When we leave for the airport on Friday what ever I've forgotten stays behind with all the stress of packing..... when it's out of my control it will be great


we will be spending my birthday at Myrtle beach, and was thinking we would celebrate at The Melting Pot, does anybody know what this resturant chain is like

I am a fan of cheese fondue and think their classic Swiss one with Emmenthaler & Swiss is the best thing on their menu.

Meals take a while there, so plan on about 2 hours. They usually are low lit and ate set up in most of the newer locations to give a sense of privacy.

If you get a salad, get dressing on the side.

I have been to locations in varios locations around the country; consistently above-average food.

Yes ... she made it to Seattle in one piece and negotiated the aircraft change at Minneapolis. It was the longest 12 hours for me though!

I agree with Lynne - we like the Melting Pot. It's a fun place to go as a group, but we often see a lot of couples there for events like anniversaries, dates, etc.

Honestly I think the cheese course and the dessert course are best - the main dinner course is just a time killer between the two.

Thanks for all the input. It will just be me and the boys on the flight home as mom is staying to do a couple days at WDW with 2 of my nieces. So I really need a row of three seats together, which is why I am more nervous than usual, even with the family boarding. My mom wants to stay on the bus, she just think it sounds like less hassle. I remembered that SWA has an option for $10 per person to get preferred boarding and they check you in automatically, so I opted to do this. I wonder if that is why SWA doesn't participate with DCL, since they offer something of a similar service on their own.

Can you do the online checkin 24 hours in advance from the ship, then do the bag drop? That way you at least get your boarding pass letter/number secure? (Then you just do "bag drop" at the ticket counter)

And also, what about "family boarding" if your youngest son is under a certain age? You board immediately after the A boarding group if you qualify and have a B or C boarding pass...

Oh my goodness, don't you just want stomp your feet when you can't get through to someone what you are asking. I know in the past when I have been dropped off by Magical Express in the SWA area, there have been skycaps there with big carts for luggage. That might be an option for you. I would opt for the limo, but that's just me. You don't have to wait for everyone else to get off bus, etc.

I believe if your youngest is under 5, the child and one person can pre-board. After the "A's" then there is family boarding. I am not sure what the age restrictions are, have not had to pay attention to that.

Are they going directly from the ship to the airport? You can checkin on line 24 hours ahead. When we get near the coast of Fla. Their cell phone should work without roaming charges, and you can go ahead and check in. You can print your boarding passes at the airport so don't worry about printing them when checking in.

Danae - have someone at home get your boarding passes, 24 hrs in advance. Much easier to have the passes saved, and then print them at the airport. SWA also has the 24 hr plus check-in (early bird check-in) for an additional $10 each. I did that in May when I knew I would be at the parks and not want to go back and check-in. The lower your check-in position, the easier to get 3 seats together.

It comes down to what has been negotiated between the two. I think SWA is available for checkin at all the hotels now so maybe soon there will be an agreement with DCL, but that doesn't help you now does it. I think you did
the best thing for you by doing the Early Checkin. I worked in Reservations for almost 20 years when I retired 4 years ago from SWA. There have been a lot of changes since then

This will give you peace of mind and you can relax. You can still get a skycap at the airport to help with your bags.

We've never had a problem getting a row of 3 on SWA when you have a small child. You'll be able to get on after the A boarding but before the B. You just usually have to go to the way back... but I like it better back there any way

Hi from Mike and Tracy, we look forward to meeting you all on our first ever cruise

we will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on the trip.

Staying in Barcelona the night before and we have a couple of days in Orlando toget our land legs before heading home to Scotland.

Booked for Christmas & New Year in Orlando but all on land.

It used to be at least, not sure if things have changed in the last year or so, that at MCO there is the top level which is where you drop off; the middle level where you pick up; and the bottom level where you can walk to the parking garage and also where buses park. So from what I understand, the Disney Express will park on the bottom level and we will have to take the elevator or escalators up to the top floor and check in. BTW, if you are ever picking someone up late at night, have them meet you at the top level because it is deserted while the middle level is chaotic.

I called about a limo and it is a little less, but my mom doesn't want to deal with it - she feels it is "safer" to just ride with Disney, so that is what we are going to do. I just feel like we aren't getting the best part of the transfer, which is that they take your bags on board...

We took the Disney transfer from the parks to the airport in March. As we got on the bus they asked who our carrier was and then dropped us outside the appropriate section on the departures level We were lucky and our airline's check-in desk was right in front of the doors as we entered the terminal. But I may be confusing our experience at Orlando with other airports/vacations as I do have a recollection of an elevator.....my memory is playing tricks on me...

I know Disney picks up incoming passengers on the lowest level.



Does your airline let you pay a fee to select your seats in advance? We always take this option, then we don't have to worry about getting to the airport as soon as check-in opens or about checking in on-line, and we are guaranteed to sit together.

We too have to collect our bags to go through Customs after diembarking from the ship and then take them to the bus, as it's only certain US domestic carriers that have onboard check-in, not Canadian ones. My pet peeve, when taking the Magical Express from WDW, is that Disney insists they need to have us at the airport 3 hours in advance of the flight time, whereas our carrier
says 2 hours is sufficient

Melting Pot is yummy, but just make sure you like cheese and chocolate!

It was such a beautiful day today that we decided to pop over to Pooh Corner and walk through the woods to visit Pooh Bridge and play some poohsticks.

We got the poohsticks for those that wanted them and whilst we were there we took some photos (fortunately it was later in the afternoon so it was very quiet down there, so much so all you could hear were the birds singings )

A fun fact for you all this evening .......
The Pooh Corner store that is in the photo (taken from car as so apologies for reflection ) was originally a sweet shop that Christopher Robin Milne and his nanny used to walk to from their house just up the road.

Massages are done. They were awesome. If anyone is in the Orlando area check in to the Florida College of Natural Health. These are students that are learning to be massage therapists and they offer 55 minute massages for $25. They did a wonderful job on ours. I think everyone in our group said so.

Canadian Cheddar Cheese soup. Yum. Always a good lunch with pretzel bread.

Now on to packing. What should I bring? Have to have it pretty much done tonight. So long night ahead of us.

The local college in my city trains students to be massage therapists, but I had never thought of finding out if they offered discounted massages in exchange for being a " guinea pig". I will have to look into that!

All I can say is thank you to the person (s) who recommended the packing cubes. OMG, my packing has never been so neat and so easy. 90% complete now - just shoes and little things.
Only 2 more nights of sleeping at home - I am thoroughly excited!!!
