*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

He did Magic .... and far outclassed the official DCL magicians :thumbsup2

Totally agree with you, Sarah. Warren's magic tricks were far better than any of those done by the magicians employed by Disney. :thumbsup2. I still can't work out how he did them! Thanks Warren for making our cruise even more magical :)

We never got our traveling magnet back and we never got to see anyone else's magnets either. I'm sure time just got away from everyone.

Back home after two nights post-cruise in Orlando...EXHAUSTED but very happy. Despite mother's luggage being "lost" until Madeira, and having way more energy in our minds than in reality, we all had a fabulous time. It was wonderful to meet new friends and see familiar faces as the cruise progressed. We lucked out with tablemates, servers, and cabin hosts, as well as the incredible weather conditions :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2.

Thanks to all who participated in the FE gift exchange and Candy Swap, making our cruise even more Magical! The gifts were great, esp. the homemade ones. All were truly appreciated.

My thoughts as well. I so appreciate each and every FE gift. This was one of the best cruises ever! I was so happy to meet so many of you. Our room host and servers were the best ever! Thanks to everyone for making our cruise so magical

We never had one hit our door on deck 8, either, but I signed two or three as we handed out FE gifts and found them on other Dis-doors. Sorry they don't seem to have worked out as planned.

Thanks for being great tour mates on St. M....Lorelai is totally adorable :cutie: (even when she's not feeling her best). I bet she'll be talking about the trip for ages, in her own little way. Soooo cute!

Came home to nothing but rain the past two days. Yuck.

And big thanks to Warren ( Steamboat Will ) for the wonderful entertainment every evening....

Oh, you were talking about magic tricks. I thought you were referring to the way he got a shipwide reputation for loud, boisterous behavior at every single trivia event!

The reaction from Matthew when Warren said he was also on the next cruise was priceless. Of course later we found that wasn't true when we bumped into him on Saturday at Downtown Disney...

Hi everyone!!

We're in Canada this week, until Saturday, when we head back to Scotland. We had an absolutely amazing time with you all, and were so happy to meet so many great people. We are really missing you this week :lovestruc

I hope everyone makes it home safely, and that all your belongings get home too. I just read on the main board that someone had a laptop taken out of their cabin, and I know I met someone on our sailing who had an Ipad stolen out of the theatre. It's a shame, but I hope these were really limited incidents.

How many folks out there have PCD? Post Cruise Depression? I know I do!!

I admit, I'm extremely curious about one of our fellow passengers... a very large brown stuffed bear that joined us at dinner. I was wondering about the backstory with this fuzzy fellow - does anyone know him?

Warren was definitely the Trivia Champion ... he came to dinner with a different prize or trophy every evening ... we did join him for a couple of quizzes but there really wasn't a lot of point in us being there ... he certainly didn't need any help. What a star!

Hi everyone!!

I can feel the symptoms gradually sneaking up on me :sick:

That bear thing was a bit bizarre ..... I wondered what that was all about :confused3

Hi everyone, we are home now. :( Thank you all for a wonderful cruise, it was so nice to meet many of you but also sad that I never met everyone.....I guess we'd better hope for a reunion cruise in 2013. ;)

We had a lovely few days at BLT after the cruise but unfortunately I picked up a nasty cold so we didn't do as much as we'd planned.

I guess i'd better carry on with the unpacking & :laundy:

Dawn! I am so glad you brought that up! My husband and I have wondered the same thing too! We saw the lady carry that HUGE bear around.....even saw it sunning in a lounge chair at Castaway Cay! What's up with that? I even heard she ordered food for the bear. Does anyone know?

Just to echo what others said.... The DIS friends, FE, SM, fairy godmothers, and DIS tablemates really made this cruise special. Seeing my girls so happy was priceless. So glad to have met everyone!

