Does anyone have any good tips for finding inexpensive one way airfare? We flew R/T from Barcelona for $1100 this time (we flew for alot less last year when we did the Med cruise in May 2010.

The airlines don't like this and it's technically against the rules, but look at a roundtrip fare. Book the US to BCN leg on the date you want it and have the return date to the US be at some point in the future. Just look for a date that results in the lowest fare - the return date is irrelevant since you won't be using that leg anyway. :)

A quick search between IAH and BCN shows a one-way could be $1700-3000! :scared1: A roundtrip is coming up at around $900. That's a no-brainer. :) I'm sure Baltimore is the exact same way.

Yes it was a joke. :)

There was some talk about Pat crocheting her FE gifts and she said not to worry they weren't the naff 70's toilet roll covers. ;) I posted that photo as a joke saying i'd be disappointed if I didn't get one from her.

Be careful what you wish for Claire :rolleyes1

It's not my favorite hospital by far, but the only one in the country that can help me along with this subject. If not, I would've run a long time ago. ;) They didn't run out of all aneasthetics but simply couldn't continue safely. I'm high risk, so they wanted to use low grade to stay safe as possible. Lovely, but not with my resistance. So now they've finally understood that I need a lot more which requires a lot more people, machines etc. Combine all of the current factors and I could end up in ICU for a short while. And with their pigheaded additude about me surely not needing more than low grade, those things couldn't be arranged anymore this week.

I think I'm going to sent al the Villians to pay them a visit, let's see if some good old scaring can guarantee me being well enough in time to cruise. I still somehow have a feeling that I "know" I will make it and those feelings have almost always paid off for me, but let's touch a forest full of woods.

Sorry for all the problems.. I will keep you in my prayers and hope all is good....

Well, we just returned from seeing Winnie the Pooh and it was very cute, not made for our age group obviously, but cute nonetheless and I love Winnie! pooh:

While we were watching the previews, we saw something really cool - The Lion King is going to be on limited re-release in theaters in 3D on September 16th!!! So, its during our cruise......how cool would that be if they showed Lion King in 3D on the ship?......and if not, wondering if the "limited release" will extend until we return to the states later in the month. I would love love love to see it on the big screen! :lovestruc

I hate to see the HP movies end too! Heard great reviews about it. I hated when the Lord of the Rings series ended and the Twilight books ended (still have a couple of Twilight movies to look forward to!). It's been nice to read the books and then have the movies come out. It was like you had something exciting to look forward to and now it's coming to an end! I also hope Rowling does another series!

Me too Deb! You never know I guess - if writing was really something you enjoyed doing, you wouldn't just stop I suppose.

Hazel and I have spent the past 2 days with nasty stomach bug kindly shared by one of the children! Feeling a bit more human today though. Not nice being ill at the same time though as sympathy is in very short supply!! :rotfl2:

Well,:hug::hug: I have LOTS of sympathy to offer you! I hope you all feel better soon! Keep your liquids up b/c its easy to get dehydrated w/ a stomach bug.

And yep, I'm back in town. Sorta. Long story short; they couldn't get me down with the sedation. Warned them for it, but as usual it got brushed away with a "we've got enough, never seen that happen and you're just a smallish girl, don't worry". Sure. So back home with nothing done except me learning that some very basic health items are not being taken care of (will be bringing family/friends along to avoid this from now on), being horibly sick from the meds they used to try and get me down and losing a scare amount of weight. Fingers crossed I can get myself back together somewhat, in which case a new attempt will be done on Wednesday. You guys won't believe how peed off I am and made that very clear yesterday. Only 7 weeks to recover if that doesn't fail in the condition I'm in now........ somebody in that hospital isn't going to survive if I don't make this cruise if I have any say in it.

Oh Jacqueline, I am so sorry to hear that things didn't go to plan. :sad2: Here's hoping for success next week.

Soooooooo jealous of all of you who can see the new HP movie now! Here is Skopje, we don't get "current" films and then when the do come they are covered in subtitles and the theater experience is "culturally different" so to say...people arrive 30 minutes late, movies never start on time, and until last year, smoking inside the theater. Needless to say we have not really enjoyed our movie going experience the last two years.

I was lucky to see part 1 of HP last year when I was back in the States for a conference. I am hoping it is still in theaters on Sept 25 when we arrive!

Enjoy it on the big screen for me.

Amanda

Amanda, when you do get back in the states, check on fandango.com for the movie and see if its playing anywhere in the area. I think it will still be in theaters, but even if its out of the big theaters, there are usually cheaper (like $1 or $3 ticket) theaters that run slightly older movies and you'd be able to find them on fandango.

We are back from our holiday to Disneyland Paris. We had a nice time there and are now looking forward to our next holiday the cruise and WDW.

