Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

On our recent trip down to Florida for our Cruise on the Magic, we noticed every time we pulled up to a toll booth, the strong smell of gas fumes. We just assumed at the time it was Someone else's vehicle of course. It wasn't till we were back home here, when using the interior heat bringing in air from outside, that we realized it was OUR vehicle! We took it in for an oil change that was needed after putting that much mileage on it, and asked them, to investigate the cause of the gas fumes. They called me later to inform me that it would cost $487.00 to investigate as it meant taking part of the engine apart. :scared1: Now, I KNOW when you smell gas fumes coming from your vehicle, it's likely going to be an expensive fix, but to have an expensive investigation into what needs to be fixed is ridiculous. So we told them, forget it. I called another place our vehicle has also been to. The difference between these two repair shops is one is a HUGE Nationwide chain, and the other is privately owned. Well the guy that owns the privately owned independent shop told me to bring it in. He was shocked at what the big chain told us, and that "$45.00 is all we'll charge just to investigate what is the cause, then we'll go from there as to the cost of fixing it". Now this guy, my DH used to go to school with, so I'm not sure if he told me that because there is a familiar link, or if that is actually their price. Anyway, I'm sitting here waiting for THE call from them, to tell me how much this is going to be to get our van in safe running condition. This call will determine weather or not I pay off my trip before or after the end of this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as today was PAYDAY, and I'm SOOOOO ready to make my final payment! Truly though, how unbelievable is that? I mean the price differnce between two very reputable shops, is phenomanal! Wish me luck!

David, my TA sent it, along with another DVD. The DVD however is still a 2010 one. :)

DW & I wish you good luck from our household Judy.:thumbsup2 I know car repairs are expensive. But that chain repair shop sounds way out of line. Hope it is just a minor repair.

Judy, did the book your TA sent you have anything new in it about the Dream? I hope my TA sends me one!!!!:thumbsup2

Well everyone, today is the day!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Today is the day Disney is suppose to get the keys to the Dream!!! I hope someone films the ceremony so all can see. Let us know if anyone sees something posted on the internet.

Well, got to go back to work now. Ya'll have a great day today!!! And, GOOD LUCK again Judy.:cool1:

It's an 8.5 x 11 book. Navy Blue, with a giant port hole in the middle and the graphic that is on the bow of the Disney Dream, close up showing through that port hole. At the Top of the book it says DISNEY CRUISE LINE. At the bottom there are 2 lines, the first reads 2011 DISNEY CRUISE LINE VACATIONS. The next line reads "DISCOVER OUR NEWEST SHIP --DISNEY DREAM"

There are 5 chapters in the book and the 1st 3 are devoted to the DREAM! The last two are devoted to the Magic and Wonder. Ask your TA about it!:thumbsup2

OMG I have spent hours on this board after booking my first Disney Cruise. I can not wait to cruise The Disney Dream on 9/11/11 with my family. I think I am more excited than the kiddos. I have cruised about 7 times but have heard nothing but excellent things about Disney. I can not wait! :goodvibes

We are booked in a category 8A. I can't wait to see how this room looks since it is more square than rectangle with no pictures anywhere showing how the room looks.

Also I bet you guys will get a kick out of this. My hubby and I plus our friends were on the Carnival Splendor (my cruise to no where) on 11/7/10. Yep the ship that had the fire and was all over the news. I'm sure this Disney cruise will be way better. LOL!

I think I too get more excited than the kids. And WOW :scared1: The Carnival Splendor! That truly must have been an adventure you won't want to repeat! Did you make the best of things under the circumstances? I can't imagine what that must have been like, ,,,, well ya I can imagine but I'm sure it doesn't come close to the real experience.
Glad to have you on board with us though! :)

DW and were folowing your Splendor cruise on TV. I am glad everyone got home safely. I know it had to be a bit scary at first, thankfully everything was fine. You and your DH will have a great time on the new Disney Dream. We all are looking forward to getting on this beautiful ship. Again, welcome melpreston.

