Sept 16, 2010, Disney Wonder Bahama Cruise

according to the weatherman today, the forecast looks good for the next week... no new "systems" out there, that could make there way to the Bahamas by next weekend... looks like we're gonna have awesome weather.

anyone, besides us, planning to go to Cabbage Beach on Nassau day?

Thanks for the weather update. :)
Where is cabbage beach?
We have a glass boat tour in the AM that we are doing. Hope we make it in time.

We can't wait. We are having a disney movie marathon this weekend to get pumped.

We had first booked the Atlantis trip but decided to cancel because $52 per adult and $39 per kid was a bit stiff! We are going to shop, take a cab to Atlantis, walk around, go to the markets and shop and end up at Senior Frog's for drinks :)

By the way, my e-bay lady is at Disney NOW and didn't mail my Fish Extender before she left. I emailed her again today through ebay and have no idea if she can finish them and put them in express mail for me to get at the hotel Tuesday. I am really upset about this !!!! I will have to pull something together because I've already spent a lot of money on stuff!!! :rotfl2:

Other than that, I am almost packed as we are leaving Atlanta early, early Tuesday morning for 2 nights at the Disney All Star Movie hotel! I am really excited and just want the fun to start!!:yay:

Wow, sorry to hear about the FE mixup. I guess your seller won't have "100% positive feedback" anymore, eh? Have you searched the forums to see what other people have done? Letter/coupon organizers work well - just stick some Disney stickers on them to spruce them up. Good luck!

Regarding Nassau day -- you say you're taking a cab to the Atlantis area? depending on how adventurous you are, Cabbage Beach is only 1/2 mile down the road from Atlantis (east, I think). It's a free public beach. You could walk, or catch another taxi. We are going to be there, from probably 10am to 4pm or so.

Finally - I see you're spending a couple nights at Walt Disney World. Here's a tip -- in the evening, take your hotel bus to the Magic Kingdom. From the MK, get on the monorail and visit all the deluxe hotels around the lake. You could even have a dinner at one of the restaurants. I highly recommend watching the MK fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian (we do it all the time)! Afterwards, just monorail back to the MK, and catch your bus back to the All Star Movies resort.

thanks for all the great ideas!! I just spoke with the FE lady and supposedly she is going to mail mine tomorrow. I told her she was going to have to send them to the hotel overnight, let's just hope she does!!! I was already dreading having to "make up something" as a fish extender because I really had my heart set on surprising my grandkids!!

We will be going to the Mickey Halloween party Tuesday night at the Magic Kingdom and staying for the parades and fireworks! I am so excited!! I loved your idea about the monorails too!!

We might just have to check out Cabbage Beach! Sounds like a good place to stop by after we have explored Atlantis!

Just a very few more days!! Can't wait!!:dance3:

sorry about your FE...I hope you get it in time. Hopefully we meet on the cruise. I would love to know how the not so scary halloween party is. We are going to it on the thursday following the cruise. Hope you have a wonderful time.

Tips:
-Whisper in one of te photographers ear that you want a tinker bell photo and they will make you cup your hands....when the pic is developed tinkerbell will be in your hand.
-See the parades at the start of the parade...that way you can go on rides while others are still watching it.
-Visit tinkerbell's treasure shop in MK and ask the cunter person to wake up tinkerbell. She will fly across the shop!
-Take a sharpie or extra large pen for character autographs. It's easier for them to hold.
-If you shop during the day you can have your packages sent to your hotel. Not on the last day though because the arrive the next morning.
-Ohana breakfast with lilo and stitch is awesome! Food and service is excellent and the kids get to do a conga line with the characters.
-There is a make your own ears in downtown disney. We did that last year. It is a lil more pricey but very cool.

If I think of anything else...I will post it here.
Have a great trip and hope to see you on the cruise.

I have a question.....
I don't know if any of you have ever been on a disney cruise before....we have not.
We have a reservation for 10:45 in the bahamas on the glass boat tour. We only go ashore at 9:30....do you think we will make it to the reservation?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kelly

Where is the best shopping? Is it in atlantis?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We are getting sooooooooooo excited. :woohoo:

We did the glass bottom boat tour once... the boat leaves right from the same area as where the Wonder docks -- so it's a very short walk, and there is no chance you'll be late. Your group will meet somewhere on the boat first, then you'll just follow the guide off the boat, right to the glass bottom boat... no worries.

We never really shopped much, so I don't know where the best shopping is... but I do believe that, in the neighborhood surrounding the Atlantis resort, there are lots of shops and stuff. I have read posts where people take the taxi to Atlantis, and instead of going in, they just walk around the harbor and stuff, looking at the yachts and condos. If you'd prefer, Disney has a shopping "guru" who you can follow.... he/she will visit the "preferred" Disney shops in downtown Nassau, and you can tag along. When you first get on the boat, ask about the shopping presentation.. i think it's at 3pm in the movie theater. You'll get maps of downtown Nassau, and a coupon book.

