I am seeing all the posts of 28 days or 29 days until the vacation but DH likes to look at it a different way. Only 16 more days of work before we take off. :woohoo: Makes it seem that much closer.

I do both! :rotfl: I have a countdown of actual days on my computer at home and a countdown of working days on my calendar at work!

I'm going to let her wear her birthday shirt on embarkation day though so she DOES feel like it is. :thumbsup2 The excitement in her voice when she says "Mommy, do you think ARIEL will be on the Dizinee cruise with us?" just sends goosebumps.... Dang it tears - go away! I can't even type!

Awww, Mandy....that is just the sweetest thing! :flower3: princess:

:dance3:Excited that I've been able to check off a couple of things from my list - the ordering for stateroom gifts has been placed! :thumbsup2 and I've finished making the door magnets.:woohoo::woohoo: My DH saw the magnets spread across the desk and said, "you know we only have 1 door for those magnets" to which I replied, "yes, but that door has 2 sides!!!" :lmao:  Poor guy! :)

In 4 weeks we'll be sailin'!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thank you so much for reminding me ..... last time we forgot a bottle opener and corkscrew and had to go the bar to open our bottle of champagne. Must put it in the bag ready.

Battery candles sound like a good idea too .... must pick some of those up.

No worries. :thumbsup2

I bought a pack of 4 battery tea lights in the pound shop. :)

What day is her birthday? Mine is the Sep. 5 Thinking I could wear a birthday T-shirt too :confused3 :rotfl2:

Go for it.

Just done our Jet2 online check in for our flight to Barcelona. Another thing to tick off the list!:dance3: Mind you for some reason doing online check in always stresses me which is so silly I know.

:cool1: I'd love to check in now but ours is 24 hours beforehand.

Sad to say... I can totally envision that! :rotfl: Curt is flying standby and has to dress nicer, so I am the one hauling the baggage. The girls and I have tickets, hence baggage allowance, so I am HOPING to get by with three checked bags. I am already figuring out that diapers may have to just be purchased in Barcelona...

So you'll be wearing all Curt's clothes too? ;)

Fingers crossed Curt can get on the same flight as you. :wizard: :wizard:

I will be there with you with tears in my eyes:bitelip:, no children involved, its just I will be so excited I just can't help myself.:rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Me too, I am dreading the last day as I know i'll be blubbing......i'll be hiding under my big sunglasses. :cool2:

What day are you flying out and where from. We are flying Jet2 from Leeds Bradford on Thurs 8th and we live in South Yorkshire ...THIS TIME IN 4 WEEKS WE WILL BE ON THE SHIP DOING THE LIFEBOAT DRILL - THEN THE FUN CAN START pirate:

YES, you should wear a birthday shirt on embarkation! You ARE celebrating a birthday after all! :thumbsup2
We were ALMOST Sept 5!! Just squeaked in Sept 4 because I think my OB was ready to go home to sleep that night. It was a holiday after all... LABOR Day! :lmao: (And after 15 hours of labor, she made me resort to Plan B... operating room...) But Sept 5 is when we fly to New York City for that part of the trip. And luckily the girls and I are now reseated closer to each other. We had a plane swap a few months ago, and they placed Em about 10 rows behind me and Sarah about 5 seats away. Now we are at least one-behind the other for that leg. Curt... well.... hopefully he'll be same flight, but if not there's a flight every hour.

WooHoo!!! :thumbsup2
Well you could take advantage of free babysitting... Hope the girls sit next to grandma's.. we know how to spoil em... :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Not to worry tho.. of course they will seat you together once you get there. I'm with Curt... on standby... we are thinking of leaving on the 6th... or 7th.

I had so many magnets on the EBTA you couldn't see my door! and... I had to change them out a couple times to use them all.. so the extras were on the inside of the door....LOL

That's what I am afraid of! Both the sobbing and not wanting to get off the ship! I woke up the other morning to find that Sarah had started putting her packing stuff on the dining room table. We had four princess dresses, four pairs of shoes to match, jewelry, tiaras, wands, gloves, and the play makeup her grandmother bought her. I sent Curt a message at work, and told him to be prepared to pack in only a carryon! :rotfl2: And that did not include the actual CLOTHES I have started taking out for her. We are planning on doing laundry, and I have big post-it charts up laying out what we are wearing each day and packing, but still... I am sure Sarah will have over 50% of luggage space while the other three of us cram it all in. After all, she turns five the week we board the cruise, and thinks the cruise is for HER birthday! I'm going to let her wear her birthday shirt on embarkation day though so she DOES feel like it is. :thumbsup2 The excitement in her voice when she says "Mommy, do you think ARIEL will be on the Dizinee cruise with us?" just sends goosebumps.... That is adorable!:lovestruc Our first cruise with DD (age 3) was on Premier, back when they were the "official" Disney line, and she avoided the characters like they were radioactive. She just never liked large costumed creatures, even though we explained there were just people inside :goodvibes. Never even liked to sit on Santa's lap....:confused3

Mandy.. I'm tearing up too...lol brings back memories of when we took the grandkids on a Disney cruise a few years ago. One of them was 5 also... The last night of the cruise she came to dinner ( we insisted she leave her lab and have dinner with us) As we were waiting for our food she began to tear up.. we asked her what was wrong and she started crying and said... "We leave tomorrow and I don't want to go home. I want to stay on the ship" We were all in tears.... They have so much fun but when it is time to leave and go back to the real world.... well I'm with them.. I don't want to go either!

