Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

Thanks for the welcome and thanks so much for adding us to the FE list, I already have our stateroom number as well as all the info you may need, I will PM it to you ASAP. :flower3:

Hope everyone had a great weekend. As for me, I'm very excited I ran my first 10K yesterday morning , I did it in 63 minutes which was pretty good since I am just recovered from a foot injury that lasted 19 months.

You guys have a great week!

Dennis

That is pretty good Dennis!!!:cool1: (I figured it would take me 1063 minutes to run that distance!!!) I use to run track when I was in high school, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many.............well you get the picture..........years ago. Ran the 440 and the mile, wasn't too awful bad in my youth. I'm an ol' geezer now!!!!:sad2: Dennis, will you be running the 5K on Castaway Cay?

Dennis, will you be running the 5K on Castaway Cay?

I am definitely looking forward to running CC's 5K, I have run it twice already and it is IMHO a great way to start the day at that small piece of paradise. Then I will be doing the personal watercraft tour, I have done it twice as well and I LOVE it! My wife (Monica) will be waiting for me on the beach since she is not brave enough to ride on one of those waverunners with me :rotfl2: Our DD (Madison) will be happy staying at Scuttle's cove :lmao:

I LOVE those waverunners!! I only went once a year and a half ago and loved it. Even though I was way behind everyone else. The way the thing bumped and jumped over the wake left from those in front of me, and it terrified me to go fast. I was more than happy to go at a leisurely pace, although the crew that led us out I'm sure weren't happy with that. I've learned since that if you go FAST, you don't bump and jump, but more or lesss skim OVER, those waves? I really want to try it again. I went as a single rider that time because my DH wasn't interested (can you believe that?) Personally I wouldn't want to ride with him anyways, unless I was the one driving it! ;)
Lets hope for some really great weather on our CC day for this cruise, and then maybe I can give it another try.
Dennis, have you ever taken your camera with you on either of those previous tours? I forgot to when I went, but won't forget again if I get the chance to go! :)

I'm PAID IN FULL!!! I'm PAID IN FULL!! It's such a good feeling to say I'M PAID IN FULL!! :yay::cool1: :woohoo::rockband::dancer:

CONGRATS!!! It feels great, huh? I know the feeling because.... I'M PAID IN FULL AS WELL:banana: Actually it's even better, since I moved my cruise dates from August to September and these were much cheaper Disney wanted to make a refund to my credit card, but instead of that, I asked them to apply my remaining balance (about $750) as OBC :woohoo: That money will pay most of our excursions, Palo, Remy and, why not, a few Bahama Mamas as well LOL!! :lmao: :yay:

Awesome!! I've got some cash stashed in a U.S funds account plus the travellers cheques from our last trip that are left over, so I think I'm covered for any shopping and extras I want. I just have to snag my airfare now. You are flying from Spain?

You are flying from Spain?

Yep, We are Flying American Airlines into Miami on Sept 4th, there are not non-stop flights from Madrid to Orlando :sad2: and I HATE long aiport layovers! Can you believe it? Will be flying back to Spain on the 24th.

:welcome: to all the newbies! Glad to have everyone. I am going to try to get tickets for the Kennedy Space Center for after the cruise from my congressman. Has anyone else ever tried this? Or David, since you live there do you know anything about this? I'd really like to visit but visiting for free would be even better:)

Welcome to all the new additions!

Congrats on the 10K! I am training for my first half marathon. The ultimate goal is to run the Disney Half Jan. 2013 and then do a cruise on the Fantasy. I did a 5K in 2009 to celebrate turning 40. But have not enjoyed running since and then the bug bit me. I am loving it. We will start off with some 5Ks and then a couple 10Ks and then a couple half marathons before doing the Disney one. My DH is much faster than I am but we have fun training together. I am using the Galloway method and my time is improving.

When you do the CC 5K, what time do you head out? Do you bring your stuff for the day or do you have to go back to the ship for it? My whole family would be interested in doing the 5K.

Sweet! Thanks for this tip! I just emailed my congressman.

Let me know how it goes for you. We are going to try and get them for before the cruise. I was going to send the request the beginning of March. It seems like the earlier you request (at least 6 months in advance) the better chance you get of receiving them. Good luck! Keep us posted.

We emailed ours about a month ago and haven't gotten any response yet. I'll send a follow-up email again soon.

Good luck to everyone - hope we all get tickets!

If I remember well, you meet at the gangway at 8:30, I think it took us about 25 minutes to complete the 5K so you get back to the ship at 9. I remember I had enough time to take a shower and was on the family beach by 9:30. When you get back to the ship after the 5K, someone (in our case a guy called Jay) gives you ice cold bottled water and takes your name and cabin number, later that evening a finisher's certificate :woohoo: showed up in our room, that was so nice and made a cool keepsake :thumbsup2

This is how they organized the 5K run on the Magic, not sure if it will be the same on the Dream though.

I haven't done this either Shannon, but I do know of a couple of people who have done this. And, it is like Mlipreston said, the sooner you request the better chances you have of getting the tickets. I'll keep my fingers, (& toes), crossed for everyone, and hope you get your tickets. (I tried crossing my eyes too, but they almost got stuck............ain't do'in' that again!!!!):sad2:

Ok, DW and I were talking the other night. And I couldn't answer her question, so I'm going to ask all of you Disney cruise veterans. The last time we cruised we were unable to get Palo ressies, dinner or the brunch. Does anyone know if Disney offers Palo brunch on the 3 and 4 day cruises? Or just the 4 day, or not at all?:confused3 Thanks everyone.

I'm pretty sure Palo brunch is only offered on the 4 nighters, actually the day at sea.

Yep, Palo brunch is offered on the at-sea day of the 4-night cruises. Mike and I actually did the brunch when we cruised the past September and LOVED it. It was our first time, and I never really understood why everyone made such a big deal about it. Then we tried it, and now I totally understand. It's definitely well worth it! We haven't decided if we're going to try it this time or not since we're cruising with family. But if you're even slightly thinking about it David, then you should definitely go for it!! Believe me, you won't regret it!
