Is anyone bringing along a Nook? I just got one a few months ago and love it. I'd be happy to swap books with anyone with a nook (I'll just have to figure out how to do that).

I figured that without a Nook, I'd need an entire suitcase for books and with all the clothes to bring, that isn't possible.

One last update, we have decided to extend our stay a few days at Disney World when we get back to the US. We are planning to stay at Port Orleans Riverside through Wednesday and my DH is flying in on Saturday to join us. We are hoping to do MNSSHP on Tuesday evening and then fly home on Wednesday. I'm so excited as my now 3 week trip will become a 3.5 week trip!

Best to all,

Keri (another one of the Karens!)

not sure if jane is away - i thought i PMd everyone about the new thread, but there is a chance i may have missed her. the info is in full on page two, you could copy and paste that if you want, the wording is jane's, i just copied it into a post

Thanks, will do!

You might check to see if you can use calibre to exchange books from your Nook.

Don't forget, John and I will be publishing a DIS Navigator that you can either print out, view on your computer or put on you iPod, Android or iPad.

It should have all the daily activities for the DIS board, birthdays, anniversaries etc. Anything people want to add, they should PM me.

Noel....that is an awesome idea! Thanks so much!!!!! :worship::worship:

(sigh) lots of brunches left, but no one to share with as my DH is not cruising and my DS is too young.

Anyone want to join me for brunch one day? I hate to take up a 2 top table for just one!

Keri

John and I have brunch scheduled for thursday, sept 15 at 11:30 AM. You are welcome to join us if you can get a ressie or maybe we can just check on board.

Noel

Thanks for all the info about the book exchange.

Birkner, I've got kindle on my IPad but can't get to grips with reading on screen, it gives me a headache rather than help me to wind down.

Mandygirl, just had a look at bernardtours in st Maarten and we are looking to book this. Are you looking at doing a group booking ? If so will you PM me when you get a reply,

Thanks

Paul, Helen & Grace

I wouldn't read on either my iPad or my computer but I am completely hooked on my Kindle. It is a very different experience and much easier to read in the sunlight that a regular book. Plus at night, I have a book light connected to it which makes reading in bed easier.

I concur with Noel. I too have an iPad and, while I occassionally enjoy "secretly" reading at night under the covers so as not to wake DH, I adore my Nook. The e-ink reading is far better than the iPad...particularly in sunlight!

Our friends (one of whom is our TA) have given us money for going to Palo, and I really wanted to be able to go for a special dinner for our anniversary. Ideally, I'd like to go more than once! (my husband and I don't get out much together). But what if we can't get a booking at all?

Don't stress. We have Palo booked on the second formal night at 8pm, if you don't get a booking you are welcome to have ours. We are already doing tea and brunch which is what I truly wanted ... and dinner was just an after thought. I can also change the time if that doesn't work out for you.

I'll be bringing mine along. I'm with you on carrying an entire library with me, especially for two weeks. Especially with all those sea days and all that glorious free time to read!

I know some of my books are marked "share," but as I don't know anyone else with a Nook, I haven't tried it. I also have an aversion to reading instruction manuals, so I have no idea how that works.

Yep - the one that is $40 per person and under age 3 free. I just sent him a quick reply to make sure he had our phone # for doing a deposit. I will let you know when he replies. :thumbsup2

What I like about the itinerary is you get a little of everything. :)

Really?? That would be so fantastic of you! I'm really overcome at the thought someone would do that for a stranger :grouphug:

(the time is even perfect - we always eat late)

Let's see how I get on the 27th, and if I can get a booking, and if not, I'll let you know. Thank you so much!!

I'm not sure who it is booked through, Mary (Tod&Copper) organised it & her hubby is driving. I am sure she will tell you when she is back next weekend. :thumbsup2

Oh, I thought you were hiring a driver, too. Hmm, that Harley rental is starting to look pretty good right now. Wonder if they have helmet laws there. Does anyone know if driving on St. Maarten is as crazy as say, Nassau or Jamaica?

Pat and Sarah - I've booked horseriding in St maarten for myself and dd beth, beth takes lessons but she promises me it's easy ; )) I've never been riding ever, just off to bed, will post website tomoro x x

Hi all,

Andrew and I are sneaking in a week at Disney (love DVC!) with my niece and nephew next month. Does anyone want me to do a Fairy Godmailer card for their child? For those that have never done this, it usually is a post card from the child's favorite character saying somehting like can't wait to see you soon on the Magic or something similar. If you want, let me know and I'll get it out when I am there.

Just checked out their website - this looks like a good option. You could do this trip and be done by 12:45 and still have time to go to Maho beach to watch the planes...

Edit: I would be willing to contact them to get more info if interested. It looks like their boats hold 14 people and it is $69 US per person with an additional $12 pp for the transportation to/from the port.

Captain Alan Booking Info

Do you mind sharing what this excursion cost and do you have to have a group already or do they put you together to make a group?

The more the merrier!! Last year, it was just us 4 and my parents, and because they'd had no other bookings that day, we had the whole boat to ourselves. A private tour! But the boat is a good size, and we went to a bunch of locations. We learned how to snorkel and even our young son tried it. It would be a blast with more people, so let us know if you book it! (I don't know if he's had bookings from other groups for that date, but I've got my fingers crossed for you!)

I know my husband really wants to see the St Maarten airport on the beach - there would probably be time after the boat tour to do this. I was thinking of asking the taxi driver if he could be persueded to take a detour before dropping us back off at the pier. You never know...

Let us know if you book it - it was so much fun! Worth every penny - Captain Alan is a lovely guy, a great tour guide, and a very patient snorkel teacher!

Here's some pics from the day:
