Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

I think I still like the characters best, :earseek: also not all will have those particular Flip Flops :confused3 Just a thought...

I think it has more to do with the flip flop name and the mickey mouse on the shoes. I don't care which one but keep chiming in.

Jen, is the last design supposed to be backwards? I like them, but I think I still like the first flip flop design. The writing on the other one is too big for me. I like small stuff on my shirts.

Well, spent part of the afternoon arranging my wardrobe for the whole trip. At least what I'm wearing at dinner. Most of it is stuff I can wear during the day that way I don't have to change and I don't have to pack as much. Talk about Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder. :rotfl2: I just have to make sure I don't lose the list between now and when I pack all of it. Anyone else done that yet?

Hope everyone is having a good day. Long work day, meeting at 6:30. Hopefully unlike most meetings here at church this one won't last 2 hours.

:grouphug: to you mommasita and

Jenny, hope your feeling okay today. Focus on getting yourself well. Here's some :wizard: for you.

Emily

I will check out the new designs tonight. I didn't order those flip flops either even tho they are adorable, but I sure like 'em on the shirt. Actually, either design would be great. I agree, Jen, it really doesn't matter. I almost ordered DH a whole passel of Mickey clothes and then offered to pack him for the cruise. Surprise! That thought kept me cracking up for at least an hour. Every day he'd be in something Mickey. For me, the funny thing is, he would just hate that, but he'd gladly sport everything Harley for a week. It's all corporate advertising paid for by the consumer. "I'm a brand" as Paris Hilton would say. Sorry. Don't get me started. Anyway, I giggled over the thought of him having to wear the mouse every day. And DD would be so proud of him, what could he do? I am really excited abt the Tiki outfits. I think I will hide them and bring 'em out on the cruise. A little "magic" for the family.

Emily, I've made a little calendar in my planning notebook that goes everywhere with me (for everything, not just the cruise) and have listed out outfits, etc. Last year I brought too many "day" outfits -- ran around in my swimsuit most of the time so hopefully I won't overpack so badly this year. It's just nice to have options.... But, yes, I'm trying to determine what to wear each night. And we're doing Palo semi-formal night, so I'm sorta disappointed not to dress up more. Although, I probably will anyway. Also have a list of "extras" not to forget (i.e., seasick patch, nightlight, etc.). I too love to plan, plan, plan. It's a disease, I know....

Hi friends,

I'm so touched by your words of kindness and encouragement. I mean that honestly. I think the DIS is a great place, but I truly mean it when I say that I think this group right here is the best place of all. :grouphug: Everyone here is so easy-going, kind-hearted, and generous, and I love it. I look forward to posts everyday. We need to make sure ALL our cruises are together from now on! :)

Health update: got my monitor off today and had blood work drawn. My doc says they'll call me if there's a serious issue or something to get started on fixing right away, but if not I go back next Tuesday for the test results and such. I'm not really scared or anything, just wanting these palpitations to stop. Interestingly enough, I pretty much had them all during the day and night and today, and when I got my monitor off, they stopped. Could have been because I had to fast for the bloodwork and was finally able to eat something at 3:30. In any event, that was a blessing that I had them while the monitor was on so that the machine could record them. I'll keep you posted.

Okay, I have a new magnet prototype for you guys to check out. I think the lettering is much clearer, and I was able to add "the party has started" once I fiddled with the size of the text. This also shows a potential placement of our names (I can move them around for you guys if you want before I email them to you). I didn't put the names in the middle because I didn't want the picture to look uneven with the beach chair, flip flops, and the names all grouped so closely together. Here it is:

Take a look and cast your vote.

Jen, for the shirts I really like the original flip flops. I personally don't care either way either (lol - sounds funny). I agree with what you said in response to Tammy's (?) question about if we'd all have the shoes. I think it's more about the design and the fact that most people wear flip flops or some type of sandals on cruises/in the caribbean.

