I will attempt to answer all of the questions with this post:

We are from Queens, NY which is about 20 mins from mid-town manhattan, we both work for the NYPD and will be staying in cabin 7554 with our sons Brandan 11, and Jordan 9... also joining us is a co-worker, Haydee Blondo and her son Paul 10, they are in cabin 2064. As for Deegee24, he will have some competition on that prize :teeth: . This is our 7th cruise, but the 1st on Disney... earlier this year we sailed on RCCL to the Panama Canal and didn't have that great of a time, and are REALLY looking forward to a magical time.
We won't be hard to miss as my husband is 6'5". I am not very computer savy, so I can't really promise a picture... he's going to have to help me with that one. :cool1:

Hello Jennat, as a matter of fact,, hello all!!!
Jen thanks for including my pics. with the others. Upon seeing my pic. there I felt a bonding that I had not felt here before. I feel like we're all family :grouphug: , I feel so close to you guys now that I am thinking about borrowing a cup of sugar and ten bucks from you'll. I can't wait to meet you'll and I wish everyone the best of health and joyous days until we cruise. During and after the cruise may our days be just as healthy and joyous as the days before. Well now that's that said,,,"LETS ALL GET DRUNK" oh man,,, I forgot I don't drink. Well LET'S ALL HAVE FUN ANYWAY!!!
Once again thanks again Jen!!
Oh on the leg :cool1: topic, If they are your legs you dress them, or not dress them as you please. If you borrowed them from someone-else than you should do with them as they wish.

Nite all.
David (aka) Deege

Hi all, it is one more day closer! My exchange student's USA liason is ducking me about where this kid is going for a week while we are gone. It is starting to scare me a bit. I just hope that this tropical ewhatever goes out to sea. Does anyone know if it was officially named yet? Well, I had people over today so I am tired and gong to bed, Night!

Hey guys... I've been keeping up, but just haven't had time to post. It's been a very busy 4 day weekend for us! Started out Thursday night by switching furniture between rooms (living room/family room). I am much happier with how things look and the kids are trashing the place less, so that is a good thing! :teeth:

Saturday involved a 3-hour trip to drop Emily off at a friend's house to spend the night (only about an hour and 45 minutes driving time in all, but had to visit with the mom when I dropped her off), then a couple of hours at the mall with hubby and the 3 youngest. We've been to 2 different malls here in CA and neither one of them have food courts. What's up with that?? :confused3 Sure makes it hard when everyone wants something different to eat. We wound up picking 2 different places; one upstairs and one down, one at one end of the mall and one at the other. :sad2:

Sunday was my 2nd time singing on praise team and I had to handle my part (alto) solo... we were short-handed because of the holiday. It was a little nervewracking because some of the songs were pretty new to me and since we sing a cappella, there is no piano to help me hear my part. I have to rely on my sight reading and hearing the melody from the sopranos. It went well, though.

Today the kids and I still had school, even though it was a holiday. Since we have a 2-week break, I felt like we needed today. After we finished up, I ran to the store for some wine (yeah, me the tee-totaler) to marinate steaks in. Some friends made some really great steaks for us back in Omaha and we wanted to try out their marinade recipe. Couldn't find the same dry marinade mix, but the one I used, combined with equal parts water and red wine, made for some VERY tasty meat!! I also mixed up a no-bake chocolate chip cheesecake. Mmmmmm. :cake: There is just enough left for some for tomorrow night, too.

Getting excited!!!

Oh, welcome to all the new people!

OK, everyone, I have a question. Is anyone (who has cruised with Disney before) considering NOT dressing up for the dining rotations and maybe going to Topsider's for dinner??? We have only done this once, on the Western - Key West night when we were too exhausted to "dress up" and me do the pantyhose thing. The dinner was wonderful. We had a window table to watch the sunset (which we wouldn't have had in the dining room), and the service was excellent! The waiter who seated us even had on a tux!
Just curious - we would not want to do this every evening, but maybe once or twice. I read a trip report from March and the gentleman writing it said that you can request the same food that is served on the regular rotational dining menu. He said he liked dining there better because of the more attentive service and better views.

