Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

Nice weather here today. We have the good old (new actually) AC on in the house! Going to try and get some laundry hung up on the laundry tree outside instead of using the dryer (and family of 6 produces a ton of never ending laundry).
DS6 has decided he wants a pirate party for his birthday the end of next month. THere is this company call "Pirate Adventures", they actually have a pirate ship out on the canal. They dress the kids up in pirate costumes, discover a map, decipher the map, search for the treasure, share the bounty, defend the ship against pirate Pete using the water cannons and then they make pirate Pete Walk the Plank! Then we have the party tent for an hour after on land for cake ect.... Sounds fabulous and will be my pseudo Disney Fix I need right now! I booked it yesterday, lets just HOPE for good weather the day of the party, as this is obviously an outdoor event.

As for DS17, he's great. But our system here is moving slowly. The attack happened last Sunday night, the detective finally called yesterday (thursday), and has set up a meeting with my son for Monday! (why not Today?). Walmart has actually done better! They have suspended 3 individuals and at least two are likely to be fired. They have gotten stories from all of them, and they all admit to some involvement but point the culpability at each other (of course). The attacker himself, had just quit or was let go from Walmart in the few weeks prior, so he is Known, name address ect.... He WILL be charged, it's just taking some time. Likely he not much will happen to the guy, depending on any prior charges that may or may not exist. But having him charged even is great. I will talk to the officer about resitution (thats new here and even in my opinion, is more helpful as a first course outcome rather than time in jail or house arrest ect....
We'll see. Can't wait for Monday evening, to hear what the officer has done and will do.

TJ, glad to hear your son is doing well.

Weather down here is Sunshine and more Sunshine. If anyone wants to share their rain, please send it down my way.

Headn' to Vegas heh Goofydad. And, another wedding!!!! Well, congratulations to the bride and groom. I hope they have many Happy Years together.

Well, it's time for me to head home from work. I'll talk to ya'll again soon.

How is everyone today? Well I got to say, I don't know which one of you out there read my last post.................:worship:but you know who you are:worship:............but you sent that rain we needed last night!!!!:dance3::woohoo::woohoo: DW and were sitting on the couch watching some TV and we heard it raining outside. And it wasn't just alittle sprinkle either. It came down pretty good!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, whoever you are.
Well, it's time for me to go out and do my yard work. My week-end wouldn't be complete with out working outside.:cool1::cool1:

You're welcome!:thumbsup2:laughing:

Ragdoll, it was you??!!??? I should have known it would be you!!! Pssstttt...........lean in a little.........Just wanted to let you know you are my favorite poster on here.:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Well, I did survive a tortrous day out there today. The sun was beating down on me trying to get me to give up. But, I wouldn't do it. I hung in there!!!! I worked circles around nosy neighbor today. He was sweating like some farm animal today. I laughed at him and at my tough situation that lay ahead of me. I was relentless, driven to succeed in this trying time. My grass taunted me, saying things like "I don't really need to be cut today", and, "take the day off and rest, you deserve it." But, I didn't listen, I hopped on my trusty ol' riding tractor and mowed them all down. I pulled weeds, weeds that grow where I want my grass to grow but won't. Darn those weeds. And, I ended up the day satisifed that I did my job to the best that I could. And,
I GOT SUN BURNED for all of my trouble.:cool2:

Happy Monday ya'll. I have to ask, are all of you as happy as I am that it is Monday!!!!:banana: A new week is starting ahead of us here. We should embrace it and have a great week. (DW:love: says I'm one sick puppy!!! She asked me if my mom dropped me on my head when I was a baby. You know......................come to think of it..................mom always was kind of a butter fingers. She was always dropping things. You don't suppose.................naw, it couldn't be..............she wouldn't............ not her favorite son..........she always said I was her favorite son............... you don't suppose that is why I was her favorite.................because she dropped.................naw................can't be................could it??!!???? I do have this indentation in the back of my head........................................... nawwwwww..........couldn't be!!!!!)And, then nosy neighbor waved and said good-bye, as he drove out of his drive-way. What were we talking about???? Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooo.........................:scared1::scared1:
Have a nice day!!!!!:yay:

David, Me thinks you need a VACATION!

