*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

I think I quoted everyone below so I had a few comments I wanted to share. First I am fine with the date and the cost. Based on my last years experience with the Champagne Girls, I think Claire has come up with an excellent plan.

The only time you can get about 60 persons in a gathering in a private room is to have the Walt suite. We had about that many in a DIS gathering we had on a 2007 NYE cruise on the Magic. If you have a concierge suite, they will be much more helpful in providing glasses, ice etc. I was able to work with the land concierge to arrange all the food, drinks etc. I don't think you can do this in a regular stateroom but if I am incorrect I am sure someone will quickly correct me.

Last year there were some hard feelings about missing bottles etc. This way no one will be responsible for bringing champagne or worry that their more expensive champagne disappears without even being opened.

As another posted mentioned, I would think that DCL would provide a closed off venue with tickets as they do with the tastings. Those who participate would get a charge on their stateroom as well the ticket being delivered to their stateroom.

Based on my experience, I think the option Claire has so diligently worked on is our best option for an official Champagne girls meet.

Just my thoughts...

Thanks Noel.

I was actually really pleased to get the green light from DCL let alone a good date! (ie not the last sea day  as i've heard mentioned so many times before)

I think the first of the 5 sea days (with exception of it clashing with the pub crawl) is great as we will all meet early on in the cruise & therefore will know people when we see them around the ship for the remainder of the time onboard.

Hey folks. Late to register

We are Americans (texans) living in Napoli, Italia and are going home on the Magic for the first time in three years. long time from home, but will be fun to go back this way.

Want to say thanks for all of the great info and the help getting the Palo brunch - grazie mille!

:cheer2::cheer2::welcome::welcome::cheer2::cheer2: Hi and welcome to the party, we are margaret and norman from kent in the UK..... see you real soon:thumbsup2

Hi all

Let's make champagne girls a bit more special and let DCL serve it to us instead :thumbsup2. Sessions is a lovely place to have it :lovestruc It's a shame it may clash for a few people with pub crawl, but we are going to get onboard and some of the great DCL activities are going to clash with our DIS schedule anyway, so it's inevitable.

I vote for a lovely venue and organised by DCL and, after all the hard work that Claire has put in, it would be a shame not to do it :confused3

Thanks for your continued effort Claire it's appreciated :)

I agree wholeheartedly! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I, for one, plan to participate in both the Pub Crawl and CG meet, if they end up on the same day. I'm really not going to get that "tanked" at the Crawl - I mean, it's five bars in four hours. That's 1.25 drinks per hour. Taking an hour out to go to CG isn't any different from spending the same amount of time in one of the other bars, right? A lot of people were already saying they weren't going to drink in every bar on the Crawl anyway.

So I guess if we can change the Pub Crawl date (again) without causing major upheaval to everyone's plans, that's great. If we can't, it's just not that big a deal.

BTW, we've got our Exotic Rasul scheduled for that morning, so I'm looking at a day of total hedonism and decadence! In other words, a perfect vay-cay day! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 What a fab way to start the day! We've booked that too, i'm looking forward to a mud fight. :lmao:

I like this line of thinking. It is our ladies' event; all pink and bubbly.

There will be times during the 2 weeks when we walk by the venues and think, hmm, we could have been in there today, no one's using it. And yet DCL will tell you there's nothing available. It will go down in the book of mysteries along with Pixie Dust upgrades and restricted GTY room assignments.

Should we consider having 2 champagne girls' meets? One DCL and the other BYOB? Maybe we could have a champagne girls/beer budget guys co-ed BYOB champagne mixer in Week 2? We can scan the Navigator each night and look for an opening the next day. (I say this since 22 DISers are on the pubcrawl list - don't know if that's the ladies or their guys).