Also glad to see about 40 of us at the PJ breakfast! I was glad DCL obliged - when I first let them know at Lumiere's, they said I had to go to Guest Services. Then at Guest Services they were not sure that could happen... even though it was during breakfast hours anyway! I basically left it as "this is just forewarning we will have 80 showing up at about 9:00 for breakfast on x date..." so I am glad they were able to set one section aside so we could be seated near each other.

Again, super sorry again about the third boat breaking down prior to pickup at Tortola for the JVD excursion. They had the 32 and 16 pax boats for our group rate but not the second sailing catamaran of 32. They found a 15 pax to Virgin Gorda last minute, but apparently the taxi drivers were telling everyone at the gazebo it was cancelled and they would miss the ship anyway... so some of our DIS members never made it to the security gate of the port to see the company's representative Jocelyn for options. :( With no wind that day, the sailing catamaran was powering the whole way (slowly)... would have been really bad to break down with us on it. We passed the broken down cat being attempted to tow in the channel. DCL had actually cancelled their's the night before due to weather (probably the forecast of no wind). Hearing one person's reports of their alternative taxi beach day to Cane Garden Bay now makes me want to check that out next time in Tortola - sounded lovely!

I thought the huge brear was kind of weird also. I'm a big kid and all, but that was a bit much. It, was great to meet you Mandy and your family as well.

I think it was Amanda (Fontabel) and Jared who got the story of the bear - leave it to the diplomats. :thumbsup2

Apparently, the bear writes the annual Christmas letter and has to be with them for all their experiences in order to write the letter. Um, yeah, that makes sense. :rolleyes1

I don't know if they ordered food, but I saw them at lunch at CC and the bear had a cup with a straw in front of him.

I also heard that one of the restaurant CM's (not sure if it was their server) got chewed out one night b/c he wasn't at the door to carry the bear to their table.

To each their own, I guess, as long as they don't ask me to feed, baby-sit, or otherwise interact with the bear.

I could have written this whole thing exactly, right down to the BLT. Sorry I never met YOU, Claire!

That thing was so big, it made my teddy bear Dimples feel petite. She only went to dinner three times, and our server was the only one who fed her. She LOVED little Fillippa, though, and after she met her, clamoured to go to dinner every night.

SO many nice people - including some who weren't Disers but SHOULD be! (Carol and Tom from Texas - if you DO come by and read this, I'm talking to YOU!)

HUGE highlight of the trip were the stellar members and staff of Table 23.

We had many traveling magnets the first week of the trip and none the second. Honestly, I couldn't tell you whose we actually saw - sometimes the names/ room numbers were pretty small. I'm so sorry for those of you who did not receive yours back - I know how that feels - I lost a personalized map that way once - DCL delivered it to the wrong stateroom.

Did the lady who lost her kindle outside the cove cafe ever get it back?

Home again, here!

We spent Saturday night at OKW and drove home yesterday. We picked up the doggies last night - we were all very happy to see each other.

The trip was amazing!! Thanks to everyone who made it so wonderful, especially to the BEST TABLEMATES EVER!!! And to our fab cabana-mates!!! (Um, recipe for Pims, please

Glad you had a safe trip home Pat, it was great to meet you and Dennis, best Cabana Mates ever !!!! We need to do that again some time  Pimms, just throw all the fruit into a jug with sprite - sorted !!

Well first day back at work done and dusted and our wonderful 14 days seem a bit of a distant memory :(
We had such a fantastic first cruise and was made even more special having known so many of you beforehand. Hopefully in 2013 we will get to do the trip again but for now will have our many photos to look through and people to chat to here

Btw if anyone happened to bring home our Travelling Trevor door magnet we would love to have him back so we can show the children.
We brought back someones travelling magnet as it had no name or room number on and when our Internet is fixed tomorrow I will post photo to find out who it belongs to. It's a Mickey Mouse one.