It's A STAT Holiday here today, so no work! All PLAY! Now I just have to get movitvated to go play, lol! Taking my boys downtown today, it's HOT HOT HOT OUT! Heat WAVE! Wanted to get some laundry on my line too, I LOVE that Fresh Dried outside kind of smell on the clothes!

An update on DS17 situation. 3 Walmart employes who were previously suspended, have now been fired! I must admit, to some extent I feel sorry for one them (DS's Former Girlfriend). We've known her for over a year. She lost her mom to cancer when she was 9, and aspires to be a nurse, saving for college for this fall to fufill her dreams. Now she doesn't have a job.
I did say to a SMALL extent, because ultimately, she DID this to herself! OH, the lessons our youth must learn, and sometimes the hard way. THat one incident, of being involved in the beatdown of another, could cost her her career (especially if the police press charges against her!).

Any way, Gotta get ready to head to DOWNTOWN OTTAWA, and taking our house guest "FLAT STANLEY"! I'll post some pics later, and tell ya's ALL about FLAT STANLEY! :)

Morning to one and all. Well, TJ I agree me thinks me needs a vacation bad!!! So looking forward to our cruise this fall.:cool1: (I have to admit here, and I'm sure I can speak for DW also, that we wish it was a Disney Cruise instead of on the Oasis.) Don't get me wrong from everything we've read about the Oasis it sounds like a fabulous ship. And, I'm sure we will have a fun time, but it won't be a Disney Cruise. TJ take a bunch of photo's on your Halloween Disney Cruise you won't mind sharing so all of us on here can almost feel like we were there too!!! I know you will have a great time. When we went on our Halloween cruise back in 08' Emily went trick-or-treating on board the Wonder. She thought that was GREAT!!!!:thumbsup2:cool1::thumbsup2 I know your kids are going to love it too.
Well, I can see by the ol' clock on the wall it's time for me to start work.:scared::headache: Talk to you later!!!

Hello everyone! We just booked this cruise. It will be me, my DH, and DS-5 years old. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise.

Talk to you guys soon! Tina

Retroloco, let me the first to say :welcome::welcome::welcome: to our thread. We have a pretty good bunch here, and I think you will have a good time while we all pass the time until the cruise. A few of us are doing a back2back. DW, myself, and our daughter and her family are doing the 4 day cruise and then staying onboard and doing the 3 day right after. There are a few others on this thread doing the same thing. TJBaggott and her family are, and I believe Goofydad24 and his family, along with Ragdoll are too. Correct me guys if I'm wrong, OK!!! We all are excited about sailing on the new Disney Dream!!! DW and I also are going to go on the Disney Fantasy when it comes out.
Well, I've said enough, plus I need to get to work. Ya'll have a great day, talk to ya'll soon.:yay::banana:

pixiedust:YES! WELCOME RETROLOCO!pixiedust:

The DREAM, The DREAM!!! I can't WAIT!!! We are surprising my mother and her other half with this cruise also! They will receive this as their Christmas gift THIS YEAR, then have 8 months to get excited and plan for it!
My own family for this trip will consist of Myself (Judy), DH (Martyn), and our two boys who by then will be ages 13 and 8. They too don't know about this cruise yet, and also will be surprised with it this Christmas. Our two older children will be at College and working fulltime (hopefully). They are currently 17 and 18 years old and both are set now to start college this September. One is Leaving home for his, the other, just applied today and will be living at home to attend a local College. By the time our B2B portion is finished will will have been on 5 Disney Cruises (I think that means we move up a Castaway Level?).

I've made a graphic for the cruise, it's on page 6 I think or round abouts there. If you would like one personalized, just let me know (if you are into magnet making or T-Shirt making, lol).

