*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

Have just had a thought and needed some advice. I had my hair cut quite short and have just been wondering what to do with it on formal nights to look vaguely girly (ish). I know in the salon you can make appointments for hair preening!!!! But is this something to do as soon as you board to secure an appointment???

Don't usually have to think of such girly things but needs must!!

Annemarie[/QUOTEHow about some sparkle spray for your hair, or fancy hair clips but if it’s that short I’d go for a bit of sparkle. ]

I don't know if you can pre-book hair appts or not before the cruise, never bothered myself. BUT as you want an appt on Formal Night I would definitely go straight away on boarding and see if they have any spare slots.

Good luck.

Hiya

I got my hair done last year for the second Formal night. I agree, if you dash straight to the spa and make your appointment before you go for lunch, the appointments go like hot-cakes especially for the formal night. You can't book them online beforehand

FYI I was $50 for a wash and blow dry, but it did look amazing :lovestruc there may be different prices for lengths of hair, etc as he did take a while to do mine. Alex was on the Magic for years and was a great hairdresser, but I bumped into him in early August on my Dream cruise, so if anyone was looking out for him especially, he's not there :guilty:

Wow everyone! I just spent a couple of hours going through the posts I've missed over the last 2 days. We were away again and I didn't have internet access. :disrocks:

I'm going to consider it a pleasant surprise if we go to CC. But I am taking this cruise for the ship, not the destinations so its a shame but no biggie.

We are doing the same thing. Have told DD that we won't be going to CC and if we do then it's a bonus.

I'm so happy that Irene hit this weekend instead of next weekend. So many of us will have had our best-laid plans completely scrambled. Flying into NY will be crazy for the next few days, as the airlines play "catch up". Next Saturday, my DM/DN will be flying into PHL, which has also been closed due to weather. Of course, by next week, the airlines will have their acts together and life will go on (NO MORE HURRICANES UNLESS THEY'RE IN A PRETTY GLASS! :thumbsup2).

I WISH I could enjoy wine/champagne, but it just never happened. I feel like I'm missing something when I'm at a "grown-up" event, but I simply cannot stand the taste. I can barely manage a mimosa :guilty:. Rum or vodka based drinks, yum! Anything else (bourbon, gin, etc...even beer)...no thanks. Unless I'm on vacation, it's basically iced tea or Diet Coke/Pepsi. Yep, boring ;).

I'm with you ladies. Love the mixed/iced drinks, too. My staple drink at home are also iced tea and diet coke!

That's what I would be afraid of. Would just stay on the ship then. Key West would be lovely though!!! :hippie:

Yes, it would be great to go to Key West, it's been almost 10 years since we've been there!

CHAMPAGNE GIRLS PLEASE READ!!!!

Ladies, I need to get some information from everyone who will be attending the meet. I need to send a list to DCL so they can charge the $20 fee's to our rooms once we are onboard.

Therefore if you are definitely coming to the Champagne Girls event please can you PM me with your full name & cabin number (or GTY).

Reminder = you WILL be charged by DCL even it you don't show up on the day.

If you have decided you don't want to come then please let me know so I can offer someone on the waitlist your place.

Thanks, I am really looking forward to seeing you all in your pink tops, Tiara & Feather Boa's. :yay:
Claire - do I have to PM you ;)
apprently i was the top poster in the last thread :surfweb:
i'd have lost money on that, i thought i'd been quite lurky recently.....
LOL's Karen :)

I've just been doing a little bit more packing.. Found the hairdryer I bought years ago from FL just hoping it still works as I've never took it for years.

have really lost the plot now, so decided to give DS some motorway driving experience ( on a bank holiday )..... off to the Dockside outlet and will try my best not to buy anymore for this cruise :rotfl2::rotfl2: :rotfl2:but maynot be able to help myself......

margaret

Good Luck Margaret - I'm sure it will be fine.... resist:goodvibes

Our power came back on at 6:30 this morning!

It went out just before midnight Saturday night and came back on about an hour later. Then went out for good about 2:30 Sunday morning. Just hauled the contents of our refrigerator/freezer out to the trash. :sad2:

Off to catch up on the 10 pages I've missed. Think I can get it done before I have to leave for jury duty?

Thanks Claire, I've sent you an email :thumbsup2

Finally got my tiara and boa organised this weekend and hopefully with plenty of time to arrive before we leave next week.