So, anyone else opposed to dressing up on a few occasions?? Please don't flame me either!! (HAHA) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Karen (#3)

I am sure that we will at least once. I told DH that we had to dress up for dinner every night and he is not very happy about it. I have not told him that there is an in-formal dinning area! once he finds out...I am sure we will eat there at least once!

There is nothing wrong with that. I was thinking of eating at topsiders on Wednesday. By the time we get back from St Thomas and get to the party, we are going to have to leave for dinner (I know Sue has reservations at Palo) but maybe we want to keep hanging out and then go up for dinner when we want. I realize this doesn't address the dress up question. I am bringing one dress and NO pantyhose. You are on a cruise for goodness sakes women...JUST SAY NO!!!!

You won't catch me in a pair of pantyhose...not even on formal night!!!!

This is our third cruise but first with DCL...ususally we eat top side at least once makes for a nice view. I know the dinning rotation thing is a different cup of tea for me so I don't know when...but knowing DH we will be there at least once. He's always in shorts even through the winter so I don't want to make it too difficult for him. So we will see

Back to work :badpc: for a few days anyway...take care all...soon ......soon... :boat: :dancer: :rockband: :drinking1 :thewave: :flower: :sunny:

I couldn't post last night and it was driving me crazy!
Jenny, Here is the post office information http://www.usps.com/forms/_pdf/ps8076.pdf
You should be able to do it all online.

Karen(3), I am still hoping that post came off okay...in my eternal quest for something to feel quilty about......anyway, hope it didn't sound santimonious. I can't stand that. I was just sharing my pondering thoughts not my convictions, and I don't have any judgements on what others to. I hope you didn't feel judged! Quilt! I know those posts on Palo can get heated and I hate that! That's why I posted it here. Just wondered what you guys did. (I knew it wouldn't get ugly here.)

Karen, Steaks and desert sound great....weekend sounds long....singing sounds impressive!~

Trisha, How is your dog?

David, What is MTA?

Linda, What is your husband's name?

Still one more week til I send out the final updated list.....did I mention I am obsessive and the blanks in it are killing me.....so those of you with blanks....make something up and send it to me.....it doesn't have to be right....I;ll never know and it will quite the beast within :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Seriously though, if you want a list you have to send your e-mail....

Hello Jennat,
The MTA stands for Metropolitian Transit Authority. We are the buses and trains that move NY'ers around the city. I seem to be spending more time here than I ever have before. I am enjoying it though, even looking forward to reading other peoples post. It's almost a shame that those people who were scheduled to cruise on Carnival's 3 ships had to cancel their cruise plans because the ships were sent to house some people let homeless by Katrina. I would be pissed :smooth: , yet understanding :) .

David(aka)Deege
"oh by the way my wife call me DJ"
Have a great dall all.

I did not realize that that had actually happened...I know there was talk of housing homeless on cruise ships...

Just resurrecting this for good measure...

Welcome WinMO! Glad to have you aboard.

Again, this may be information overload, but here's some information for your consumption (taken from various posts to make it easier to pass on info to newcomers, also known as new-we're-SO-glad-to-have-you-comers"):

OUR GROUP'S NAME:
We are calling ourselves the Flip Floppin' Castaways (FFC for short).

WHO WE ARE:
You can get a sneak peek at our beautiful faces in jennat (Jen)'s signature line. She has a link to the pic gallery for some of us. Send her your family's pic if you'd like! You can also PM Jen for a list of the names of all the adults and kids we know to be DISers cruising with us, stateroom #s, occupations, cell #s (in case of crazy circumstances due to weather), shore excursions, etc.

