The wave phones were installed on the Magic at the dry dock after last year's WBTA. My friends said they were great on their Xmas cruise on the Magic, fantastic way to keep in touch:thumbsup2

Mary thanks for sharing your pics, you just made me even more excited if that's possible!!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I am so glad they have the wave phones on the Magic now, we loved them on the Dream. They are so useful for when I lose DH. :rotfl2:

We bring our laptop so we can download ALL of our pictures and videos.. DH goes pic crazy:rotfl2:

Yep, we bring our netbook too......we take too many pics! :thumbsup2

I just checked out all the Dis 2011 Magic discussion groups and only one has 3 threads. Here we are getting ready to start our 3rd one.....so that must mean we are a very chatty group! :woohoo: I think that says a lot for this group! Keep it going fellow cruisers! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

was just checking new thread to see if i signed up for everything , but need help, what is place saver and place holder:confused: ???

It just means they've reserved a post so that can go back later and edit it to add the details for whatever it is they are organising. :thumbsup2

We needed to set up the new thread before it goes live and this one reaches the 250 page limit so I guess they saved a spot before going to work this morning and they will edit it when they get home or over the weekend.

Karen will let us know when it's ready to go, we are just trying to have all the information & events at the beginning so it's all in one place for everyone to see. :goodvibes

We are all so chatty the 250 pages don't last long. :teeth: I am sure we will have a 4th or even a 5th thread before we sail.....:lmao:

we're getting there slowly :)
just jacqueline (goofieslonglostsis), karen (pixiedustforme), and dan (cliffy97) still to put their info on there. not bad considering i only sent out the PMs in the last day or so. thanks to everyone for getting their bits in so quickly, looks like its going to be a nice seamless transition into the new thread!

ooh: i think someone suggested we stick the weekly recap on the front page too, off to PM lynne......

we've done 13 pages in the last 2 days, so at that rate, we'll have a new thread every month and a half or so!!

Sarah,

Stevie was browsing in youtube a few months ago and came across disney horn battles and had a look. The clip that came up was of the horn battle with the Norwegian Epic (or Norwegian Epi as the C light had blown lol) at St Maarten on the last WBTA.

During the clip, the camera panned round to Tony I think standing with a drink up on deck watching the sail away and then the next part of the clip was me dashing downstairs to get ready to go to Palo that evening as it was our wedding anniversary. Stevie was in the background hanging over the rail watching the sail away.

Was it you filming?

:rotfl2:

It was indeed me filming ... I try and stay behind the camera wherever possible !!! That horn battle was EPIC !!!!

:beach: We're going to Dawn Beach! :beach:

WE're going to Maho beach !!

When we get to St Maarten, I am heading to the shop of the Yoda Guy. Nick Maley is the creator of the YODA character in the "Star Wars" movies. He has an incredible shop and gallery, where you can look/purchase lithos signed by him. He is often in the shop and takes the time to greet guests. :thumbsup2

Five yrs ago, we purchased a litho for one of our dd,who loves all things Star Wars. He was in England at the time for a funeral, but we left our dd name and address, and 3 weeks later she received a note from him to her personally. If you enjoy Star Wars, this might be a St Maarten consideration. Caroline

WE came across this Star Wars place when we were in St Maarten .. it was a bit surreal and very bizarre. I have photos somewhere I will have to post.

Second cruise, we participated in the adult costume contest in WaveBands (October cruise = Halloween fun!) and the games afterwards. We teamed up with another couple and had to find all kinds of crazy stuff. I was the designated "runner" - I ran up to the emcee with our stuff and ran around the room trying to get things we needed from other people. My favorite was "a tattoo." No one on our team had any, so I ran around the room looking at people and saying, "You there, you look like you have a tattoo! Come with me!" All the while, I was dressed in my Halloween costume:

(this was at MNSSHP)

I really love doing crazy things like that. I'm not shy - or proud.

Love your Halloween costume. :thumbsup2

(1) Sarah/Tony and Sandy/Tony can attest to how much fun our Halloween '08 cruise was - significantly so due to the DISboard group. We had a cruiser named Shooshie (who went to work for Disney the week following our cruise) who was very good about getting others to join in the activities. I played trivia games, attended the nighttime adult cabaret shows (around 10:15 in Rockin' Bar D) and just felt so much a part of a happy group. It is great to walk into a room and have others wave you over (especially as a single) and have people to sit with and laugh and play.

yes it was an excellent cruise .... the one that got me hooked !!

Thanks! Dennis and I love to do theatre - in fact, we met when we were in a play at our community theatre. Give me an excuse to put on a costume and makeup and act crazy, and I'll take it!

At MNSSHP, I was "looking for my next late husband" and Dennis was my caterer. He works part time for a caterer in town, so he just wore his "sous chef gear" for his costume. I bought my dress online and added the other bits from the local party stores.

