pretty high. I'll check and let you know. From what I've read, I'd like to spend a few days on the French side -- just eating and hanging out.

Jen, you and your signature look awesome. I just can't bear to go through the process considering I have dial-up. Remind me your WDW/DCL schedule. Can you ship some of the extra clothes home? Or store some in a locker at the airport or whatever hotel you are staying at? OK, I know I'm totally obnoxious, but after 12 years as a lawyer I constantly see everything as a problem/solution. My poor family...

I have made a neat (to me) list of "extras" not to forget gleaned from "tips" off the big DCL board. I'll make it into a word or excel doc and share if anyone is interested. Just stuff like, bubbles for sail away party, collapsible hamper, night light, medicine (i.e., children's tylenol, benedryl, cough med., bandaids), air freshner ... and the like.

Oh, and Christal, growing up my dad was a travelling salesman and used a CB radio a lot and what they would all say to each other I always loved, "catch you on the flip flop." I had forgotten abt that until your pun reminded me. Yay!

Sweet dreams friends...

Good morning everyone

One more day til Friday, TGIF!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Jenny, great job on the magnets those look awesome!

For all of us with Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder, we're okay, we're just really prepared. So everybody plan away.

For those keeping track, isn't today weigh in day?

Emily

It sure is Emily.....
Weigh In!
I am happy to weigh in this week. :cool1: :cool1: 4 1/2 lbs :cool1: :cool1:
Oh yeah! It's a dent. To bad you can't lose weight like that every week huh! The first week is always fun!

Christal, What I do when I am way behind is open up another window for the reply and read out of one and pop over and type in the other when I need to respond to something....Does that make any sense.

Wendy, We are flying in Thurs night, hard day at WDW, cruise sat to sat, Sat back to WDW, Sun Sea World, Monday through Wednesday Universal (these should be more relaxing as we are staying on-site and can walk back to the hotel and rest). I figure, we are going to be hot and wet (seems like everything soaks you) so tank tops and nylon shorts. They don't take up to much room, right. Nothing cute needs to go for these days (I can always borrow out of cruise clothes. I thought I would pack for the cruise in one bag (maybe two people together ... :rotfl2: that sounds unrealistic, doesn't it) and pack park clothes together. We will see.

I have got to get packed for tomorrow. Natalie and I (and some friends) are going up in the mountains by Wyoming (Red Feather Lakes) to girlscout camp Mike and Trenton are going to Estes Park to hike and play). They get a hotel, we get a tent....short straw goes to Jennifer! :cheer2: It will be fun. Now starts the crazy time....Next Friday we are going to Vail coming back Tuesday morning then school starts Thursday. We are leaving Friday at noon for Steamboat Springs then the next weekend I have my friends kids (not the three crazy ones). Then a couple weekends off. I love living in Colorado but there is sooooo much to do and not enough time to do it! Poor me! :earboy2:
Did I mention 4 1/2 lbs :bounce: :bounce:

Jen, I saw your questions about the Rasul & Tropical Rainforest over in the main forum, so I thought I come here and answer them for you.

The Tropical Rainforest is just kind of a fancy steam room. It's got tiled loungers you can sit in and steam away.

The Rasul is another story. Now just so you know I never done this and some is what I've heard from other cruisers. The Rasul is a private and I mean private spa treatment. They encourage couples to try it together. From what I've heard you're in a private treatment room (door locks by the way, wink, wink) there are different muds your supposed to try on each other and you just let them soak in. There is a shower in there for you to rinse each other off (wink wink again). I think you get like an hour in there and at ten till a CM will come knock on the door to warn you and when the hour is up they will open the door. I think you also get passes to the Tropical Rainforest with this treatment.

I heard some interesting stories people have told  regarding the Rasul.

Hope that clears that up.
Emily

That kind of gives the saying "If you are not dirty, you're not having fun" a new meaning! Thanks for the explantation.

By the way, my husband is neither as rosy cheeked or unnaturally red as he appears in the photo. It was on the second formal night after daaaayyyyys in the sun!

Hello everyone,

Well, the anxiously-awaited software program for creating more magnets has arrived! Yay!!!!!

Got a call from the doctor today. My bloodwork came back normal - no problems with my electrolytes, thyroid, or anemia. I'm good to go as far as those things go. I'm still waiting on the report for the monitor.

