*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

have just heard that DCL have decided not to implement the new alcohol policy on the 19th after all. it may change again in the future but apparently they've put it on hold for the time being

O thank what a relieve. Now we can have enough throug the whole cruise.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am so stressed and anxious right now .... but not about this cruise. Tomorrow my DD is leaving WDW at the end of her College Progamme ( yes .. that went quick !! ) and flying across the USA to Seattle via Detroit. I booked her flight a few days ago and sent her the E-ticket plus info relating to baggage costs, check in times, layover times etc. Since then I have heard nothing from her and don't know if she has got the E-ticket in her email, she hasn't been on Facebook etc either. I imagine she is just busy packing up and finishing her last shifts etc, but I am just so anxious that she gets safely to Seattle. She has never done anything like thsi completely on her own, as when she flew out to USA she was with a group and on a direct flight. I can't even think about the cruise this evening or anything else for that matter and I certainly won't sleep well tonight. Being a parent can be really hard sometimes :sad2::sad2::sad2:

I know what you feel. My son does the same. I mail him with some question and then ......nothing for days. I wait and if I heard to long nothing I give him a ring. And then he said: o yes I was totaly forgotten. He hasn't got a clue that I was so worried.
So don't worrie. She is so busy to pack and say goodbey to everybody that she totaly forget to answer you.

Does anyone know how much the internet charges on the ship are? If it proved too slow/difficult I guess I could do it in Gibraltar?

It is very expensive. I think we got like 500 min for $150 but the bad thing is that it is so slow that even if you manage to connect to a site it could take 30 min or more! You can forget any internet as we cross. No one could get online. They had to refund our $$ and most everyone else's. It just is not worth it.

Anyone that has done either the EBTA or WBTA before , can you recommend any places in ports that have good wifi?
Not fanatical about missing internet but would be nice when we get the chance to catch up on any emails etc as this is our only method of contact with home.

I think i remember someone saying before that Madeira has wifi if you sit in the park?

There are several spots in the ports. If you find a McDonald's it is free. In some ports we paid like $1 for an hour.

I know how you feel.. It is so hard for our children to be away from us. I think we tend to over worry. I'm sure she is fine. I believe you would be the first to know if there was an issue. I hope you hear from her soon. Kids just don't have a clue how much we worry about them!

OK.....for those of you who a while back recommended some authors/books for me to read on the cruise.....I picked The Concrete Blonde by Michael Connelly. I have been very good and not read all the books recommended (quite a few BUT not all!) to me. I hope it's a good one and thanks for all your suggestions! Now, if I can just leave the book alone for 9 days til we leave and not try to read it. Put. the. book. down. NOW! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I am still reading these posts, Deb :goodvibes

Thanks for all the info on traveling from Madrid to Barcelona. I have another question.. Has anyone ever rented a car and drove from Madrid to Barcelona? How long of a drive is that? I'm thinking that might be a fun way to go. I can take my time and see some sights....

Noel and John are visiting the fantasy in papenburg Germany and driving from there.

Good to see you posting Lynne. Did you get your stateroom number yet?

We changed our plans to drive only from Frankfort to Papenburg to Dusseldorf due to the time constraints. John felt it was just too risky drive the distance.

Yes, room 2030. My first time below deck 5, another new experience. And the rom is all mine, along with the remote control as I get ready for bed.

Glad to hear you are still visiting the fantasy - that is a rare experience.

I am feeling your pain over the navigator and lanyard snafu. Along with claire's and michelle's over venues with dcl. Thanks for your work, time and caring.

I noticed I still don't show up on the cruiser list. Ah, well.

We head out Friday for our pre-cruise week at Disneyland Paris. See you all on board!

I was afraid I scared you off. Glad to see you're still with us. See you on board - you'll be the cool one with icecicles dripping off?

Thanks for letting me know about room number. Added to list. Still working on the lanyard issue so may be light at the end of the tunnel

Sorry I not responding to everyone's PM's and emails as trying to getting lanyard issue sorted. Several people have asked for lanyards today but not sure if there will be enough at this point even if I get them in but will respond when I know lanyard shipment status.

I ordered 225 originally but I can do extra inserts for the DCL lanyards if I get more requests.

I would like to echo this statement. Since we booked this cruise (only at the end of June!) we have both had so much fun gettin to know everyone day by day and you have all been so helpful with odd questions from us first time cruisers.