Beautiful day here in north central Ohio... bright blue sky, puffy white clouds, about 75 and a nice breeze. I LOVE it! :)

Okay, let me know what you think of the signs. Sue, Jen's description of how we'd do the magnets was right on. Did that make sense to you? I'm not planning on splurging for the magnetic paper... just doing the laminate and put magnetic strips on the back of the sign. Cheaper and less work than ordering and paying for shipping, then worrying about the magnetic paper getting caught in the printer (heard that happens with some people's printers).

Oh, and about shore excursions... we're doing the 5 Star St. John Snorkel and Beach Adventure - starts at the (butt) crack of dawn IMHO at 7:40 and you ride 115 ft Leylon Sneed over to St. John's Trunk Bay, Shipwreck Cove Snorkel Tour at St. Maarten (per DSis Melissa's request), and parasailing at CC! Woo hoo! :Pinkbounc I'm excited about the last one. Read a tip that the parasailing time is a bit longer earlier in the day, so our time is from 10:30-11:30 AM.

Emily, I don't have my outfits picked out IRL, but I have the shirts, pants, and dress outfits noted on my packing list. :teeth:

TeaforWendy, okay I think you have it worse than me. Although my desk calendar is pretty close to that. Tells what each day is, where we are, what resturant I expect to be in, casual or formal, if it is Palo, shore excursions, etc.

If it wasn't for this board I'd go nuts. My mom says it makes it worse b/c I think about it more or like all the time because everytime I go on the internet this is where I land, but to me it makes it easier and fun.

Jenny, magnets look awesome. You're doing a great job. I'll don't know if I'll do magnets, if I put anything on the door my dad is going to think I've lost my mind, oh wait, too late. :rotfl2:

As for shore excursions:
St. Marteen: 1st Under 2 Flags tour
St. Thomas: 1st Coral World & Island Drive; Shopping Tour (my own excursion, could take rest of day.)
Castaway Cay: 1st Glass Bottom Boat tour. Just to have something to do. Haven't decided if I'm going to do any swimming.

Later everyone, be back later,
Emily

Lol.... I just had to quote this because I have a Word document JUST like this on my laptop! I refer to it all the time. My sis thinks I'm nuts... she loves Disney too, but I think it surprises here how into it I've gotten. It was her idea, though, to go to Disney the first time - for my 21st birthday/college grad present (a year early) and her completion of her Ph.D. program. We took a 7 day land and sea (3 on land, 4 on the Wonder), and it sort of snowballed from there.... :teeth: My family even offers my services to other friends/family/church members!

Remember a while back when Jen lamented on that she always posts such long notes and sometimes has 2 or 3 in a row? Well, move over Jen... there's a new Jenny postin' in town. :rotfl:

Just wanted to add that I'll be in Palo the last night too. 7:30 ressies to catch the sunset (we hope). See you there, Missy!

Jenny, lol, I know what you mean. I am a Disney veteran of close to 20 WDW trips since the age of 4, will be 21 a week before the cruise :drinking1 so there have been some years with more than one and have 2 cruises under my belt. My classmates couldn't understand it, "Don't you get bored?" "No, duh." How could you. Some people just don't realize how often Disney changes. Here is how Disney lost I am, at one time, my goal in life was to go to work for Disney and then work my way up the corporate chain of command and become CEO. :earboy2: Such ambition.

Okay, since everyone is talking about Palo right now. Let's take a tally, which meals are you doing, what day and what time.

We are doing the brunch on Sunday at 11 am and dinner on Tuesday at 6 pm.

Steve, we'd love to hear you pipe in with more than just two words every so often. :rotfl2:

Emily

Thanks for the magnet explanations. I think I've got it now! How big is the magnet supposed to be? I couldn't get the link to work :badpc: so I haven't seen them.