I thought the Disney font for the magnet might be a hit. Keep those opinions coming!

Surprisingly enough, that's all from me for now.

Oh wait! I just remembered your questions, Wendy. For our dining rotation, we had our TA put in a request with DCL. He did this and sent us an email confirming he made the request. According to him, we won't know our rotation until the day OF the cruise - it will be listed on our KTTW cards that they give us when we check in at the counter.

Okay, NOW that's all. Interesting about the spa treatments. I hope they hose down that room between appts! :scared:

Yesterday was last day for free shipping, but today the extra discount went from 10 to 20%, so it's probably a wash...for anyone still wanting to shop.

Last year we did the REAS pkg and when Debbie from DCL called us to book Palo and spa ressies, she asked what rotation we wanted -- she was wrong on Formal night (she thought the Antigua cruise would have the W'ern schedule) so I requested and got APL rotation, but it was just fine.

Hey what was that web link to the different doors that people had made?? Does anyone know?? :confused3

Where is everybody today? We are 8 posts short of 200 in the past 2 weeks
Beautiful and sunny here today. I have six children in residence :earseek: They are being pretty good.
Has anyone given thought to pirate night yet? Are you dressing up or having the kids dress up? I am just thinking that the costume stores will probably have those cheap pirate costumes out by then (Partycity, etc). What are your thoughts.

Thanks Jen for the site :Pinkbounc We're looking toward hand making our doors since we're not to computer savy :badpc: Still will use the Flip Floppin' Castaways :goodvibes

We're going to buy Pirate gear prior to boarding and not show to DGS till that night

DS girlfriend sooo excited....guess that abbreviation would be DSGF!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey...know most of you have younger children :goodvibes but DS 19, DSGF 19, and DD 23 are curious about how they could find out about people their age going?? :confused3 Knowing I'm talking to Dis specialists and all I knew someone had that answer :cool1:

We won't make it to Pirate night, that is when we have Palo scheduled.

Tammy, DH & I are and will be 21 by the cruise. He is 21 & I'll turn 21 two weeks before the cruise.

Good night everyone,
Emily

Hi everyone-
Great job on the weight loss, Jen. I only lost another pound this week, but I guess its good I didn't gain it. Not bad though, for not really trying very hard. I have done pretty well at eating today. Speaking of eating,I am starving right now. :rotfl:
Jenny- I am glad your blood tests had good results and good luck on the monitor results. I like the magnets with the Disney fonts the best.

Brad- Great to hear from you. We are planning a trip to Holiday World in a couple of weeks. Gotta try out their new wave pool. We are going to try camping this year at Rudolph's lake to save money. We'll see how it goes.

Sherrie- I am glad you are still lurking but I hope to hear from you once and a while too. Sending you good wishes :teleport:

As far as the meet, isn't there and area on deck 7 that is sort of private that we could meet at? Since this is my first DCL cruise I don't know where would be the best place but I have seen this place mentioned on other threads. I am just offering up a suggestion.
Anyway, I hope all are well. Talk to you all later.

Mornin' all. Beautiful here too. Off to the lake again this evening. Let's tawk abt the meet -- Are we bringing our kiddos (if applicable)? If so, I say let's meet around the Mickey pool so they can splash around with each other and the bigger kids can take advantage of the slide. We could even do something really simple like tie green yarn around our wrists for ID -- and a lot of us will recognize each other from the photos. In fact, if we do the green yarn thing, we can ID each other at the port bldg too! It's also next to the beverage station, a pool bar and Pluto's dog house (for snacks).

Pirate night -- I would certainly like to dress DD up in something. They give out bandanas at dinner which might be enough for me and DH. Actually, he'll probably wear one of his Harley doo-rags. Mainly, I'd like to get a little patch for DD. Me, depending on the temp, I was thinking jeans, jean shorts or capris, a halter or tank top and a bandana around my head. We ought to be able to find some cute bright summer printed scarves on sale toward Labor Day. Maybe sooner.

Oh, and Jen, congrats on the weight loss, too! I didn't lose a thing this week, due in part to the chip and dip fiasco, I'm sure. Unfortunately it's harder for me to lose weight in the summer esp when we go to the lake b/c of hamburgers, hot dogs, DH's delicious guacamole, etc. Must learn to enjoy in moderation. Maybe by the time I'm 40?