The first boa I ordered stupidly :headache: from Hong Kong will arrive by 20th September

Have fun Margaret :lmao: it's very difficult :headache: to resist.

I went to M&S on Saturday to buy one last small item I needed and came home with 3 more dresses :rotfl2: now have to completely re-think my packing list :confused3

Mind you, I do have all the dresses in, chargers, some toiletries and the bottle of Baileys and it's at 13 kg, so I have 10 kg to go.... fingers crossed :scared1:

You should find the full cross-section. Locals will be dressed to the nines, heels, etc. Tourists will be in everything from shorts to t-shirts. Typically resort casual is a fool proof approach. Enjoy.

The locals are going to work, not on vacation.

That question is for Smootenloops who posted about the 282 labels...

Oh, duh. See how easily confused I am? :rotfl:

I found some small paper bags at Michaels.

Okay, so Tammy, 282 labels? How? :confused3

Sorry! Didn't mean to confuse anyone. My FE comes in "stages" throughout the cruise so there are multiple labels for each cabin. x cabins times y deliveries = z labels.

Off to jury duty. Hope I don't get sequestered!

Good Morning All!
I've been up extra early as I fell asleep so early! Must have been that huge early dinner we had! Went to celebrate my birthday at one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, Taste of Texas http://www.tasteoftexas.com/restaurant.php
If anyone visits and wants a great steak, I highly recommend!:thumbsup2
I've only been eating red meat maybe once or twice a month since being on Weight Watchers. I went all out yesterday with a center cut filet oscar (topped with a crab cake and bernaise sauce), a baked sweet potato with all the brown sugar, butter and pecans, and a huge slice of pecan pie for dessert! Brought most of the pie home, and finished some more of it last night! Then proceeeded to try on my dresses I'm packing and what jewelry I'm bringing since I was already dressed up! So far, the jewelry is weighing more than the dresses! :rotfl: I've narrowed my dresses down to 4, but I probably have 26 sets of jewelry ensembles, Margaret! :lmao:
I have not tracked my points with Weight Watchers in almost a month. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe for the June Med cruise (dropped several sizes since January) and am too cheap to buy a whole set of new things for this cruise, so its been fun maintaining my weight! :rotfl2: Still going to aqua aerobics 5 days a week and plan to do some form of exercise on the ship.:thumbsup2
I did have several items taken in like a western vest and top that I will pack if I bring my boots and jeans.
Once I get back from this cruise, I'll kick the WW program back in gear to take off the last 40 lb in time for our June 2012 Fantasy cruise! :)

My daughter in law has short hair and wears these kinds of things in her hair at the few formal things she goes to as she isn't too happy in sparkly things either. I think they have other names than spirals but I couldn't think of them. I bet Claires have them

I bought some of those for DD's birthday party this year. They were so cute even in long hair!

Margaret, have fun and good luck with not buying anything!

Well you can buy anything except more dresses!!!;) You might need some retail therapy after taking your new driver son on the motorway!!!!!:scared1:

My hair is about as short as you can get, so fancy do's are not an option. I bought a couple of fascinators (I think that's what they're called) to wear with my dresses. Basically a narrow headband with flowers/feathers/sparkly stuff.

Thanks for all the good wishes for Harley. I'm going to call the folks in a little while to see what their vet said. :dog:

Off to work for me. Three days at the groomers this week. The rest of the time I'll be scrambling to get everything together. We leave one week from tomorrow!! Yikes!!!

Thanks karen :thumbsup2

OMG I need help, I'm weighting my clothes individually on the kitchen scales to find the lightest ones......:rotfl2::rotfl2: think I may be begining to lose the plot a little !

margaret

Actually that is a really good idea !!

Mind you, Jodi Benson was so worth it :cloud9:

I do hope we have a similar calibre entertainer this time around.

I would go for some sort of sparkly hair accessory for your hair ... you can get simple sparkly hairbands or clips which would look nice.

Oh no .... Margaret ... remember to control yourself, you do not need any more dresses !!!!!

woman after my own heart - pack the baileys, and sod the rest!!

(oh and to get round the luggage allowance, i'm buying mine at the airport)

What's on the TOP TEN list of things you DON'T want to hear right before a vacation??

DH asked me this morning, "Honey, what did your APPENDICITIS feel like?"

Please send some fairy dust this way as we wait to see what progresses. . .

Also sending well wishes to little Harley and, oh Margaret--you have cracked me up this morning picturing you with dresses bunched up on a little kitchen scale!