Claire
Thank you for all your effoets, organising any event never ends up being as striaghtforward as we hope.
First let me say I'm willing to go with the flow on this one, that day will just be a bit busy, since we will have brunch and I could attend pub crawl for a bit, then end up at champagne girls:cool1::cool1: just may need a little rest afterwards :rotfl2::rotfl2:

This is just my opinion, I feel it may be easier to go with the DCL option considering the numbers involved, the effort taken to get to this point, and the fact you will find it hard to find a date that suits everyone. And if it’s a reception style meet DCL will organise and provide everything. I doubt this will be the only meet up !!

With so many things going on we could just end up going round in circles trying to find a solution to suit every one, I am sorry if I have upset anyone. But it would be a shame if we debated this at length and decided on DCL and then they refused our request, especially when they seem to have taken onboard claires request for a reception style meet

But as I said I will be willing to just go with what people want

Josh, Yeah I want to get one of those pretzels too. Love the Disney Food Blog! :lovestruc

Oh I would love that Liz, thank you. :flower3

I'm happy to do it :goodvibes

Hey folks. Late to register, but I have been reading things off and on for months getting ready for the cruise. We are the Worthy's from the FB group in Palo group #4.

Welcome!!! This is a very friendly group, so late or not you will make friends on this thread! :) How long will you be staying in the states after the cruise?

To my knowledge most of the champagne girls meets have either been arranged through DCL or they have been held in a private room.......which I don't think we will be possible in this case as we have around 60 people! (inc waitlist)

If we do BYO then the issue is trying to find a bar with a big empty group of tables that doesn't have any other organised events already taking place. I know for sure DCL have their own wine tasting event on the afternoon of the 15th so who knows what else will be taking place in other areas.

Yes if it comes to it, I will call everyone on the ship to let them know but I am sure we will have a date arranged before we go. :thumbsup2

I wanted to share my thOughts on this. I say let's treat ourselves and let dcl wait on us for a while!
And also Claire has worked very hard to get dcl to offer us the champagne reception so I think it's only fair we go with what they are offering otherwise all her patient waiting will be in vain :worship:

And also as someone mentioned if we go with the dcl reception then it will be a locked off event so to speak!

Finally thankyou Claire for getting this together

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all your lovely comments. :goodvibes

It will be so nice to have a girly get together! I can't wait! :cutie: princess:

I'd be in for that if you did a byob co-ed get together, although i'd be a champagne guy, not a beer guy. Do they allow anything on the decks? Like an impromptu gathering under the stars?

Maybe we could do a meet like the Geezers last year did every evening after dinner??

Last year 4 of us took a bottle of champagne up onto Deck 10 and drank it under the stars .... we just asked for a bucket of ice from room service and got glasses from the bar .. :thumbsup2

Oh gosh that sounds fun! Magical ending to the evening, as long as I'm not missing any Disney theater :-p I have no idea how the schedule looks with main dining

Working on FEs -- I have conflicting FE lists of room numbers - can Disneynutt (Cindy) and Colkath (Colette) please PM me their correct room numbers?

Thanks

How about meeting under the stars or even during the day on the "secret" aft deck on deck 7. It has enough room for all of us...we could be a flash champagne mob.LOL:::banana::banana::banana:

Welcome, we are also from the United States and been living in Skopje, Macedonia for the past two year and will be using this cruise to go home. It seems like a good way to readjust to EST.

Look forward to meeting you.

Check the Google page, too. Colkath2005 had a room change that I updated last week.

Yes, like an impromptu gathering. Even a planned one. :goodvibes

(That was beer-budget guys. An old saying that "I have champagne tastes and a beer budget.")

Early dinner is served while Late diners watch the show. Around 7:30, there is a short activity for families/everybody - game shows, more entertainment, whatever - usually in Studio Sea or Rockin' Bar D, perhaps Diversions (where we played Wheel of Fortune in groups). This is a 30-45 minute session.

Then the early diners watch the show during Late dining.

Around 10:15/10:30, the Adult Cabaret in Rockin' Bar D begins. Lasts 30-45 mintes. Ages 18 and up. There are dance events following, but the bulk of the crowd gets up and leaves after the entertainer is done.

Does her new room number start with a 5 or a 6?

5501 - she posted it along with birthday info.
