Sept 16 2012 - WONDERing who's on the Calif Coastal with me?!

Did anyone else recieve the email yesterday regarding the addition of a port adventure to our port visit in San Fransico? The new port adventure is to the Lasseter Family Winery in Sonoma. I immediately logged into my cruise account and the port adventure was already listed as sold out. :( Looks like I need to get on the wait list for this.

Well, naturally..I would book that and it's sold out before I even have a shot..disappointed in the way this works. It doesn't bother me that CC members get perks, but it would be nice if they held back some spaces for others to have a chance. I'm a D23 member and go to great lengths to try and be online and get my info entered to get special tickets..sometimes I get them, sometimes not, but at least I have a chance. But to offer something that will clearly be sold out to CC members I still see as unfair. How do you get on waitlists for these things?

You can get on the wait list for port adventures by going to the port adventures desk on the day you board the ship. Sometimes if they have enough interests in a particular excursion they will add a second group. I've always gotten every port adventure I had reserved but I usually pick something not everyone would be interested in (i.e. scuba diving, zip lining, hiking, kayaking etc) or younger children cannot do. To be added to the wait list at Palos you need to go to Palos on deck 10 to speak with meet the dining staff when you board the ship. Sometimes a team from Palos will set-up a table along with the other dining teams in one the nightclubs or lounges to help you change your dining table (if you choose), your rotation, or change from first to second dining or vice versa. Just asks someone from Guest Services when you board the ship where they are setting up.

The reason that it is grayed out is because it is a signature excursion, that requires a different way of booking.

My DH and I, along with my sister(MaleficentShawna), her DH, and their adorable children(my niece and nephew) will be sailing with all of you on the Wonder. So super excited.

We would love to participate in the FE gifts, as we did on the Cruise to Nowhere Jan. 2011!! We loved it.

I booked this cruise when I got the e-mail about the Pixar connection. It is my DH's birthday gift - he's a big kid at heart. We love the fact that we can go on a cruise without having to fly to the port. Bonus - teenage grandkids are really jealous.:dance3:

I sent in the booking form for the Lassiter Winery trip - fingers crossed and hope he doesn't find out the price! Glad to hear we have a pirate night - can't wait to see how they do the overdress for Pixar characters as pirates! pirate:

Welcome to the board!!

Our cruise window will be open very soon this week - looking forward to doing the inline checking in - Then the cruise will seem very real!!

We are in the thick of winter here at the moment - very wet and cold. thinking of sunshine and warmth is making the winter disappear very quickly!!!

Send some of that moisture our way! Here in Colorado we are being burnt to a crisp. We have had upwards of 15 wildfires so far this summer and our most devastating one in history. Over 32,000 people evacuated and over 300 homes lost. All my friends and family are safe but we all just keep hoping and praying for some rain!

As my sister EvilQueenShari mentioned in a prior post - my husband, DD age 3 and DS age 9 months, and myself are all looking forward to our Sept 16th cruise! I went on the Jan 2011 cruise to nowhere off Port of Los Angeles and participated in the FE exchange and it was SO MUCH FUN!

I would like to also participate in teh FE exchange on this cruise as well. Can you add me to the list?

Thanks ~ Shawna

Seems that I am sooo new(and not a big poster) that I am not allowed to PM or VM anyone till I rack up the posts. Could someone pm me for info so we can both be added to the FE list?

Thank you very much :cool1::cool1:

Hi! We're not doing FEs but I just wanted to welcome you to the group :)
My husband & I will be sailing with our then-21 month old dd and our friends and their then-26 month old dd. Can't wait! :woohoo:

We did the excursions through Disney on our last trip, mainly b/c we sailed to Mexico and had heard some bad stories. I didn't realize how inflated some of the prices were at the time but this time, we were looking at doing Sea World and the price they're charging is $80 more per person than what buying a ticket on my own would cost. I understand that includes the round trip transportation taking the scenic route but still...it's not that far and from what I read, a cab would be $10-15 there (and you could share it!). There's even public transportation that would be around $5-6 each way.