Our DD always choked up at the end of a family vacation; the last day she was always "mopey". It broke my heart at times.

On last year's EBTA, just myself and DH, one of my favorite times was observing the character meets and seeing the looks on the little ones faces. Kids are just so darned cute!

That's an excellent point. One of my little pleasures has been making magnets for my DM's door....I'm sure at some point I mentioned that it's a "Disney thing" but I doubt she remembers, so I'm going to surprise her (and my niece) with a decorated door. But after reading threads about stolen magnets, I'd prefer to put our cabin # on them....BUT DCL IS NOT PLAYING NICELY WITH US OTHER KIDS AND WON'T GIVE US ONE!!!:rotfl:It's alright, I still love them anyway :).

We're picking up trip meds today (scop patches, meclizine, Cipro)...have to be prepared! DH is susceptible to motion sickness, but the patches work wonders for him. We also have ginger tabs for the rest of us, who are not so sensitive (I tease him about being my delicate little flower :flower3:...thank goodness he has a great sense of humor!).

Also, DH discovered that his dress slacks are an inch too small this year (clearly, he never wears them; they were purchased for last year's trip!). He decided it's easier to buy new ones than lose an inch (so very true:lmao:!), so we're off to shop...:yay:. I'm still looking for a great pair of walking shoes ;).

First up; Karen and Gary my heartfelt condolences. It must be a difficult time and once the dust settles from having to run around and making all kinds of arrangements I can imagine it will only really sink in. Hopefully the cruise can be a welcome chance of scenario, even if it's just that one moment or second that it's not so much in your faces. Take care!!

Noel, congrats for Sam! Nuts timing but luckily it's now and not until later last week before she found this out. How much organising is there still left to do over the weekend?

Mandy; sigh, who wouldn't melt a bit when hearing such a young one talk like that? Just the Dizinee alone is enough to pull the switch!

I'm sorry to hear of your experiences! I don't know any background, but it sounds like you've been given the royal run-around. Come dec we'd love to meet you for a mini-reunoin even though we've not had the original one yet. We live in Orlando andWDW is our second home. Take care,be well and keep the pixie dust sprinkling Jean

Would love to meet you in december, let's keep in touch. For now it's dec 1st-17th.

Been kinda nuts trying to reschedule it with DVC availability being low (esp. for longer stays) and changing per minute and then finding out I couldn't fly back on certain dates etc. At least I've got a flight booked now and got a place to sleep. Time will tell where some of it is. I know it'll be CBR until the 6th. The 6th-17th will be SSR but time will tell how. I'm waitlisted for the night of the 8th as there is no avail. as of now through DVC. So as a back up I booked that night on cash. Thankfully I got pixiedusted with a PIN that works for both the CBRressie and SSR-night. That brings it down a nice bit but the total bill for just 17 nights is still more than the total for this cruise+2 weeks OKW that were scheduled. Shame, but at least I get to go! :)

Reading this thread is so weird. It's fun, it's excitement and at the same time it's a constant "yippie, plan such and such came through, how much fun it'll be to do that..... oh dang, right, I'm not going". I guess it says it all that I'm still in unconcious countdown mode for the cruise instead of december. When Cindy posted her roomchange first thing in my mind was "hey, that's my room, how come?" Duhuh, I cancelled it, it's only a good thing she got it if that suits her better. Enjoy it, Cindy!

As far as all the FE-gift talk goes; I've got a question. What is a girl to do with over 100+ unisex watches in all kinds of colours? :rotfl2::confused3 And I don't even wear a watch myself. :lmao:

For those trying to make their mind up which way to go with gifts (per person, cabin etc.); I was originally planning per person. Had disney gifts for the kids that are age appropriate (some one bigger gift like for instace a zippycup for the babies, some multiple smaller gifst like the toy story action figures we could collect at our AH grocery store). Ran into too cute Mickey earrings and after some haggling got the price down enough so I could gift each female a set and the teenage girls. Husbands were more difficult. I started making keychains myself with beads that spelled MAGIC and charms in disney-style (Mickey, Tink, cinderella's carriage) and nautical-style but wasn't sure I'ld get them done in time so looked around for the men. Ended up scoring the biggest bargain ever on formentioned watches, enough so I could gift them to all adults. But 2 gifts versus one? Nah. So I finished the keychains to equal things out. Biggest thing for me was budget, fun and scoring a nice gift. I ended up being able to do a bit more within my budget then expected when looking at number of gifts per person. And trueth be told; never in a million years did I expect to find these gifts for adults within my budget. It's not like I had a huge budget per person in mind :rotfl2: it really was and is a low one. Just have fun with it and make sure you don't do anything that you aren't comfortable with. Budget, style, luggage, whatever the thing is, FE gifts are all about having fun and being comfortable while doing it. :woohoo:

We are flying from Leeds Bradford on the 8th too, so we should see you there!! We are just about a 25 minute drive from the airport which is a change for us as normally it is off to Manchester or even London for our US flights. You too I guess!!

Josh - Crush is SO cute! I can;t wait to put your FE gift in it. :cool1:

Jacqueline you need to book another cruise to use up your FE gifts. ;)

Glad to see you on here even though it must be tough for you to get excited by our plans. :guilty: Take care hun. xxx

Noel - That is so strange that they didn't try and contact her more when she didn't get back to them. Usually you have to tell them whether you accept the offer to attend - it is a good thing they didn't give her spot away. On the other hand, how weird to find out you are going to law school 3 days before orientation! Good luck on Monday - are you going with her? Do they have a parent's orientation also?
