All they want is food, pure and simple, and we aren't supposed to give them any. You are supposed to keep very still if one comes on you.;)

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

If one comes on me I'm sure i will break the 100m world record.....for men :scared1: :rotfl:

and I'll be ahead of you :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hi, everyone. My name is Tammy and I'll be sailing solo on the WBTA in September. My first cruise ever was a 3-night Bahamas cruise on the Wonder last October. Now I have three more booked! :rolleyes1 Didn't see much of the ship as I was busy swimming with the dolphins (yee haw!) and the cruise was so short, so I'm looking forward to the at sea days.

I live in Maryland but will be flying out of Philadelpha since there is a direct flight from there to BCN. Staying at the Renaissance the night before the cruise.

I'm a bit of a loner, but am up for coordinating dining (early seating). Please don't be offended when I don't show up on formal night!

welcome aboard Tammy ... :goodvibes:goodvibes

Is this Hardrian's Wall? Matt and I did a lot of travel in England in college and this reminds me of Hadrian's Wall. It's great to get to see pictures of everyone's adventures!

No I'm afraid it isn't ... just a regular wall. I have never seen Hadrian's Wall myself but I imagine it is a lot bigger.

What a wonderful sight to see our ship back on UK territory.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: None of our taxi got out at the main spot where the apes are, but came across them at other stops. I would have hated one to sit on me!!!:scared1::scared1:

Thanks Claire just looking now:thumbsup2

I was reading about that on a thread here on the DIS. It may be the same couple, she was a DISer & her husband, both were killed in that Tornado. :sad1: They had just returned from WDW the day before, where they had celebrated their 15th anniversary.....so sad, my thoughts to the families of everyone who has died and all those that have lost their homes.

I hate weather like that - so scary! So glad it wasn't worse.

If those of you outside of the States haven't heard, there was a terrible tornado in Joplin, Missouri, that literally destroyed half of the city. It's just rubble - no buildings left, cars overturned, huge trees shredded to splinters. One of the hospitals took a major hit, too. So many people lost their homes and have nowhere to go. I read on the PassPorter board that one of the regular members there and her husband were killed in the storm. So sad. :sad1:

Ours isn't so much the defence spending cuts as the waste - especially from the previous administration (which is all I will say in case someone here liked them, and given the rules of the DIS regarding politics). The latest controversy here is whether or not to eliminate government subsidies for the big oil companies. Drives me crazy. Like the big oil companies aren't making enough money on their own? And every day at the commissary on the Base, I see families of enlisted Airmen (and women) who have to use "food stamps" (subsidy for low-income families) to buy their groceries. I'm glad there is help for them, but wouldn't it be better to pay our enlisted people a wage they can live on??

Okay, off my soapbox now.

OMG that is so awful those poor people who were affected or were killed by the tornado :guilty: our thoughts and prayers are with them

Pat, we'll need to further this discussion and get on our soapboxes over a drink on the cruise :drinking1

Just thought I would share some photos of our trip to Yorkshire last weekend:

It was a lovely weekend ..... weather could have been better but it was indeed wonderful to get away from it all, lots of outdoor cooking and relaxing:

Sarah your photos look fantastic, the area looks beautiful. I could cope with glamping, Stevie has been trying to get me to do camping for years without success :lmao:

All they want is food, pure and simple, and we aren't supposed to give them any. You are supposed to keep very still if one comes on you.;)

Marilyn, I have never ran so fast in my life when one came near me, I didn't even stop to think about it..... luckily it went after DBIL rather than me :lmao::lmao:

Hi Tammy :welcome: aboard. We are Mary and DH Stevie from Scotland. This will be our 9th disney cruise and we did the WBTA last year and it was amazing experience.

Ask away any questions to this lovely bunch of cruisers we have acquired.

This reminds me of the rules of hiking in bear country:

You don't have to run faster than the bear - just faster than someone else in your group.

:confused3:confused3 I have no idea what to buy, a new laptop or an ipad ?

Help ??

I am sure a few of you here have ipads, would you recommend one over a laptop or a notebook?

I love my iphone, so I am familiar with the technology.

As a typical libran, I don't do decisions :confused3:confused3

I've got a laptop, Lee's got a notebook & we both want an ipad. :lmao:

hi tammy :)
i'm karen and i'm sailing with my husband gary. before last year we'd only ever done 3 nighters too, then we did a 7 night last year and loved the sea days!

love it :)

shame they can't set off for the WBTA from the UK. would make the travelling sooooo much easier!

its a good thing they dont have a chase instinct then!

I don't have anything. Stevie has a laptop and Rachel has a desktop. I use my iphone most of the time, but if I want to multi-answer posts, the iphone won't let you do that function.

I have to keep asking the 2 of them for a shot of their computer and it drives me crazy. I thought an ipad would be a good option for being so portable and reading ibooks on the WBTA :cool1:

Mary, DH has an iPad and uses it for everything. I must say though you can't multi quote on the iPad either as it's just like a huge iPhone.

We also have a Macbook and a Acer Netbook. The iPad and acer netbook will be coming away with us as they are great for travelling. The Macbook is a lot heavier.
The other thing to consider, I don't know what your budget is would be to consider a Macbook Air...these are very light.

I have an iPad but wouldn't want to use it for everything every day, so I would go for a laptop.

We have an Acer Netbook which is slim, light and does the trick - after that it's pen and paper - anybody remember those LOL?

IT WAS .... and the best thng about it was the heating .... and the en suite loo :thumbsup2

I like this plan ... must practice my running :rotfl2:

I would love an IPad - but can't really justify it as I already have a computer and an I Pod touch.

My niece has an iPod and bought an iPad - realized she wasn't gaining anything significant except for a bigger screen (think large print book) after about 3 days. So I bought it from her - made her a one-time offer while it was still new. I don't enjoy typing on a touch screen - much prefer to use my desktop Mac for anything involving more than a short sentence or two (and you know that is a challenge for me!)

I'm not the biggest fan of laptops, either, though, as I love being able to drag stuff around the screen with my mouse. Oh, how Mac has spoiled me.

I agree that if you could afford one of the thin Mac books, I'd check into that. My sister and girls have 4 Mac books among them, from basic to pro, and they really seem to enjoy them.

We are a Mac family. Sort of like a DCL family (though I'm itching to cruise Celebrity, Oceania and National Geo).

If you don't mind my asking, I was wondering if your flight is non-stop from Philadelphia to Barcelona, and if so,which airline? My father-in-law might want to use that connection instead.

It is US Airways flight 742 which is non-stop from PHL to BCN. Departs at 6:25 p.m. and arrives 8:25 the next morning.

Welcome Tammy. We are from Arnold, Maryland and flying out of Philly, too, but into Madrid on 9/1. Look forward to meeting you. Judi

My first boss when I was with Marriott used to live in Arnold. He made the drive from Arnold into Bethesda every day.