This is a photo of the enchanted firework at Disneyland Paris. It gives me still everytime goosebumps when I see it. (and I see it a many times)

Thank you for the photo Liesbeth! Beautiful fireworks :cloud9:

We just got off the 10 nt Med cruise, and I am hoping to book this one with a good friend. I've already put up a kayak alert for airfare - I would be coming from Houston, my friend from Baltimore. Does anyone have any good tips for finding inexpensive one way airfare? We flew R/T from Barcelona for $1100 this time (we flew for alot less last year when we did the Med cruise in May 2010. Anyway, hope to join ya'll. Just waiting for the go -ahead from my friend and some decent one way airfare. Would love some suggestions. We are both flexible for arrival date - planning to get in at least one day before the cruise but could do more. :)

Hope you can make it onboard. My husband is originally from Houston and we lived there for a few years before we moved to Florida. Continental seems like the best bet from Houston, so I would check their website first.

Also, since you are flexible on the arrival date, don't forget that you can always train in from another city if you find cheap airfare to a specific European city. For example, on our EBTA last year, we ended in Barcelona but trained to Madrid and flew out of there instead b/c it was cheaper (and seeing Madrid was a bonus!)

I was googling something and found this ... it's made out of Lego ..

Totally SUCKS! WHEN will the medical community finally learn WE know our bodies better than they do? You *WILL* be on the cruise. You *WILL* be on the cruise!

Love it! Hope the kit comes with really good instructions!

So I'm thinking of decorating my door gradually over the cruise, adding something everyday. I know there's a rule of no tape to adhere objects to the door, but is their anything about covering your door with paper (cutting out a hole for the room number and door handle) and sticking it to the door with magnets? Fire hazard? haha I just drew up something kinda cool and think it would be fun for me and cruise mates to see a scene build over 14 days.

By the way, I was wondering. The image Lynne posted in her recap under the subject of FE-gifts, that's a joke right? Kinda wondering a bit with me having missed way too much of the fun and all.

Yes it was a joke. :)

And I said something to the effect that Claire is lucky my aesthetic sense prevents me from making one of those things, even as a joke, or she'd be getting one for sure. In the favorite 70's colors of brown and orange. :rotfl:

Try 1800flyeurope.com or cheapoair.com. We got one-way from Orlando to Barca for around $550 each.

i'm pretty sure i've seen a photo on here of someone who did that before. not 100% sure though......

Shhhhhh!

Besides, anyone who signs up after August 1 gets put in that catch-all latecomers group where I don't have to worry about the number of cabins, adults, kids, house elves, or anything else being even with the other groups. I think I'll call that group...

Topeka.

No offense to anyone from Kansas. Just trying to think of a place far from the ocean or any Disney ports.

No offense taken by this group from Topeka, as long as we aren't in the Topeka group since we already live here! :lmao:

I think i've seen something like this before so I would think providing you use magnets to attach it that would be ok.

What is your room number? I would love to see what develops over the 2 weeks.

Thank goodness for that! Although if one did find it's way into my FE I am sure it would be swimming with the fishes somewhere in the Atlantic before we reach the Caribbean. ;)

Morning everyone...wow so many pages to catch up with.

*note to self - don't be ill, you miss too much;)*

Thank you again for the get well wishes...I am still feeling rubbish but hoping it's the bit where it gets worse before getting better.

Too many posts to multi quote -

Jacqueline I am sorry to hear your op didn't go ahead

Welcome to the new & future cruisers:wave:

Love the Lego ship - very cool.

Glad you had a good trip at DLP liesbeth

Hope you manage to sort the airfares and book the cruise. These one way fares are a pain.

We had search on the website of momondo for the flight back. It is indeed a problem to get a one way ticket directly by the airlines for a fair price. People of the belgium/dutch forum suggested to book a return flight and then not show on the way back.
We found eventuely a cheaper one way flight on the website of exploretrip. I found it scarry, but I get the confirmation within a few minutes and the e-ticketnumbers directly. I search on the website of British Airways (which we fly with) and yes our flight was confirmed there and I could see our booking. We are flying back from Orlando to Amsterdam on oct 2nd for $ 600 pp
I hope you find a reasonably airfare and come on whit the WBTA

Awesome! I'm unassigned at the moment, but I'll let you know! Now I'm off to see Paul McCartney in New York City, so I won't be on the board this evening. Have a magical day everyone! :thumbsup2

It all depends what you're look for of course. We thoroughly researched 1800flyeurope.com They are recommended by frommer's and seem very reputable. We were going to book with them but then we changed our minds to go to Paris for a few days prior and Pittsburgh has a non-stop flight to paris... so we booked rountrip and aren't using the return flight. Just remember not to book your flight from MCO to BWI on with it because all portions are cancelled after you don't show up for a segment.

This is awesome. DH would love that pattern. When we were at WDW a few weeks ago he asked if he could get the pattern for that Buzz statue. Apparently they don't give those out, which is good for me because if he had been able to get eveything to make it I wouldn't see him for days.

We are back from our holiday to Disneyland Paris. We had a nice time there and are now looking forward to our next holiday the cruise and WDW.
Thanks for posting that picture. We are getting so excited about going to Disneyland Paris before the cruise. Any recommendations for us? We've never been. We'll be there Sept 5-9 with DD that's 2.

Morning everyone...wow so many pages to catch up with.

Hope you feel better! It is a lot to catch up on when you miss a few days. I can only imagine the conversations once yu get us all together. :goodvibes

:welcome: to all the new cruisers. We are Lauren, James, and Lorelei. We're live in the mountains of West Virginia and this will be our 6th cruise. DH and DD's first time in Europe.