I think we all have our fingers crossed for 2013 !! It was great to meet you both and I'm glad you 2 had a great time :cool1:

Of all the magnets I spotted, I never saw Trevor

It was wonderful to meet so many of you; this was our first time being part of the DIS group and it really added to the fun. Thanks to the organizers of the various excursions and events and our lovely table mates for making the cruise so magical!

Lorraine & Paul

:thumbsup2 ditto couldn't have said it better myself Lorraine :)

Well we're home and back to reality ..... laundry and jet lag and photo uploading

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for making this cruise so special .... big thanks and hugs to our wonderful tablemates and other lovely people we met along the way. Thanks to everyone who gave us such amazing FE gifts ... much appreciated. Sorry we missed some of you but the two weeks seemed to simply fly by and I feel sad that we didn't get time to speak with everyone as much as we would have liked.

And big thanks to Warren ( Steamboat Will ) for the wonderful entertainment every evening.... way better than anything Disney had to offer :wizard:

Hope everyone gets home safely and for those still on vacation have a wonderful time :thumbsup2 I can already feel the withdrawal symptoms setting in

I've definitely got withdrawal symptons and missing all of you :sad2:

Warren was exceptional, I have never met someone so naturally gifted and entertaining like that, he is such a sweetheart and a little treasure :wizard:

Hi Dawn

Glad you made it safe and sound to Canada.

Yes, we are all suffering from PCD lol. We boarded at the same time as the bear, I wondered the whole cruise what it was all about. I thought it may be someone that wasn't able to cruise and the bear was a substitute

Hope your cold gets better soon. My 5 loads of laundry are now dry and needing ironed :headache::headache:

Hi Mandy

So glad to have met you and your family. Thank you again for organising the PJ breakfast and JVD trip. I am sorry that some people missed the great trip to JVD, those taxi drivers were awful, I can't believe they were telling us not to go on the trip either when we were standing with the captain of the catameran!!! Anything for a sale :mad:

I don't think we'll forget those painkillers for a while.... they were scrummy :lovestruc:lovestruc my Stevie and Sarah's Tony definitely overindulged on those :rotfl2:

I can't believe that I never managed to catch up with everyone, the time just seemed to fly past and we ran out of time!

Of all the magnets I spotted, I never saw Trevor !

Never mind, we had a back up picture of him that was signed by all of the characters, the children seemed happy enough to see that and photos of Mickey!!

Oh, you were talking about magic tricks. I thought you were referring to the way he got a shipwide reputation for loud, boisterous behavior at every single trivia event!

I dont think this is a very fair comment, as anybody that we bumped into on the ship only ever had good things to say about Warren. How nice, funny and entertaining he was. IMHO :confused3

Warren was exceptional, I have never met someone so naturally gifted and entertaining like that, he is such a sweetheart and a little treasure :wizard:

I would just like to echo this statement. Warren you are a GEM :worship:. I was so entertained whenever you were around and you are so talented at what you do. It was a pleasure to meet you and spend time with you :cool1:

This is what i posted on facebook with regards to the Bear. We were on the table next to it each night for dinner!!! :sad2:

"Ok the bear was called Kirby and was seated for dinner at the table behind us EVeRY evening!! Apparently he has to go away with them as he writes the Christmas newsletter every year! There was definately a story behind it but noone was brave enough to ask. It was quite funny to start with but the novelty quickly wore off when our servers were requested to do everything for the bear which often meant cuttin off a conversation with us to attend to him. He had his own wardrobe of clothing ranging from Hawaiian shirts to pirate shirt. I have a photo of Hazel posing with it which I'll upload later. The husband carried around a stick which was used to prop the bears head up at the table. Most nights he had something from the menu and even had an iced tea and dessert!!"

Thankyou to everyone that was in our FE, Candy Swap and Scrapbook (Hazel loved all her scrapbooking items!!) groups. We loved taking part and especially enjoyed walking around looking at everyones wonderful doors and Fish Extenders :thumbsup2

Did the lady who lost her kindle outside the cove cafe ever get it back?