It is actually a little sad that this part of the pre cruise is coming to an end as people now start to make their way towards Spain in various ways. Because this part for us has been made as good as I hope the actual cruise will be when we finally get to meet all of you.

I don't know what we will do with our time after the cruise with no chatting :confused3.

Think I'm feeling a bit sentimental today :lmao:

You go on more cruises to be with your DIS friends. I am sailing because goof princess and husband are inboard. We met on the Halloween 2008 western Caribbean (along with TotallyAngelic and Tony), then did the EBTA and Med together last year. And several of my peeps from last year's EBTA are inboard.

Did you forget about the reunion next year that we're already planning?

Flower -

You scared me.. From the DCL site I get this:

Diversions Diversions, a sports pub and lounge located on Deck 3, Forward in the Beat Street section on the Disney Magic and in the Route 66 section on the Disney Wonder, is a cozy venue where families can take part in fun-filled activities or watch a televised sporting event during the day; and adults can sing karaoke or enjoy a cocktail at night.

Sorry about that- it's painful trying to read a deck map where not everything is labeled. I must have gone through that darn ship 7 times before I gave up!

Hi everyone,

I hope all who aren't feeling well begin to feel better. Fortunately I am (which is great since Andrew and I leave on Sunday!).

Now for an update on the Stateroom Tour....

Our wonderful fellow cruisers have offered to show off their staterooms in the following categories: 3, 5A, 7A, 9A, 9D, 11A (accessible) and 11A (sideways) (but we can always use more!).

I am proposing that we gather on the 16th at the "not so secret" deck on 7. For those who have not cruised before, it is at the very back of the ship on Deck 7. We will gather there at 10:30 and progress from there to my stateroom (7631) for a look at the 11A (accessible) and then will progress from there to the rest of the staterooms that have volunteered as a group (that way even those of us offering our staterooms can have a peek too!).

I'm guessing that it will take an hour or so for us to all ohh and ahhh over each others door magnets and rooms.

If you haven't volunteered yet, no problem! Just sign up on the whiteboard outside my stateroom or call me by wavephone.

Thanks and I can't wait to see everyone!

Keri

Hi, Lauren:
We are arriving on September 9th at 7:35 a.m. on Air Canada. Our hotel is the Hilton Diagonal Mar.
Thanks, Connie & Dan Graves
DISname: csgraves

Are you flying through Montreal?

We are taking Air Canada too - Ottawa to Montreal, then Montreal to Barcelona, but flying next Weds, so arriving on the 8th :cool1:

:worship: I have packed one case and so far no clothes......don't know what i'm going to end up bringing - maybe 4 case?

How many cases are you allowed, Claire? Or are you paying for extra?

We're only allowed one case each in checked baggage, but can take a small roll on case, a bag and a coat in our hand luggage (plus a purse/handbag for me). So the hand luggage allowance will help:thumbsup2

Well that's DH all packed :cool1:

We managed to get everything in that he wanted together with 2 bottles of champagne and his full kilt regalia.... 23 kg exactly :thumbsup2

You are so organized, Mary!:) I can't even decide what clothes and shoes I'm taking:confused3.

For everyone that posted re. the Pooh corner candy and pooh sticks, sorry i didnt reply individually, i have made a note of all of your names, room numbers etc so will pay the shop a visit at the weekend :)

Thanks so much (if you got my message)! I'll pay you when I see you! :goodvibes

Karen
I will put aside a bag for you. We are going there at the weekend so if you would like a genuine Pooh stick collected just let me know :) or any other Pooh fans

I would absolutely love to have a genuine Pooh Stick :lovestruc Thank you so much for thinking of it. Will it be ok to pay you in US dollars on board ship? (#7129)

So what normally happens to a thread after a cruise ?

margaret

We can still post on it up to the 250 page mark I believe. Hopefully lots of people will write up trip reports and we can chat a little on those :goodvibes

Jacqueline I was just wondering the other day if you were keeping up with our thread, although I would totally understand if you didn't. I hope you are recovering well

Can I possibly ask for one too? I adore Eeyore...I'd love to visit Pooh Corner one day. Hmmm.....my 25th wedding anniversary is coming up....maybe I could convince my DH to take me!

I'd be glad to reimburse you and will have USD and Euros with me.
