Wow, what a week! I had 20+ pages to catch up on.

I wen to Tampa for work last week, came home to a mess with reconfiguring the laundry room for a new stacked washer/dryer....then the delivery of the unit was a mess...struggled with tummy trouble throughout the week....and then DH had surgery yesterday!

Needless to say, I've been off the boards this whole week. I'm feeling better though still not great. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day that I return to my normal self.

Take care,

Keri (aka, another Karen)

Hope you are feeling better soon Keri, wishing for a speedy recovery for your DH too. :wizard:

Today we paid for our tips, wine plan and meal plan for after the cruise...so happy to get some of this done:cool1:

Can someone tell me where I can find images of the Mickey head flags for the places we will be visiting? I tried Google images and searching the DIS boards, but the results were a bit overwhelming.

Thanks!!

Could you prepay the tips online or did you have to call? I don't recall seeing the option on the website anywhere.

We are going to order the wine package the week before we sail.

Hi All

And a hearty :welcome: to our new crew-mates.

I seem to remember someone posting about a trip in St Maarten with Captain Alan. I'm not sure if anyone had arranged a group excursion.

However, if anyone has any information of a current organised trip, or a previous trip, I'd be happy to hear any comments.

We were thinking of a morning beach/boat trip, then an afternoon in Marigot for a late lunch and a little shopping at the market. We're interested in the logistics of getting around.
Can we:
1. Pick up a taxi from the port?
2. Pick up a taxi from Capt Alan's dock?
3. Pick up a taxi in Marigot to return us to the ship.

See you all in nine weeks :thumbsup2

Hi Jane and Dave!

Our family is booked with Capt Alan for the morning - we haven't organised a group, but if he still has room on his boat, I'd love to see you on the day! We went with them last November and they were fantastic!

If you go to his website you can send a reservation request, and this includes an option for taxi pickup/dropoff at the port. I was hoping to negotiate a trip over to Malo to watch the airplanes for a while in the afternoon - the taxi driver last year was great and probably would have agreed to it.

Give Alan a shout to check availability and let us know if you'll be joining us!

See you soon!

thought I would do a quick intro before I start reading through (at least page 4) all the older posts.

I am Mic, and travelling with my youngest Sarah (13) and hoping my oldest Talena (24) will get to join us. We live in MN and I was lucky enough to do the EBTA and when my new friend Monique said she was going on the WBTA, I talked DH into letting us go.

:)

I am in the process of getting our name on the rollcall, signing up for the FEE and seeing what all else is going on.

Welcome Blake and Seamour and any new cruisers I may have missed in the last few days. Welcome to the party, which will be so much fun

We are margaret and norman fron kent in the UK

Book Exchange

message from Jane (we're aliens), the organiser of the 2011 WBTA book swap

During our first Disney cruise last year, I was befuddled enough to think that I would have plenty of time to read all sorts of great books.
How wrong can you be? A quick look at the daily Navigator revealed that if I got up early enough, I might just have time to get in the odd paragraph before rushing off to some fabulous meal, fun event or mind-expanding seminar.

Too funny, on the EBTA I loaded up my kindle thinking I too would have lots of reading time. I did not finish one book in the entire 2 weeks. My friend said she didn't get one chapter done!

marilyn, thats an awesome photo, thanks for sharing, it kinda puts the whole island in perspective

I do not make a habit of going around badmouthing anyone in the service industry but we had a private tour booked with Mark at Gibraltar Tours and it was overall a bad experience. We were on the EBTA in May. We waited 1 1/2 hours from our pick up time while Mark kept making excuses for our driver. In the end he sent us with someone else, and we ended up paying what we were planning too but not getting exactly what Mark had agreed too. Our driver was great, but again the agreement was not made with him originally, we did not get the tour of the tunnels we had requested and he actually picked up two more passengers who rode in our private van at St. Michaels Cave. We also found out from the other group on our ship that had set up a tour with Mark that their tour was not as promised either. they had alot of issues in regards to getting what they were promised (by Mark who was of course not there) and being charged more.

Also, if you are setting up a private tour, make sure you have english pounds to pay in. DCL had told me they would be able to exchange onboard, but they only had euros for exchange. We ended up paying in euro and after figuring things later, found out we were charged about $90 more for that little conversion.

As for Gibraltar itself, it's a wonderful place and I cannot wait to go back!

Yes we did call to get them paid so we didn't have to worry about them on our bar oops cruise bill:rotfl:

Hi Dawn, Steve,Calum and Eilidh.

Thanks for the info we'll get in touch with Capt Alan to see if we can join you.
Sounds like a great trip.

It looks like we are the only cruise ship in on that day so there may be a good chance of a place, we'll let you know how we get on.

See you in September.:yay:

Lol. We were the same way. I think the only time we cracked open a book on the flight home.

Both DD and I are making gifts which are fairly easily packed and transported, so we will try to give to all. No problem splitting into groups of whatever number (20-25 is reasonable); we'll just sign up for multiples. My max would be 60 cabins, based on supplies purchased so far.

Ugh, three hours of sleep tonight due to a head cold. Oh well, more time to read the boards and trip-think (silver lining ).

DD and I talking about FEE gifts, we LOVE to make things together!

Also, how does the OBC process work? We have $200 coming from DU and another $50 for using Disney Visa. Is this automatically applied to your account and a note sent to your stateroom when you get on the ship? I'm just wondering what happens if the correct amount(s) aren't applied and we don't know it until we set sail. :confused3

yes like another poster said, go to guest services and question it. Disney will follow through even though we are at sea and contact DU if needed.

Welcome aboard :goodvibes It seems we have a lot of returning EBTA's in our group .. Disney must have put on a good cruise experience for you guys :thumbsup2

DCL did an awesome job as always, but much like anything alot of it was due to the incredible people I met onboard as well, so as more of them started signing up, I just couldn't help myself! I cannot wait to see so many of them again, AND to meet all of you as well!

I do like the idea of multiples of 14. If we don't assign people to certain days (and I hear the groans from people who want it to be spontaneous and not assigned....sorry!!!! :rolleyes1:rolleyes1), what happens if say 8 - 10 people decide to deliver the FE gifts all on the same day? My little FE isn't big enough for that many gifts!!!!! I will go along with whatever is decided but just keep in mind that lots of people could deliver on the same day and if you are gone all day, you could come back to a pile of gifts all over the hallway. I'm just saying......;)

We didn't assign on EBTA and my FE didn't get too full, we did get most of our gifts before we hit the ports in Europe however.