Tammy, don't know if it counts, but my DH acts and thinks like a 19 yo?!

Jen, another question -- when we finalize the shirt designs, can you just e-mail the design and we can print onto iron-on ourselves? Seems like it would save you time and money.

Jenny, I love your signs. Am excited to put onto our door. DD will freak out.

:wave2: :wave2: Everyone....

Trisha, thanks for asking about me, I am around and always want to post, but somehow don't go through. :confused3 .THanks to everyone else also, this post just happened to be near the end of them.. You all give me a heavy, but happier heart.. :grouphug:

I was SO :) to hear about Jenny's great results from the doctor, I hope you have an all around clean bill of health.... :goodvibes ..

Great job to EVERYONE and all the artwork...You guys are aweome..

What else to say, School has finally finished.. :cheer2: :cheer2: This is our first long weekend of the summer...Supposed to be a scorcher and sunny, but the sun has yet to come out.. :sad2: HOpe it does, as I am home with the kids today...

I am working on fixing myself, and getting stronger..I have a better day, and then a bad one...All of a sudden I feel ok, and then I am  ...
You are really a great bunch of friends...I look at all your pics, and you have beautiful families, truly beautiful...I wish I was going on this trip, but maybe another time..I will be around to listen to some LIVE reports...SO watch out for me threatening if you do not... :bitelip:

I hope you all are having a nice day, and a good weekend..Once again, I am so nosey that I read each and every post...It is FUN....

Thanks for being there, you are a bunch of great people.. :grouphug:

Hey all, Good morning to you. Glad to hear from you Sherrie

I like the idea of the Mickey pool. We met last year by one of the pools and it was fine. We could do the yarn thing around the wrist, which is a great idea. We could make name tags and wear them on lanyards around our neck. I think if we do it by the pool, we need a very specific place to meet (in front of Pluto's or the ice cream or under the slide) vs just at the Mickey pool. How does everyone else feel? Another idea, the disshop has dis lanyards for $7. (a little steep) or dis pins ($1.25) http://www.disshop.com/product.asp?3=123 I didn't say a great idea, just an idea. :teeth:

Missy, Whatcha' doin' lately? Haven't heard from you alot in a while? Same with Paul, Brad (one post? we miss you), ragdoll, Karen(s)  :rolleyes1 Pop in more often if you are luuuurrrrrkkkkinnnggg :cool1: Karen(dogs), how is California. Are you finding your nitch? The weather has got to be a nice change. KD, How was Virginia? Did you have a good time? Brad have you started the new job yet?

Well, I am off to finish packing for the weekend without indoor plumbing! Will it be cold, will it be hot? After last year (in which we froze at night), I'm not taking any chances! Packing for everything! First I get to go see my baby cheer (camp) :cheer2: :cheer2: and then it's 3 hours to camp girlscout! I just hope, well pray really, that they have COFFEE!!!!!!! :drinking1

OK, I really DISlike these boards sometimes... :rotfl:

I had a big post all typed up and lost it..now I don't have much time, so here's a synopsis...

Sherrie-good to hear from you as always...keep your chin up! :goodvibes

I’ve lost 3 pounds (total so far including last week when I missed weigh-in). Good for you, Jen! Keep it up!!! I need to get more serious on my diet and get back to the gym! :cheer2:

Jenny, good news about your blood work! Now if they can get your heart under control, you'll be good to go! :wizard:

The meet location is not a big issue for me...We don't have kids, so it doesn't really matter to me where we have it. Just talk amongst yourselves, and let me know what you come up with, and we'll find ya!

It's a really yucky day here. Supposed to get up to 99-100 degrees, AND it's a RED air quality day. (which means that the smog and pollution are so bad that it's difficult to breathe... :crazy2: :scared: :faint:
They're issuing warnings to stay in if you don't need to go out, and to drink plenty of fluids...etc, etc, etc.
I'll just be keeping my happy behind inside.

Anyway, so hello to everyone! Have a great Friday!!!

-Christal

Emily

Hello all-
Just wanted to say a quick hello.
Christal- I hear ya about the weather. We are in the same ballpark here except for the smog. It is 93 degrees right now with a heat index of over 100 and you can definately feel it. I also have stayed inside today. The kids have been out playing in the blow up pool.
Jen- Good luck to you this weekend. I hope it is not freezing at night.

Have a good weekend everyone.