Question from my DB (who won't join because there are way too many women chatting - although he'll wear a T-shirt! - no offense Steve, Brad, etc.). Does anyone have a :earsboy: around 11 going? My DN will be 11 in August and would like to meet another boy his age before going. Also - do you let them have sign-in sign-out privileges? What do you say before the cruise so the kids won't mind being in the club? :confused3: DN is pretty attached to DB and DSIL, so it won't be easy for him to go to a club where he doesn't know anyone.

I like the original T-shirts the best. Why mess with a good thing! Although I do like the lettering where you can see the Mickey DCL flag through it - but I think that would be overdone when added to the shirt.

As for the obsessive stuff - that's why I'm the family travel planner. :Pinkbounc :bounce: Because I have a plan, a backup plan and a backup to the backup plan! :cool1: I have not only a list of what to pack, but a combined list of all the "best tips" on the internet and am busily working on a spreadsheet that lists all of the DISers and their families so I can keep the Jen/Jenny's apart!

Gotta run - off to dinner!

Sweet Sue

Yes, the one iron on is inverted...or rather it isn't inverted (which it needs to be to iron on). Just look at the idea, not the configuration.

Jenny, 15 points for using the word lamented in a sentence :cool1: . I forgot to look at the door sign before posting, blasted!

Sue, My son is 9 (although that may not be close enough to 11, unless he is desperate). Missy's son is around that age, too. Our kids kind of drop the ball on chatting, huh Missy. Sue, I have a list of all of us and all the information I could gather....state, last name, first names, staterooms, etc. I will send it to you and you can use it to make yours, or just use it.

Man of few words (Steve)...What's up. Thanks for the freaky article on diet coke@!!!! Yikes!
Wendy, I, too, pack to many day clothes and learned a lesson last year....of course this year we are staying in Orlando for a week where you need only....you guessed it....clothes for the day! So I guess I will be lugging that much again. Don't say do laundry....it is sooooooo not happening!

Jenny, Looks good. I would still make the print bigger (or does it look big enough in person?) I am impressed.

Speaking of that. How cool am I :cool1: :cool1: I copied Jenny and fixed my signiture. Not only do you have to look at my ugly mug everytime now, but I permanently put the photo site in the signiture (so I don't have to retype it every page :teeth: ) I just started thinking, as much as I like the photo site, I will definately recognize Jenny on board. I thought this way we see each other so much we will be more likely to hook up. If you want to join me it was easy. I used photobucket.com (the hardest part is for them to confirm your login...takes forever!)
Look how thin I look when I hide half my bulk behind my husband! I should just walk around all day like that!

Too cool! :cool1: :cool1: Thanks! :worship: Saves me the trouble of going back through the archives since you've been onboard much longer than me.

TOO TOTALLY AWESOME! :thewave:

It also makes me feel a little less obsessive :teeth: at least one other person thought of it besides me!

Love the new signature - maybe I'll try and get one of Christina and I up really soon.

DB hasn't called yet about the Palo ressies so now I'm trying to fiugre out whether he'll be calling or what! I need one of these :badpc: with a picture of my DB instead!

Have a great night all - DD is saying "Mommy, .... Mommy... MOMMY - I HURT MY FINGER!" Guess I better go.

Sweet Sue

Okay, I'm sheepishly posting this because I'm probably the only one anal retentive enough to care. BUT, this has become my latest obsession, so I guess it is what it is.

To answer your question, Jen, I wasn't sure how big the picture was IRL, so I printed it out to see. It prints as an 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper landscape (meaning on it's side, not the way something "normally" prints) with a half inch margin of white on three sides. I'll just trim that before laminating it. On my basic HP deskjet, it printed very clearly and nicely.