OUR WEBSITE:
http://www.flipfloppin'castaways.com
This site is full of helpful information, pictures, and other great stuff. Thanks to Jen (jennat) for her hard work on this one!

FFC MERCHANDISE:
Also in Jen (jennat)'s signature line, there's a link to the online shop where we are buying shirts with our logo on them. Lots to choose from.

MAGNETIC DOOR SIGNS:
Who wants the Flip Floppin' Castaways door sign? I think if everyone would be willing to pay $3 for the sign, that would cover the cost of the ink and magnetic paper. If the cost is less than this, I'll just give you the updated price on the ship. Here's the link to check it out: http://www.photodump.com/direct/atsjen/FFCDisney2.jpg

If you ARE interested in the F
FC sign, PM me so I can start making a list of who wants the signs. I'll need to know:

1) Do you want real names or screennames on the sign?
2) The names of all the people you want on the sign.
3) Do you want where you're from on the sign? (The one posted doesn't show that because I'm not sure we're putting our home city/state on there)

I will print them out on the magnetic paper and bring them with me in Sept. I'll hand them out at the first DIS meet (thereby sneakily creating more incentive for us to meet you :goodvibes ).

MEETS ON BOARD:
Sat 3 PM Mickey pool, deck 9 - wear green yarn on your wrist so we can ID each other. Sweetsue's daughter will apparently come racing toward you with her walker to welcome you officially to the Flip Floppin' Castaways cruise. :goodvibes
BACK-UP PLAN: In the event of inclimate weather, this meet will be held in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3 at the same time.
Sun 1 PM atrium lobby deck 3 for cabin tour. We're going to walk around and look at each other's cabins to see the different styles and plan what stateroom category we want next time.
Wed 4/4:30-6 stateroom 8080 - sweetsue (Sue)'s stateroom for her birthday party in one of the suites!

I am making reminder signs (1 per stateroom) to list all the meets. I decided to punch a hole in the top and give everyone a suction cup with a hook hanging off to hang the sign on a wall, mirror, verandah door, etc. I figured that was better than handing people a piece of paper that would get lost amidst all of DCL's "less important" documentation. :rotfl: Be sure to confirm for me in a PM or in a regular post how many cabins you have so you get enough reminder signs for them all. Also, please let me know if you are celebrating any birthdays or anniversaries while on board. If I don't hear from you, I'll just make you one DIS meets sign no matter how many staterooms you have.

As of September 6, this is all the pertinent info. I'll update this post as necessary.

Good morning gang,

Well, this is the week I hope to get our docs since our TA got home from his vacation yesterday. I'm hoping for tomorrow as the day to dance.

Not much is new. Many things on my "to-do" list for the day.

Thanks for the link, Jen. I got it. :)

David, posting regularly does that to you (makes you look forward to reading the thread). You've come over to the dark side....

Later all!

Christal, no reminder? :sad2: :sad1:  (the more I thought about it, the worse the smilies felt). ;)

Hello all-
I know that technically this isn't a JB song but I heard it on the radio this morning and had to post it. I have been singing it all morning.

Pour me something tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
Its only half past twelve but I don't care.........
Its five o'clock somewhere.
:sunny:

Jen, thanks for asking about my dog. She isn't getting any better and, unfortunatly, we will have to make a decision about her before the cruise. Please pray God gives me strength. It is very hard.

I'm still praying for good weather during our cruise. I know we are going to have beautiful weather everyday. I have to go get Braden from school. I will check back in later.

Jenny...Oh my gosh!! Please dry your eyes because in

:cool1:  :cheer2: 11 days :cheer2:  :cool1:

We will all be preparing to board the ship!!!!!

Hi I'm just checking in. Nothing happening here, just a boring morning. It seems like time is going so slow these days. It is close to only one more week and I am dragging my feet about things to be done yet for our vacation. I can't find my pillowcases that I got and my dress needs to be hemmed up. Well I need to go clean, I'll check back later.
