Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

All this talk about sun screen is sure a day brightener for me - we're in a gloomy rainy period here.

If I look at the sun I get brown, so no laying out for me. Never did - it's hard for me to stay still more than 10 minutes anyway.

Anyone got any trips planned before September?

Good Morning Linda (lunchtime here now), we have a lovely bright sunny day here.

I'm not allowed to talk about it as everyone goes mental about how we are always on holiday, but if you check out my signature :cool1:

Between the skin cancer issue and trying to keep my aging skin moisturized (fighting those wrinkles all the way), I'll stick with my pale look, thank you! ;)

Funny story about that "healthy" tan thing. Dennis and I were standing in line at Hurricane Hannah's at the Beach Club. The woman in front of us was probably in her 30's but her skin looked like an old leather handbag. She was wearing a bikini with "Juicy" written across her backside (as in Juicy Couture, but Dennis didn't know that). He and I looked at the word, then at each other, and both said, "Juicy? I don't think so!" :rotfl:

OMG that is hilarious, that the sort of thing that DH would say :lmao::lmao:

I have always tanned pretty easily but over the last ten years or so I have started to suffer with a heat rash which can get pretty nasty, it can swell up so I have to be careful about how much time I spend in the sun. It doesn't help that I always get eaten alive by mozzies too so that makes me itch which makes my skin even worse! :headache:

Has anyone got any cures for mozzies? I take garlic capsules everyday for about 3 weeks leading up to a trip and throughout the holiday, I also take anti histamine for that time too (for my heat rash) but I still get it every time.

Claire I get eaten alive too and they don't touch Stevie or Rachel. I have the cure !!! Avon skin so soft oil spray. The fresh green one. It is sworn by everyone all over the world anyone visiting the west coast of Scotland gets eaten alive in summer. Everyone over there or visiting, puts it on their horses and pets as well. Bonus, it keeps your skin moisturised too :thumbsup2

My friend is an Avon rep and they are not allowed to advertise its anti-mozzy qualities, but every rep keeps dozens of bottles in their stocks :thumbsup2

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: It is all so true, that is the sad bit! So many look like the Madge in the TV programme Benidorm.;):rotfl:

Claire re the mozzies Neil always goes to Walmart camping section and buys the stuff they have there. But sadly we're not going to be anywhere near a Walmart I know. Anything with DEET should stop them biting you.

The only time I get bit is when I've been near water at night. Like standing in Epcot waiting for Illuminations :confused3

Mary you must have rich blood ;)

The mossies are all waiting for us in humid St Maarten after our trip across!!!:scared1: Believe me.

:lmao: You can talk about your holidays......i've got my fingers in my ears. :p

They really go to town on me! :headache: When I went to Mexico a few years ago I got bitten so bad that by the time I got home my legs had turned purple and really swollen, the doctor sent me to the hospital as they thought it was meningitis.

Someone recommended that Avon stuff to me last year but I totally forgot about it, I will definately buy some. :thumbsup2

I usually use stuff with Deet in but it doesn't work. :confused3

You are lucky! Lee doesn't get bitten either, it is horrid!

I, too, am a card-carrying member of the pale-is-beautiful club, not because I wouldn't love to have a gorgeous tan, but because I am also a lobster. DH turns several shades of brown over the summer, while I am either pasty white or scarlett...not much in between. I'm amazed that I've never developed skin cancer, based on multiple sunburns I suffered as a child. Oh, the memories....vacation nights lying in bed without any top sheet, skin blazing hot and absolutely miserable, swearing that would be the last time....until the next year came. Not much info on the harmful effects of the sun back then :scared1:.

To make it worse, I also have developed heat rash (or an allergy to sunlight ) as I've aged :confused3 and become quite itchy when in the sun too long. Life is not always fair! :headache:

Does anyone have luck with the self-tanners? Any brand you prefer? That's my only hope for sparing people from my leg-glare :goodvibes.

Unfortunately no real vacations for us prior to the cruise. :( We Americans need more vacation time!

I can't really complain. I have been at my job 19 years and have 5 weeks vacation time. We just got off a 2 week Mediteranean Cruise. It was awesome. Sadly, not Disney, Holland America. A bit of an older crowd for us, but nice non the less. Istanbul and Santorini were my favorite stops. 5 or 6 beach days between now and Sept. should get me through.

I get 15 days (3 weeks). 12 are being used for the WBTA, so it has been no vacation time for me between January 1 and the day we leave for the cruise. (My counter below isn't just until we leave for the WBTA - it's until I get a day off!) Stir crazy!

OMGosh, she looks awful, now that's someone whose spent more than their fair share in the sun....but she's bloody brilliant :rotfl2::rotfl:

Mel is on the phone to AVON :scared1:

I so feel your pain there. I want to know why my top half goes red/brown but my legs stay WHITE. :rotfl2:

I am the same :rotfl2: I will be armed with my self-tan for my legs too. They never seem to catch the sun like the rest of me :headache:

I use this one:-

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-tanning Gel tinted and shimmering for face & body

It comes in a shade for pale skin, so that works for me and you can see where you have applied it because of the shimmer :thumbsup2

I'll bet you are going stir crazy. You will appreciate this vacation all that much more.

Both my DD's are red heads complete with pale skin. I bought them this one Garnier Skin Naturals Summer Body Moisturising Lotion, it's a tinted moisturiser so you get browner gradually :)

:rotfl2: That is me too! Horrid white legs.........unless of course thay are red/purple from my rash.

Thanks hun, he is home now. Very woozy from the anaesethic & sporting a horrid three inch cut on the top of his head which has been bleeding. They also removed the lump on the back of his ear & both have been sent off to the lab.

Thankfully his chest x ray & bloods were all ok. :thumbsup2 So now we just have to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't scratch at his stitches and wait 10 days until he has his stitches removed and we get the results back. :wizard:

Aww bless him..give him a  from me.

I know both my girls don't like coming round from any op, they lie and cry all the time.
I hope he heals quickly...all of mine have to wear a cone:rolleyes1 Fingers crossed for more good results :wizard:
