Sept 16 2012 - WONDERing who's on the Calif Coastal with me?!

The quote you quoted was talking about the winery they just added, and its greyed out because you can't book it online...have to go through a form.

On most of the cruises I have done there is at least 1 or 2 excursions or more that are full before first timers, but anytime there was one booked up when I tried to book it, I just keep checking and eventually got in. There are always cancellations.

With only one truly full, since the NIght is not offered on our cruise, that is not bad at all and it probably did not have many slots available for it. and with Palo still so open its def an odd cruise and not that full.

My first thought was that these California coast cruises mustnt be popular if PALO is open at the 75 day mark - and even all the excursions (ex Alcatraz) being open also. It might be a quiet cruise :rotfl:

Oh..so it is IS commom for things to be totally booked before many have a shot. Well....I guess if we like it we'll be become CC members and not have to worry..as much..next time. What are the levels of CC membership? Of course, with my luck once I hit a certain status they will change the whole program...like I am now reading that DVCers no longer get any little goodies as they did in the past, but my friend, who booked with her Disney Visa, gets a very cool Pixar book..oh well..just very fortunate to be able to go at all:wizard:

Does it really matter if you get something free? Im DVC and we still get free stuff on the cruise, the same basic things as always. You will be CC member after this cruise, Silver. Then you will get to book ahead of the new people.

I don't think our cruise is popular at all :). We did an ALaskan in May 2011 and there were 200 rooms empty, it was so nice. I am hoping for a nice and quiet ship again :)

No Idea why Alcatraz sold out so fast, though it did take till silver to do so. There must not have been many times and availability. Thankfully its super easy to do on your own.

Actually we are doing everything on our own, cheaper that way and way more freedom. With the super long port times it would be very hard to miss the ship. We are not getting off in Ensenada.

Wow 200 rooms?? that's a fair chunk of our little boat :-)

I must say I am not bothered that Alcatraz is full. We too booked our own tickets. Coming from Nz our dollar is only worth 0.79 to your 1.00 which make some of the excursions even more expensive.

The Castaway Club status really doesn't mean too mush for us as I really don't think I will be able to get DH back on a Disney Cruise unless we manage to do a PC one to get to WDW with the children. Our three week trip has cost us about 15k so as one of my magnets says... its a once in a lifetime!!

I saw one of the Disney boats in 2001 in Port Canaveral when I was on my honeymoon and I was like "ooooooooh" never in my wildest dreams did I think that we would ever go on a beautiful Disney cruise. I just feel so privileged to have a chance to sail - am so excited.

I am off to buy t-shirts today for pirate night. I showed Dh the design and he was like - oh are they for the children? Umm not quite hon!! Better be nice to him so I can work on another cruise for 2015!!!!!!!!

Have a lovely day all - rain rain and more rain here - and almost freezing point!!

Cheers

I used our Disney Visa but was told we can't get the book b/c it can't be combined w/ the 10% discount when we booked on board. Anyway, I found that same book for about $25 on amazon so if you really want it, you can still get it for not much.

I'm locked and loaded - got Palo :) Got Ensenada tour -= the other ports we are doing our own thing and will wait until the day to see what the children want to do. We are cruising coming off two weeks of Disney, universal, legoland and seaworld. So will see what the kiddies want before booking much ;)
:cloud9:

Yay! So glad you got the bookings you wanted! :goodvibes

Thanks Stephanie - we are uber excited now :) It is suddenly so real. For years I have been saying, "I am going to take my kids to disneyland.... and now it is soooooo close!!!" I have 8 weeks of work (teacher) before we go - am soo soo excited! Not to mention the kids.

Spent the day on FEs today. Am almost finished :):cheer2: :dance3: pixiedust:

I had read that the DVC stateroom gifts were discontinued? No, it really doesn't matter if I get free stuff..just kinda fun to get some.

Yup, having a cruise with that many empty rooms, was great! Should be interesting to see how full or not full the ship is come sept.!

In our almost 3 years of DVC we have basically gotten the same thing from DVC, it just changes what kind of box/packing it was in. Once it was in a journal/scrapbook thingy (which was useless really)..one of those get a character signature here...put your favorite pictures you bought from shutters there. So maybe kids would like it, but can't see many adults using. Got a wooden box once, a cardboard box...and every time got lanyards, a pin, hats and such and a magnet on the door.

While its kinda fun to get stuff, I feel so wasteful since we never use much of it, and in the end most of probably gets thrown away if I can't find someone to give it to.

Hi everyone, I emailed DCL and asked which nights were pirate, semi-formal and formal night on our cruise before I booked Palo & nursery time and got this reply. Thought I'd share with anyone else interested!

"7-Night Pacific Coast Cruise

*Night 2: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.
*Night 5: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for

I've noticed some meet threads have started facebook groups for their sailings to communicate through there too and maybe get to know each others faces before sailing. Would anyone here be interested in that? I know some people love them and some people prefer everything be kept on the disboards.

Just got an e-mail from the excursion team that the winery tour is 1 guest way from the minimum to go, so there are spots available. Anyone still interested, there is still room for you!

I'm in for a facebook group :)

Ahhhh I knew this would happen! Still stings thought! OGT and VGT rates are posted for our sailing! I like the verandah room we picked out...but still...can't help but consider losing the deposit and rebooking a VGT...

I'm all for a facebook group. I will create it but since I'm still "earning my ears" I may not be able to post the link for all you to join.

Created the Facebook page. here's the link. It would be great to put some faces to names.

Sorry to be a pain, but would you consider creating a closed facebook group instead? The only reason I mention that is that w/ a page or open group, everyone on facebook sees what you post (shows up in their feed) and just as a safety precaution, I wouldn't actually want everyone knowing the week that I am on vacation (probably paranoid but I saw a news segment about how facebook has limited privacy settings so pages you like and things you post show up in the feeds of friends and friends of friends).

I was thinking something like this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/277560752350790/

Makes perfect sense. I think I made it closed.... (facebook's privacy settings are so complicated these days.) If what I have doesn't work like the page and I'll make you an admin and you can fix it. Or I'll just delete it and someone else who is better with facebook can create it.