Again, WELCOME!

I know, I know never assume anything, I'm an idiot!!! But, what I was going to say Judy, may I call you Judy? makes some wonderful graphics, for door magnets or T-shirts. I asked her to personalize a couple for me for this cruise and they look GREAT. Thanks again Judy. We have an ARTIEST in our group everyone!!!

Hope you all have a relaxing fun filled long weekend! Our long weekend (Victoria Day Weekend) was last weekend, and I was working. But I did have the Monday free to spend with my family. I mentioned earlier about our House Guest Stanley that was here last weekend and earlier this past week. FLAT STANLEY is his Real Name, and he was visiting us from FLORIDA!

On our Holiday Monday, we took Stanley Downtown to see all there was to see. First we stopped by the Science Museum, they have a train, lighthouse and Rocket Ship on the front lawn of the Museum. The kids had fun running around the vast lawn area there. It was amazing to see the results of our City's recent pecticide Ban! I'm ALL for that Ban, but it was the sight of the consequences. All the Dandelions! It would have looked lovely if the yellow heads had still been on them, but they weren't so it truly looked like thousands of weeds on the grass. You can see what I mean in this photo.

[/IMG]

Then we were off to downtown Ottawa! We headed up to Parliament Hill to try and find a Canadian Mounted Police Officer. Ottawa is our Nations Capital and the Parliament buildings House our Government. Well it really WAS a HOT day, so that might explain why the Mounties weren't out and about. BUT we did see and RCMP Regular Police Officer. I told DS6 to ask him if Stanley could have his picture taken with the Officer. Well, when we approached the Officer, before we could even say HELLO, the officer looked at us and then pointed to Stanlely and said "I KNOW HIM! I Want my picture taken with him!" And so he did! He even put his handcuffs on stanley for Fun!

Then we showed Stanley the ETERNAL FLAME (but the true name is The Cenntenial Flame) in front of the Parliament Buildings. This flame was first lit in 1967 (the year of my birth) and to this day remains. It is actually extinguished in inclement weather and routinely for cleaning, but in all my years in this City, I've NEVER seen the Fountain without the Flame!

Next, across the street from the Parliament Buildings, was the new location of the TERRY FOX STATUE. Not sure if you all know who Terry Fox was, but I credit him, as One Huge Reason why we still have our DD with us today. Terry had Osteosarcoma, bone cancer, and had planned on running across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He never did make it across Canada, his cancer returned horribly a few months into his run, but still he raised before he died, 24.1 million dollars ( the exact amount of Canada's population at that time). A few months after his death, the First Annual Terry Fox Run was held in Canada and across the World, and that first run raised 3.5 million dollars for cancer research. It was research that took place after Terry died, using funds raised, that resulted in a turn around for Childhood Leukemia. Back then survival rates were around 5%, today they are 95%! Yes, Terry helped save my Child!

Next, Stanley wanted to try some True Canadian Cuisine! (Actually Canadian-French Quisine) POUTINE AND A PEPSI! For those who don't know what Poutine is (pronounced Poo-teen), it's French Fries,Gravy and Cheese Curds. YUMMMMMM!
070.jpg
[/IMG]

Stanley also had fun feeding the birds!
071.jpg
[/IMG]

Then we were off to the Canal to seel the LOCKS in opperation, to let the boats travel from the Canal, Down to the Ottawa River.

We visited the Cats on the Hill (thats a story within itself!), had fun with the statues all around the parliament buildings, then Tim and Stanley were quite tuckered out so we headed home.

But alas a visit to Canada is just not complete without a Stop at TIM HORTONS!

There, Hope you enjoyed hearing about Stanley and learning a little about the City in which we live!