I'm thinking, considering adding the 3 day cruise on and turning this BACK into a B2B for Tim and myself. Problem right now is there are no more CAT 9's available, and what I have for THIS cruise is a 9GTY. The thing that was holding me back was the airfare flying out on the Sunday. It was SHOCKING! But today I investigated, What if I fly out the next day instead, the Monday, and low and behold, the airfare is LESS than if I just do the 4 day and fly home that Thursday! So airfare is not a problem. I'll have to search for a Hotel for that disembarkation day on the Sunday and hopefully a Cat 9A opens and the price hasn't gone up too much if at all, and then maybe, maybe..............:)

My Sisters, Brother in Law,Nephews, and I will be on board the Dream next year. I don't know who's more excited me or my nephews.
Sorry DW, I'll book our 2012 Fantasy cruise while on board.

That is GREAT NEWS Judy!!! DW and i are keeping our fingers crossed for you. Hopefully you will be able to get the same stateroom so you won't have to pack-up between the back2back. We'll keep our fingers & toes crossed for you!!!! (Awwwwwwww:scared1::scared1: I got a cramp in my foot.........got to uncross my toes!!!!)

For those of us doing B2B, this cruise and the 3 day AFTER, there is now a Thread up and running for the 3 day Should anyone want to check it out, COME ON OVER!

An FE exchange is being organized for that 3 day. Was anyone here interested in that for this 4 day? :)

I know my family is interested in an FE for the 4day 9/11-15 cruise. I'm going with both of my sisters and Brother in law and nephews. I'm trying to talk my DW into meeting me for the 9/15-18 cruise. The Dream will be my first Disney cruise...So excited!
See you all next year,
Dee

Hi Sis!
Dee

Woo Hoo! You are on this site as well. Thinking about booking our airfare since it is cheap right now out of Ontario. I hate flying out of LAX. OK I'm gonna try to not sign onto the site anymore today. Reading everything is getting a little obsessive. :goodvibes

:scared1: You had me really excited there for a minute! Cheap flights out of Ontario...... OOOOHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, California.......... Not Canada:sad2: Oh well, I found some good deals out of SYR. But I wont' book airfare till my cruise is paid off in January. Hopefully the prices I found, stay the same OR lower :thumbsup2

Although I'm not currently booked on the B2B anymore (hoping to get the 3 day back though), I'd love to participate in an FE exchange on this 4 day! Is anyone else wanting to head that up?. (There will be 6 of us) :)

LOL on the Ontario comment. I used to actually live in Ontario and everyone thought I meant Canada.

I hope someone steps forward with heading up the FE exchange. With it being my first Disney cruise not sure what it entails etc. but we will definitely participate in it!

I've headed up one before, on a 4 day and the group was pretty small, and it worked out great. Our last cruise, it also worked about Fabulousy but it was a LARGE group (of course, 7 days usually are), and I"m glad I wasn't the one completely in charge. That being said, I can step up if noone else is jumping for it, but would love some help keeping track of all who are going to participate, and other stuff if needed. :thumbsup2

David, I almost forgot to answer your question about the heat pads. The ones I have are stamped with the brand name TIKTAK HEAT. I can't find that specific name online BUT I found a different name of the same identical product (in fact the prices of this one online are BETTER than what I paid).
Here it is : http://www.3secondheat.com/?gclid=CJuXmq-G6KUCFY64KgodW14d4Q

DH doesn't know I got him the back pad, but tonight I just showed him my new mitten warmers. I had him click the coin inside and he was REALLY impressed with how hot the thing got! :)

I've noticed this morning at DCL online, that a few Cat 9A's have now opened. I don't know how long they'll stay open, but I'm now awaiting my TA to call me back about booking it. So keeping my fingers crossed that not only can I book it, but that I can keep that booking (van is going to cost a lot to get fixed). Getting a little worried though that DS13 might really get his nose out of joint that he's NOT going on this trip....... Hmmmmmmm We'll have to spoil him this summer! :thumbsup2

I've been working so much OT here at work I don't know if it is morning or afternoon. My boss is now interviewing for the open position. Hope he finds someone soon.............I'm wearing out fast!!!!:sad2:

Judy, thanks for the link for those heating pads you mentioned.:thumbsup2 I'm going to check them out. Also, keeping my fingers crossed your TA can get you the cat you want for the other 3 days.:banana:

Well, better get back to work. Ya'll have a great day!!!:woohoo::woohoo:
