I just don't understand the mentality of the people who stay out in the sun all day and end up peeling and looking like a beetroot. Unfortunately we get it all the time here when the sun comes out.
I'll stay in the sun for 10-20 mins tops, then I tend to either get too hot or get bored so I move.

The beetroot will be me. :rotfl2: I can't stay out in it all day unless I have a pool to cool off in, but I will go off and have lunch etc so I'm not out all day. I don't like the heat too much. :rolleyes1

The kids will be out all day every day. They never get burned and go the most glorious colour :furious: I am known as the lobster :rotfl2:

I tell the kids they have a head start so it's unfair

thanks deck 10 it is then, dont want to crisp but would like something more than the milk bottle colour i have now lol,

I'll be on deck 9 or 10 near the family pool anyway, I find the adult pool a bit too quiet for my liking. Besides I like all the cheesy stuff they tend to do around the family pool anyway. Gary will be in a hot tub somewhere. He pretty much lived in them last cruise. Me on the other hand wont be anywhere near them. The idea of a hot tub in hot weather is pretty much hell to me. For pretty much the same reason that i can't drink hot drinks in hot weather.....

I just might add in that I don't spend all day on deck 10 :lmao: just usually lie up there when I am sunbathing and use that area as a base during the day. DH sits at the table and chairs and reads his book :) He doesn't do sunbathing :lmao:

There is so much going on round the ship that we found we were there for a couple of hours in the morning and the same usually in the afternoon. I can't do midday sun, especially if the weather was the same as last year, it would cook you.

I am that usual whiter shade of blue Scottish colour and love being able to sit in the sun for a few hours a day and come home with a bit of colour too :thumbsup2

I don't get it either, Stevie loves to sit in the hot tub at the adult pool during the day too :confused3

I do like the sun & I love the heat, but I don't sit in it all day. I would get very bored. If it's hot I like to be in and out of the pool & shade. I also go a lovely shade of lobster before eventually changing.

Neil likes shade..doesn't do hot tubs because of the high blood pressure.

Hot tub and sunburn don't mix! :lmao:

It gets sooo hot in the tub so then I have to get in the pool to cool down but it's fereeeezing. :rotfl2: :scared1:

We all use it Mel, and DD didn't get burned either, it's quite waterproof :thumbsup2

I'm the white one in our family too, DH and DD go chocolate brown :(

Not fair is it :sad2:

I need to find a cream for Ethan as he's allergic to it.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Mel the Boots Soltan range does hypoallergenic for the kids. There are a few different types, whether you want "once" or not.

It's supposed to be good :thumbsup2

I'll try and get a sample. :thumbsup2

Poor thing comes up with a horrible itchy rash. I always thought it was heat rash. Last summer he put loads on his face and arms and his face was so swollen. he could hardly open his eyes. It really scared me. He also had the rash only on his arms and face and that's when I realised he's allergic to it. We've used loads of different ones and he always gets this rash.

He was on anti histamine for 2 WEEKS. I joke that he looked like Mickey Rouke after the plastic surgery :rotfl2:

He's lucky that he's dark skinned.

OMG that sounds awful, funny thinking of him looking like Mickey Rourke :rotfl2: but you must have been worried sick.

Hopefully Boots can let you have a wee tester to check whether it will work for him.

My DD has sensitive skin and we always used the Soltan stuff when she was little, but she doesn't seem to be bothered now since she is 16 and uses the same lotion as me

Between the skin cancer issue and trying to keep my aging skin moisturized (fighting those wrinkles all the way), I'll stick with my pale look, thank you! ;)

Funny story about that "healthy" tan thing. Dennis and I were standing in line at Hurricane Hannah's at the Beach Club. The woman in front of us was probably in her 30's but her skin looked like an old leather handbag. She was wearing a bikini with "Juicy" written across her backside (as in Juicy Couture, but Dennis didn't know that). He and I looked at the word, then at each other, and both said, "Juicy? I don't think so!" :rotfl:

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

All this talk about sun screen is sure a day brightener for me - we're in a gloomy rainy period here.

If I look at the sun I get brown, so no laying out for me. Never did - it's hard for me to stay still more than 10 minutes anyway.

Anyone got any trips planned before September?

I have always tanned pretty easily but over the last ten years or so I have started to suffer with a heat rash which can get pretty nasty, it can swell up so I have to be careful about how much time I spend in the sun. It doesn't help that I always get eaten alive by mozzies too so that makes me itch which makes my skin even worse! :headache:

Has anyone got any cures for mozzies? I take garlic capsules everyday for about 3 weeks leading up to a trip and throughout the holiday, I also take anti histamine for that time too (for my heat rash) but I still get it every time.

Mozzies love me too :scared1: Do you get them out to sea? :confused3
