For those of you interested in the canyoning in Madeira, someone on the PassPorter boards did this on the EBTA last year. She wrote about it here:

Madeira trip report

Not a lot of details, but it should give you some idea of what it was like.

Thank you!! Watching this made DH and me jump around the kitchen for joy!

Fit Flops are AWESOME !!!! I bought 2 pairs and I love, love, love them. No breaking, soooooo comfy.

Me too, I live in them onboard.(So why am I taking the other 15 pairs of shoes then:confused3:rotfl2:)

Every time I go into the shoe store in my village, the staff there tell me how wonderful and popular the Fit Flops are, but I have yet to try on a pair. After reading your endorsements for them, though, I feel a visit to that store is in my near future! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to Karen for winning the DIS UK quiz this month :worship::worship:

and well done to Claire for coming second :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We have stars in our midst :cool1::cool1:
:thumbsup2great job:thumbsup2

I love cooking so I look forward for some demontrations on the ship.
Do you get recipes or is it just looking and can you tast as well?

Yes you do get the recipes we still have ours from last year.

We have one of these new fish spa places just opened on a popular shopping street in town. I walk past it every day almost and it is always busy with men as well as women. They have a couple of the tanks in the window at each end, so you sit in full view. YUK!

Ewww!! *skin crawling*

its an open thing, no need to book, times will be in the navigators. its something along the lines of "art of entertaining"

Art of Entertaining is how it was on the EBTA last year - like Art of Entertaining - Desserts or something like that.

Yeah these Were great fun on last years WBTA, as mentioned these were hosted by the executive chef of Animal Kingdom, he demonstrated 3 different dishes over a 3 day period and then you all got to taste a sample, with FREE wine paring, and got a recipe card to take home. Hope they do it again this year.

SW

Would LOVE to have some of those Animal Kingdom dishes!

Hi all,
My wife and I were able to secure a great deal on the Transatlantic and as of today are paid in full and along with our 2 sons (8,4) are looking forward to this cruise. This is much more overwhelming than the last cruise we went on, but we are looking forward to it.

Is it to late to sign up for some of the events?

Welcome William and family!!!!

BTW.. someone asked about manicures on board... I had one at a price of $50. this was just a plain manicure... no fake nails etc. I will never waste my $$ again for this. The polish was half off by dinner time and I had to remove the rest and repaint my own nails. That was the biggest waste of money I ever spent on board..... I also heard others had the same issues....

I wonder what polish they used that just chipped off like that? Do you remember? I wonder if you could bring your own polish & basecoat.....

Home tonight from our 7-night Alaskan cruise on the Wonder; read 30+ pages and then found out Part 4 is already to this page; I'm putting off reading until tomorrow.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes - Tracy Arm cruising was a great way to spend a special day. The scenery in Alaska is beautiful. Best cruise ever - mainly due to the scenery and the abundance of port excursion choices.

Welcome home Lynne! I'm glad that your Alaska cruise was so wonderful! Lets see some pictures.

You are way too organised!!! :worship:

I thought I was doing well.....I bought my first top for the cruise yesterday! So far I have 1 new top, 2 new pairs of sandals and some suntan lotion.

Lol, forget the Naked Man in Barcelona.....I'm the Naked Woman on the Magic! :lmao:

LOL Claire, I was thinking along the same lines.....hmmm she might want some pants with that top!

You better buy a few more things before we go ... one thing you won't have to worry about is excess baggage. I am on the lookout for new sandals too .... something comfortable for sight-seeing

I'm on the lookout for comfortable sandals too, Sarah. It seems really hard to find sandals that are both nice looking and comfortable; add to the mix that a lot of stores in Ottawa don't carry shoes in the small size that I need (3 UK; 5 US) and it makes for a frustrating experience! :sad2: Though I'm sure Paul thinks I have enough shoes already :rotfl2::rotfl2:

About shoes, I found some great shoes for my trip in May and I wore them nearly every day of vacation - walking miles and miles around Rome, Venice, Barcelona, etc. on cobblestones and did some light hiking in them as well. They held up beautifully after going through the ringer for 2 weeks and were very comfortable from the start.