I don't know about her, but when boarding our flight Sunday morning at MCO, a family behind us had lost their ipad onboard. The mom had heard about me and my issues with trying to get Sarah's overnight Character Campout bag back that had been most likely mistakenly taken by another parent when picking up our little ones from Kids Club the following morning. It had two pairs of Sarah's shoes (and nice clothes from dinner the previous night), and thankfully we had her plastic princess shoes she could wear since she was not allowed in restaurants without shoes! But Guest Services was of ZERO help, as was the Oceaneer's Club until we finally had it escalated that afternoon. Four trips to Guest Services per issue was usually our norm to finally get issues resolved, and we had about four issues to deal with throughout the cruise: changing Mixology ticket due to Princess Tea time assigned, Overnight Character Campout bag taken (eventually got it back), wine glasses for stateroom, and no Shutters CD delivered to cabin on disembarkation day. I kinda got used to standing in that line :rolleyes1

Here is what I shared in our survey regarding the Character Campout incident:

Character Campout provided orange bags labeled with child's name and stateroom number to place shoes and pajamas. We picked up our daughter the following morning, and could not locate her orange bag. The Castmembers knew they had seen it that morning, especially since she was wearing her pajamas that had come from it. However, we were missing her night time dinner clothes, night time dress shoes, and comfortable shoes. It was apparent another parent had mistakenly picked up HER bag on accident. At 8:00 AM, I asked if they could send a text message on the wave phone like they had when telling us to come collect the children (at 7:44 AM) to ask parents to please check they picked up the correct bag. Something unobtrusive to help locate the bag. The Castmembers assured me YES, they would, and would also notify Guest Services in case it appeared there. We left to have breakfast, but were not admitted without shoes. I then obtained breakfast at Topsiders while my daughter waited outside, and we returned to our cabin to eat it. We checked with Guest Services at about 10 AM, and they had NO RECORD of this at all, therefore telling us that Oceaneer's Club had not followed-through on contact Guest Services as stated. We checked again at noon to no avail, but had also figured out no text message was sent out when we started asking other parents. I started texting the room numbers of those on DISboards that I knew of in hope we could have SHOES for our child! At 1:00, we returned to Oceanner's Club once again, and one orange bag was STILL sitting there, yet all the children had been collected. We asked if they could please check that bag, see the name on it, and contact that parent since quite possibly that could be the parent who grabbed the incorrect bag. NO! Seriously?!?!? I am a teacher and certified principal and understand child safety and security, but this was ridiculous. I asked about something being sent out. They looked in the computer and HAD NO RECORD of our daughter's bag missing or the conversation that had occurred at pick-up! We asked again to send a text message and were told NO. The Castmember we were speaking with then finally called a manager, Michelle. We explained the situation (again) since nobody had a clue of the events that morning due to crew change, and we still could not eat breakfast or lunch with no shoes (two pairs were in the bag and we only had plastic costume shoes left). She would not check the lone orange bag, but after we left, later found a voicemail that "a friend had lost their shoes" sent to stateroom phones. Not surprisingly, thirty minutes later, we received a call that they now had our bag and would deliver to our stateroom. All of this could have been avoided had a text message been sent at pick-up when first discovered hours earlier during the day. Why it had to escalate to a manager and us getting frustrated was uncalled for just to get shoes so our daughter could enter restaurants again. A simple text that morning would have most likely resolved it then.

---- I know they don't randomly sent texts out, but we had received a text at 7:44 to come collect the children. It was sent only to the cabins participating. They could have very easily done a reply-all (or re-sent the text) at 8:00 when we had this issue, but chose not to. They also chose not to document the incident in the computer or notify Guest Services. At 1:00 they still refused to send the text. Had this been a bag we had just lost on our own, I understand, but this was a bag obviously taken from the secure area of Kids Club where we have to have a password to sign our kids out. CastMembers should have been checking each child had their bag with their name on it when signing them out that morning to avoid an issue like this in the future IMHO.