Oh and before I head off to have fun on my FIRST weekend of NO MORE WORKING, I had to share this photo. My DS17 and DD18 are both Graduating Highschool this year (DS this month and DD next month) and they had their High School Prom last night. They both Looked Stunning! I am SOOooooo proud of them! DS will be leaving home late August, for College 20 hours away. He will be living in the College Dorm. DD is now registered for our local College and will continue living at home. WOW, two College Bound kids in one year! We'll have to tighten our Wallets, thats for sure, LOL. Be sure to read about Stanley on the previous page!

TJ, (Sue) that was a great report on Flat Stanley you did.:thumbsup2 The photo's were great of him and your city. I enjoyed seeing your lovely city.:cool1: Emily, our granddaughter for a class project a couple of years ago had to go around and have pictures taken with Flat Stanley too. Until Emily did her report with Flat Stanley we had never heard of him. So it was very interesting to see him up there in your neighborhood traveling around. It was good to see him again. And the photo of your oldest son and daughter was great. I can see why you are so proud of them and your whole family.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Well, we are going to take it easy this week-end and relax around the pool with Emily. Of course she will be doing her infamous cannonball splashes in the pool. Papa, that's me, will have to show her my infamous cannonball splashes. I'll probably cramp up and end up doing a belly flop!!!!! Oh well, all good fun!!!

Everyone have a fun a safe holiday week-end this week-end. Sue, you have a nice and safe week-end too. I guess your holiday week-end was last week-end, but have fun and be safe.

Keep have those Disney thoughts and dreaming those Disney Dreams!!:woohoo::donald::mickeyjum:tigger::sulley::dumbo::ccat:

TJ, (Sue) that was a great report on Flat Stanley you did

JUDY (not sue) :rotfl2:

Yep, it was fun having Stanley here. I never knew DS6 could read so WELL till DH brought home a Chapter book on Flat Stanley's first Adventure! DS has gotten right into it! Amazing to see how his reading skills have climbed up SO MUCH!

There are some bad forest fires in Quebec, has been for the past several days, the locations of which are at least 400+ KM away from Ottawa, but we awoke this morning to a smoke has over our City, and when I stepped out onto the front porch, the smell of a burning fire. This smoke is from those Quebec Fires! Added to that is a lot of humidity today and the air quality is thus VERY poor.

So guess we are staying indoors today, Windows Shut, Air Conditioner on, and happy kids playing!

Judy, I'm soooooooooo sorry!! Boy oh boy is my face ever red!!!:headache: You can just call me stupid, the village idiot, Or whatever else you think should fit the crime!!! (Like DW tells me I had a senior moment there!!!)

Judy, I'm soooooooooo sorry!! Boy oh boy is my face ever red!!!:headache: You can just call me stupid, the village idiot, Or whatever else you think should fit the crime!!! (Like DW tells me I had a senior moment there!!!)

 Shamefully, I'll admit, I have at least one moment like that EVERYDAY! Saturday, I went to the bank, for the 3rd time in the past 12 months to get a new debit card. Thankfully, it wasn't the same teller as the first two times! The previous time I lost my card and got a new one, I found the lost one 6 months later! This last time, I've searched high and low, and couldn't find it, so had to get a new one, and I KNOW chances are, I WILL find the lost one eventually.
If you ask my DH, he thinks I lost my mind years ago.

Once he drove me with all our kids in the back of the van, to Michael's Craft store. I had to pick up one item, so he waited in the van while I ran in and grabbed what I needed. When I came out, I was busy reading the coupons on the back of my receipt, but I could see the van in my Upper? peripheral vision. I walked to the van, opened the door, climbed in, all the while still reading my lovely coupons. When the van's engine didnt' start, and I looked up, about to say to DH "What the heck are you waiting for". To my HORROR  there WAS a man sitting in the drivers seat, AND KIDS in the back, BUT THEY WEREN'T MY DH OR MY KIDS!!! The guy was looking at me, knowing how embarrassed I now was and you could tell he was trying his darndest NOT to LAUGH!! With Huge Apologies, I got out as fast as I could and there was my DH in OUR van, across the way, LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY at me!
There, do you feel better now, that I've shared one of my most Senior Moments!