Anyway, as I was looking at other things to do in SF and SD on our own, I noticed they both seem to have pretty popular hop on hop off buses! There seems to be 2 main ones in SD and 4 main ones in SF. The roundtrip loop would be about 2hrs and you can of course get off and explore and then catch the next one at any points of interest. The cost varies from $30-40. I just thought I'd post this idea in case anyone else was interested! just about 75 days and counting! yay!

We're thinking the same thing about how much it is to go to sea world! We have season passes so we don't want to pay that much. The only thing is we have a 4 year old and an 18 month old and we won't have car seats for them. By any chance do you know if the public transportation you mentioned we would need a car seat? I know on the busses you don't!

Our dd will be 21 months old by the time be go on this trip so I looked into the car seat issue too! If you take a cab in California, it's still required by law that you have car seats for the kids. I know it's different in other states but here, they're not supposed to pick you up if you don't have a car seat and the cab driver can get a ticket for that. Our other option was to use a car service and request car seats but the problem with that is that I liked the freedom of a cab better (can call one early if needed, whereas the car service wants a set pick up time). Also, I read lots of negative reviews in regards to car seats from car services or rental car places b/c the seats may be expired or damaged. Also, I saw several reviews of various, well rated car services, showing up w/ no car seat (like there was a mix up or they forgot) or with the wrong car seat (like an infant seat for a toddler or a booster for an infant). Since we're just there for one day, I figured it's not worth the hassle since we're planning on going back to SD for a long weekend next year and will just do Sea World then.

And I just realized I didn't really answer your question! You don't need car seats on the hop on hop off tours, trolleys or buses. Just the cabs and other cars.

My friend who is a silver or gold or something said she checked and it wasn't grayed out..it said Sold Out. Disney said there is no wait list but I can keep checking since people will change their mind and drop excursions..and then I'll get on the wait list on board if possible. I don't think I'll have trouble getting a Palo reservation..just the Alcatraz one is full (no biggie since so easy to do by myself)..just as a first timer I was caugh un-awares that things would fill so fast. My Gold or Silver freind said she has never experienced exursions being full before this one. It will be fine, and I'm sure a great cruise. I can book tomorrow so will see what's what then.

I'm locked and loaded - got Palo :) Got Ensenada tour -= the other ports we are doing our own thing and will wait until the day to see what the children want to do. We are cruising coming off two weeks of Disney, universal, legoland and seaworld. So will see what the kiddies want before booking much ;)
:cloud9:

Sorry to say this girls but you are all stuck with me now - WE ARE ALL BOOKED! Very stoked to get earliest check in too :)

I sent you PM about the FE info.

A bit of an update and hopefully un-do some confusion others might be having. Yes..the Lassiter tour is listed as sold out on the port adventures page, but on the description page for the excursion is the sign up thing you send to the Disney Cruise excursion people (I hadn't seen this before and wondered where folks were seeing it since I couldn't view the excursion availability page at all until today) This excursion IS still available by sending the request to the Excursion people and you pre-pay for it. So if you gave up, try again.
We finally got a Palo reservation..most days I put in were not available..until my friend and I each changed the requested 4 person party to 2. After we did that we were able to book and maybe won't sit together but maybe can get close by, so that's all set. We'll do Alcatraz and Walt Disney Family Museum on our own (already bought tickets) so that's set. San Diego is now a question mark since we had planned on doing the wine thing there but since we're doing the Lassiter winery don't want to do both..maybe the on/off Trolley? As fas as Ensenada..ugh..maybe stay on the ship :)
Thanks for all the advice and info..being a first time cruiser can be really confusing.

The quote you quoted was talking about the winery they just added, and its greyed out because you can't book it online...have to go through a form.

On most of the cruises I have done there is at least 1 or 2 excursions or more that are full before first timers, but anytime there was one booked up when I tried to book it, I just keep checking and eventually got in. There are always cancellations.

With only one truly full, since the NIght is not offered on our cruise, that is not bad at all and it probably did not have many slots available for it. and with Palo still so open its def an odd cruise and not that full.