The brand is Merrell. Here is their website: http://www.merrell.com
They sell in the US, the UK and elsewhere, but if you get to the US site, just click on the flag in the upper right hand corner and it will allow you to select your country. You can also do the store locator if you don't want to purchase online - they have a small selection at DSW in the states.
The pair I bought is this one: http://www.merrell.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/20077W/0/Womens/Bassoon?dimensions=0

But there are lots of other styles. These shoes are made for hiking so they are great walking shoes. Light for packing and worth every penny b/c they last. Highly recommend! :thumbsup2

Still haven't read this part of the thread, but I thought I'd pass along the latest info on what is/is not available to book

Lynne thanks so much for updating us on what is available. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can get the reservations we want.

I personally am a teva convert. They have great fitting, a good footbed, sturdy material and are made for outdoor sportings. Which means; they hold up amazingly, whatever you do. This includes surviving many of those Florida down pours without any "harm" done.

Girl, you sound a lot like me! Love my Keens, but have several Tevas I enjoy as well. I have one pair of Teva sandals that are "more dressy" that I have even worn to church! My shoe collection is what I find on clearance with Keen, Teva, Chaco, and North Face. And trust me, I'm the bargain hunter! Now we just need to live in the mountains somewhere... :thumbsup2

My very first pair of "outdoorsy" shoes were Merrells. I remember buying them prior to our first cruise so I could do Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica. Hard to believe that was 11 years ago... time flies! But I sure enjoyed them, and still have them as my "garage" shoes for yardwork. Last forever! :thumbsup2

I know many of you are will be arriving at Barcelona Airport before the cruise. If you are going to use the airport shuttle here is an intresting little story

Thank you for sharing that, Norman.

I guess you could say that it was an inside job and that I'm glad that the case :rotfl: is finally closed on this one :woohoo:

Is it me or is the time starting to speed up :dance3::cheer2:

:sad2: GROAN!!

The Aerobus from El Prat doesn't have luggage compartments so I guess those of us flying into it won't have to worry about that. I read something about thieves trying to grab stuff and run when the doors open, but considering how heavy my bags will be, I don't think anyone will be able to do a grab-and-run on mine. :rotfl:

We'll be right there with ya, Pat!

Yeah, the thieves will take one look at all of us and find an easier target. They also will not want to deal with a jet-lagged middle-age woman. :furious: Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I was going to say you're DD looks like a force to be reckoned with! :teeth:

LOL - Yes! I'm telling ya... Miss Independent. She was definitely born that way - first thing the pediatrician told us, and she hit the nail on the head. Don't want to think about the teenage years. :scared1:

Game for whatever. I actually started planning this as a day time event. I was thinking 1130ish to 4/5ish which is how I have always done them in the past.

I will go with the group. and If we do it on Mickey Mouse Club Dinner night perhaps we can incorporate that into the shirt design.

Thoughts from the wider group?

Mickey Mouse Pub Club - someone just needs to do a design tweak

Good morning everyone, welcome to all the newcomers. Has anyone heard if Ducky Williams will be on our cruise? Tried to look up a schedule it used to be posted on the disney cruise website but nothing. Thanks Cindy

krisannb posted that Ducky will be on the DVC cruise during our WBTA.

...And that's not even counting the times we ran into Americans that had Dutch roots and just loved to hear some Dutch and such. (got to say, have a soft spot for that though, I love hearing those old familystories that go back even centuries) I'm sure there will be others on this cruise that just simply haven't signed up on here or one of the 2 dutch boards. ...

If I go back 7 generations (to 1666) on my father's paternal line, I still haven't reached my ancestors who came to New Amsterdam from Holland - one of them married an American-born girl of Dutch descent. We certainly high-tailed it out of the low country a long time ago. I think I also found a Spainard who moved to Holland whose child married into the Dutch family.

"The shoe store in my village..." - that sounds so charmingly quaint. Especially compared to "when I go to the mall" or "when I am shopping online."

This is the one I got myself and will be part of the 3 sets of footwear in total I'm taking along (incl. what will be on my feet during travel);

I'm wearing the exact same pair right now :goodvibes Our Family loves Teva as well. Yes they are expencive but we were lucky enough to find a store that offered a 20% discount.

I have culled through my photos; these give a pretty good idea of the cruise and what I enjoyed about it (I'll use 3 posts so it's not so long):

Amazing photos Lynne. :thumbsup2

I just unpacked from the EBTA and left most things in their baggies and put in a drawer to be repacked... other than clothes. Don't think I will need to do much if any shopping before this one.
DH is not going so I have no one to handle my luggage but me... this brings a new light to how much I will pack...:rotfl2::rotfl2: Seems I am thinking I don't need near as much stuff as I took on the EBTA :confused3

Wow it's going to be so easy for you to pack when the time comes. :)