My kids are very much like that .. they love dressing up. They are into this Cosplay thing where you go to media conventions in costumes ... very odd indeed.

We hired a car last year and went to Maho Beach to watch the aircraft. It was great fun. We didn't get involved in the whole getting blown across the beach and hanging onto the fence, but sat at the Sunset Bar and got loads of great photos.

It really was a fun day out, it is amazing seeing the aircraft flying so low.

We just wandered up the town in the afternoon, with the compulsory trip to Diamonds International :cloud9: how much do I love my DH :worship: lol

You have to be careful if you go across to Maho Beach as apparently the bridge opens in the afternoon to let the shipping traffic through and holds up all the vehicles in the process. All the websites warn you to get back across to the main town as early as possible in the afternoon so that you don't get stuck in the traffic and miss ship boarding time... apparently its happened before

We had no trouble, we waited until we saw a 747 and then left to be on the safe side.

All in all a fantastic day :thumbsup2

Can't wait to go there .. Tony wants to do the whole hanging on the fence thing. I don't think behaviour like that is covered by our travel insurance somehow :confused3:confused3

I love the dress you are wearing in this photo.

Some pictures from Maho Beach :rotfl2:

You can see Lynne (Orlandothebeagle) lying on the sand. She got blown across the sand and just gave up and took cover! The photos really do not do it justice, it is really an hilarious must see for yourself !! :lmao::thumbsup2

St Maarten was a scorching hot day last year

Amazing photos .. is that really Lynne? Has she seen this photo !! She does have a video on youtube taken by herself when she was rolling in the sand.

This is sooo coooool!!! We will definitely be watching from the bar, with a refreshing adult beverage (or three) in hand! :drinking1 No fence hanging for us, I'm afraid. :rotfl:

We are going to Maho Beach too, although I haven't told Lee about the planes I was going to let him just see them when we get there. But I know he will be hanging from the fence.....I'll come and join you in the bar and we'll let the men do the extreme sports. :rotfl2:

Just a quick post; Karen have updated the candyswap info. Thanks for the headsup PM. Wouldn't have found it otherwise in this busy thread and so little time. Sigh.

Lynne; :worship: on the recap! Keep up the good work, love it! Funny, informative, too the point and capturing the week highlights.

Pat; great custome!

Who was it again that is a cheap Dutchwoman in disguise living in Scotland when it comes to dresses? I am sooo horrible in remembering names, nicks and faces. *insert big blushing smilie* Anyway, I scored my dresses anywhere between BP6.99 to BP11.25 plus shipping (max. is BP3.99 per dress). If that is cheap enough, sent me a PM for the links. Could just very easily miss such a post on this thread with the current speed and my lack of DIS-time.

Hmm what was best enjoyed on previous cruise? Palo, relaxing on deck 9 with a book in a quite corner, watching shows on the tv when not feeling upto going to the theater for whatever reason (they broadcast live, so no need to miss anything when tired, not wanting to be in the buzz or expecting kids to fall asleep halfway through and them getting cranky if waken up while walking back to the room), interacting with CM's and fellow guests (before you know it half the ship feels like old friends).

Also I went to the world premiere of Toy Story 3. Best place to do that is aboard the Magic! :thumbsup2:goodvibes Did the TS-marathon. Watched one and two first in 3D and then it was time for the premiere. :dance3: Another great time at the movietheater; joining the presentation about WDW-planning. Was a CM from imagineerdep. that held a great talk about WDW imagineerdevelopment, upcoming changes to WDW etc. Was around the time the new changes to WDW were just announced and we had a look of all of the drawings, plans etc. Perfect timing! All in all very enjoyable, esp. since the CM himself was new to DCL, giving such a talk and obviously enjoyed the DCL-experience but had to get over his first minutes fear during the speak. Loved the real love for the job he showed in all his newness and somewhat clumbsiness. Couldn't have faked that.

Mandygirl.......did you know that the video by Kenny Chesney "No Shoes, No Shirts, No Problems" was filmed there at White Bay/Ivan's Stress-Free Bar? I watched it and realized it was that bar. Really cool! :thumbsup2 Makes me a little more excited about the Tortola excursion (not that I wasn't already pumped as it was! lol:banana:)!

Gosh Karen get off my back already...:-) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My part is up! I am starting to get soooo excited and I have 3 holidays before this one.

Wow, everyone! We were out of town for two days and it's taken me half the day to catch up. :surfweb:

I've just changed my flights to the day before and I have booked the Novotel City hotel. :yay: Is anyone else staying there?

I hope I win the lottery tonight I'm gonna need the funds. ;)

Welcome aboard. We are Leanne, DH Ken, DD Morgan (9) and DM Dorothy and DF Ted. We are also staying at the Barcelona City Novotel. Our flight is getting in a bit later however we are hoping to get to the Carrefour and Disney store before they close.