The part I'm sheepish about is that I have two more creations for the magnets. :rolleyes1 :p  Same picture, but now they have Disney fonts for the lettering. Does anyone care this much about this silly magnet project? I doubt it, and that's okay. Anywho, one has the lettering at the top bunched together, and the other has the lettering a line apart. I prefer the second one. I thought the Disney font might make the sign more, well, MAGICal. :rolleyes1

I had to laugh, Jen, when you said you'd definitely recognize me on board. LOL. I wondered about taking that out so I didn't bombard you all with my mug, but I like seeing what other posters look like, and I love showing off my pup Oliver, so I guess it stays for the benefit of other threads - and more importantly all of you! :)

To answer your question, Emily, we requested the PLAPLAP rotation so we could be in Lumiere's on the formal night, Parrot Cay for the Pirates night, and AP for the semi-formal night. I care WAAAAAAAAAAY too much. Just in case, I try to prepare myself that if hurricanes do change our itinerary or shorten the cruise (why can't those things ever LENGTHEN a cruise for free? ;)), it's not a big deal. I DO believe in going with the flow, believe it or not.

My software should arrive tomorrow so I can move on beyond the current magnet. Wendy, I got the idea from your suggestion of a beach/umbrella/flip flop picture for the shirts... I keep meaning to say that. Hope it's okay I snagged it for the magnet.

TTFN!

I get on here intending to quickly read through everyone's posts, then utter a quick, whitty response...NOPE!! Doesn't work that way!! I spend hours reading, and then by the time I go to respond, I've forgotten what I read!!! :scratchin (I've never done too well with the whole reading retention thing...water retention, I've got that in the bag, but that's another story altogether! )

So anyway...I didn't take notes when I was reading, so I'll do my best to try and respond...

Hi Steve!

Jenny, great sign designs! I like the Disney font idea. Keep us posted on your health situation! Oh, and I must sadly confess that I am not quite as organized as some of you yet. I don't have any itineraries made out just yet.

Jen, awesome signature! What a great idea to put the photo link on your signature!! Brilliant!!!

I've come to the conclusion that I need more flip-flops...I'm ashamed that I only own 2 pair!! :confused3

You folks are really making this fun...I'm really excited!

Well, I need to get off of this dang computer and go do something productive before I go to bed.

See you on the "Flip" Side...
OK, how dorky was that?!?!?!?!?! :faint:

Oh, yeah...and see??? I forgot some stuff...Shore excursions-We're doing the Under 2 Flags tour for St Maartin, Parasailing at CC, and we're doing our own thing to Trunk Bay for St Thomas day. For Palo, we have Sunday Brunch at 11 (I think), and Thursday dinner at 6...I think that's right. Not positive.

And the shirt ideas..I really like the big bold letters of the later stuff. It really jumps off the page (or the shirt, as the case may eventually be) but the original stuff was all fantastic too! I can't decide!
Ok, that's all I think!

Good night!
-Christal

I leave you ladies alone for a couple of days and BAM!!! 200 more posts, ok maybe not that many. Anyhow hope everyone is well. I have been quite the busy beaver here in Hoosierland.

:wizard: :grouphug: :wizard: :grouphug: for you Sherrie, thoughts and prayers from my family to yours.
Same out to you Jenny. I am sure everything will turm out just fine. :wizard: The magnet signs look excellent.

WHHHAAAZZZ UPPP to my homie, Steve.

Jen- I am sticking with the original flip flop shirt.

We have all of our ressies covered. Palo on Wednesday @ 6:00. DW has manicure, pedicure,& cabana massage booked.
Butterfly tour in St. Martin- has anyone been is it a decent tour?
Nothing in St. Thomas. We did the Coral World/Island tour last year, it was good.

I will try to check back in tomorrow. Hope everyone has Disney Dreams!!!!

I forgot to say that we have Palo brunch ressies for (let me consult my list) Monday at 10:30.

I wonder what the chances are of any of the FLip Floppers ending up together at a table for dinner (randomly, not you crazy people who planned it that way).

Christal, what time are you parasailing at CC? We're going at 10:30. I'm excited!!! :)

Glad to see Brad and Steve saying howdy! :)

Night one and all!