I just wanted to say Hi to everyone! I am a Disney aholic ( thus I work at Disney World). My roommate and I decided to book lastnight for this Thursdays cruise! We are celebrating my birthday... and our weekend off haha!

I have not seen not so scarry this year but I heard some great things about it people are seeming to enjoy it. MK is all decorated for halloween I was there yesterday and I really wanted to go to MNSS.

Someone said that you can create your own ears at downtown disney, if you are going to MK you can do it there too at the hat shop. It's right by the confectionary. They have all kinds of different ears and decorations for one of a kind mickey mouse ears.

Characters love sharpie markers but not the extra wide ones just regular ones. They really dont like the little pens with the koosh ball tops. (kooshies). If you are going to meet the characters durring the day skip that and wait for the cruise the lines are shorter. The lines at the parks can be really long. Unless you are at the halloween party then they are all dressed up and I would wait too!

Ohanas has the best dinner! We love to go there and eat. It can be a little expensive.

OK, the Fish Extender list is still the same (see above). Please check the room numbers, make sure everything is still correct. Looks like there are 4 boys and 4 girls... does everyone have their Fish Extender done yet?

If someone is following this thread, and you haven't asked to join the FE list yet -- you have about one more week -- please don't dawdle!

is this the whole list of kids who are doing fish extenders? I got some really cute little things today that I could give to kids. I just need an exact number :)

Wow...thanks for th tips. I thought he character's like those kooshie pens. We had some last year but it was difficult because my sister is allergic to rubber and the hair is made of it. ugh!

That is so cool that you will be joining us. Happy Birthday. Can I ask how old you will be?

Thanks,
Kelly

Hi everyone! So how was your cruise? Anything exciting or noteworthy to share?

* We did Cabbage Beach on Friday... the waves were too big to do any snorkeling, which was a huge bummer. However, my wife got a massage and my son and I rented a wave-runner.. which was awesome on the big waves! We got soaked and had a great time.

* We were one of the first families to make it to Pelican Plunge on Saturday... my DS8 went down the closed-in slide (the really fast one), and it scared him so much he didn't go in the water again, for the rest of the day. Another big bummer! But we did a bike ride, played some games at In-Da-Shade, and had a nice time just chillin on the island. We were back on the boat at 2:30pm, and my son had some fun in the pool. Eventually we dropped him off at the kids club, while DW and I got a chance to enjoy a steam together in the Rainforest Spa.

* DW and I ate at Palos on Saturday night. The appetizers and desserts were delicious! However, the entrees we ordered (DW=veal, me=stuffed chicken breast) were surprisingly BLAND, we were sooo surprised. The best dinner I had was the wasabi beef tenderloin at Animators Palate.

We have our next cruise booked... another 3-nt, in Sept 2011. We have to wait a full year... <boohoo> It was our last cruise on the Wonder -- what great family memories we have on that boat.

KSandbergFL:

I literally got to know of this board a couple of days before the cruise, so did not post anything before the cruise. But now that we are back ...

My kids went on the Pelican Plunge too; I did not because I wanted to do other things (which we did not end up having the time to do anyway - bummer).

What time did you bike around the island? We were there from about 11 to noon or so. We must have crossed each other. :)

The best thing we did was renting those bikes - the worst thing was that we got a couple of those Castaway getaways - snorkel, fins, float etc. We hardly used them - I should have realized we would not be able to use them as neither me nor DS ever snorkeled before for more than the couple of minutes at Typhoon Lagoon (or was it the Blizzard Beach), and that itself was not a fun experience for me.

"We have our next cruise booked... another 3-nt, in Sept 2011. We have to wait a full year... <boohoo> It was our last cruise on the Wonder -- what great family memories we have on that boat. "

I missed the tip that it is worth it to book onboard. Though it is too late for us, I was curious as to what kind of discounts/deals do they offer? Is this a common practice among cruise lines?

Our dinner rotation was AP, PC and Triton's - what were yours? I wonder if we came across anyone from this board on the cruise - I meant to note down your cabin numbers before we left for the cruise, but forgot.

I did take a few photos of a glorious sunset on 09/18. I plan to put them up somewhere online ... and post the link here if you all are interested.

Y's Dad

Well, after months and months of planning... the cruise is finally over :( :rotfl2: We had such an awesome time!! Thanks to everyone for the "goodies" we received in our fish extenders. I really thought more people on board would decorate their doors or have fish extenders.

Can't wait to book our next cruise!!

Did the Blue Lagoon Dolphin swim as a Birthday present for my DW, it was AWSOME :cool1: it is worth the extra cost and the 'foot push' is something you will never forget.

:thumbsup2

We were upgraded to a room a room with a verandah. We were in room 7026. My daughter loved the FE. As we walked by she said mommy can you make make me one of those. I told her i dont know how to sew but i can you buy you one for our next cruise. LOL. Other than taht she loved teh kids club and meeting the princesses.
