I am so excited to join all of you on this amazing trip. :cool1: In the past, I traveled on the Maiden Eastern Transatlantic. Now, I'm looking forward to bringing the Magic home. I will be traveling with my long term boyfriend/partner Erik. He has only traveled once on DCL and it didn't go well. He was very sea sick. I'm so nervous for him.:scared:

 Hello Natasha and Erik, welcome to the thread! We are Lorraine and Paul from Ottawa, Canada, but both of us are originally from England. Fingers crossed for a smooth sailing and that it is a better experience for Erik this time:wizard:

I've lost the Pub Crawl Martini Glass pic for t-shirts..... I saw it here, the liquid was margarita colored.

Can someone tell me where it is hiding??

TIA......

Hi everyone-

Those of you who are interested in gathering for a 9/11 Memorial, please quote me and reply so that I can try to find some space shipboard (unofficially of course) for us to meet, and have an idea who would like to come.

I'm not a speechy person, so those that might want to talk can- and those that just want to remember can do that too.

As the first jet crashed at 8.46, I thought that we might think of getting together at around 8.30.

As always, suggestions are welcome!

Last year the tour 5 Euros per adult person when you make your own reservations on the site. You do not pay on the site. This is a reservation only site and you pay on the tour. Minimum age for tasting is 18 and was confirmed by Eusébia who had called Blandy’s about children being allowed to take part in guided tours with their parents, they said “Yes, they are” and they even added that from the age of 6 till they are 15, children pay only 2.50 Euros, under 6 years of age is free. From 15 on then on they pay full price.

As far as I know there in only Madeira wine for sale. If you go the Old Blandy Wine lodge site you can educate yourself about Madeira. Last year John and I bought wine, wine glasses and a honey cake.

All this and more info is available on the West Madeira tour link I made. Link is pretty large so it may take a minute or so to load.

West Madeira tour

Any more questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to post or PM me.

Ok, so would we need to do the West Madeira tour to join you or can we meet you there at 4:30? I will not know for sure if we can go on this until after the 14th if that is ok too. That is when I will be able to confirm which Santa Maria tour we will be able to go on.

I know I've seen some of you following this thread about the EBTA, but if you haven't been, and you are interested in seeing some awesome pix of Madeira from someone who went on a Daniel Taxi tour, check this out

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2737891&page=8

Thanks for flagging that! That is what we reserved... a 4.5 hour tour with Daniel Taxi since we felt an all-day tour would be too long for our little ones...

Did someone mention they spoke with DCL and they thought that at least the memorial services would be televised? Time change from NYC... so it would put it after lunch?

I spoke to DCL and she didn't know exactly what was going to happen, but that they have the day marked as "Patriot Day" and there will be something - she said it could just be extra flags, a moment of silence, or something more elaborate.

I asked her if we could watch "live" news (like CNN) and she said that yes, that is on all the time in different venues. The Ground Zero ceremonies will probably begin at 8-8:30am EST, so that would be...between Spain and Gibraltar we would be either 5 or 6 hours ahead? Probably still 6, so roughly 2pm or so? We would have to check out the time change. I was planning on just watching the coverage somewhere, not sure where, depends on if my kids will stay alone at the clubs that soon in the cruise (in other words, I may need to be at a family friendly venue). I was thinking Cove Club (the place that has the pastries ;)) but I think it is adults only?

I'd like to join the get together. I'm from the north east and travel to NYC frequently. I'm not a speech person either, more reflective. i'd like to grab a soda, watch cnn and be with people. 8:30EST would probably be the most appropriate, depending on which time zone we're in.

I'll try to pack my I<3 NY shirt for patriot day.

You can do either tour and still be back in time to do the tour at Old Blandy's. You can let me know after the Aug 14th as I will accept more persons on the tour until August 27.

If you meet us there at 4:30 PM, I can not guarantee you will be on the same tour as those on the West Madeira tour as Eusébia will be ensuring our tour members will tour together.

Finally I have decided what door magnets I am going to do. We are going w/ a Toy Story theme and hopefully lots of people can enjoy our magnets since we'll be somewhat near (but not right across from!)the mid ship elevators on deck 6.

Sounds fun Liz, I will look out for your door. :thumbsup2

I think i've just about finished my magnets,if I do anymore & they probably won't fit on the door. :lmao:

You must of missed my big gigantic letters when I got my room number.:rotfl: I am in 6592

Lol, how did I miss that??
:thumbsup2

Where we are on Sep 11 is 5 hours ahead of NYC, so 1:30 pm would be an appropriate time, giving us time to eat lunch and gather together.

Is there something we could release into the air or throw off the upper deck of the ship that wouldn't be ecologically harmful? Someway to represent each of the people that died that day?

Can anyone in the UK recommend any particular brand of seasickness tablets? I don't think we can get Bonine over here? :confused3

I'm hoping we won't need them but though it better to be prepared.

My mum, dad and nan have always sworn by Stugeron so we got some in Boots as it's 3 for 2 at moment.

We've just went for the ginger sweets Claire. Got them from a health store. I'm hoping we don't need them - better to be safe though.

Thanks, i've got some ginger sweets but I didn't know if it's best to take both or just one or the other?

After a bit of research by a pharmacist last year, we found that TRAVELeeze(spelt like that) has Meclizine in which is what Bonine has. Works for me.
