From September 1st-4th my 2 cousins and I were at the HRH at universal, after that we went to the WL at disney. We had a great time at each place and I am doing a TR on the regular TR board but I figure i would cross-post the Universal TR in this thread too, I hope this is allowed! Hope you enjoy it!
We arrived at the hard rock at around 10AM and were just blown away by the exterior, it was so nice looking!! We couldnt believe we were finally here. I decided to splurge and park the car valet and we had our first instance of HRH excellence. The valet guy!! Of all people! He immediately came to help us, asked if it was our first time, and just had a short conversation with us about the hard rock and where we can find some things. He was great. He took our luggage minus the two laptop cases, and told us that check in would leave it in a safety deposit box if the room wasn’t ready because he didn’t want us to take the chance they would drop.
We walked into the hotel lobby and were blown away some more! What a georgeous lobby! The music in the background got us tapping our feet, but wasn’t loud enough to be a nuisance, great!
This is when I realized I left my phone in the car. My $600 iPhone. I walked back outside up to the guy who was helping us and told him the situation, he assured me he would send someone to go get it. Still worried, I walked back inside. We walked right up to check-in (no line -- sweet!) and were told our room was ready! Yay! We were on the second floor, which meant we would have to go down a floor because the lobby was on the third. She motioned for bell services, and I asked him to wait so I could go get my phone. With a generous smile, he happily obliged and told me he would wait right by the door.
I walked outside to valet and sure enough he had my phone! I thanked him tremendously, and walked back in! Hooray! Even though I got the phone for free, its still a phone, and an iPhone at that!! I’m known for misplacing things and I had a feeling it was going to be a long vacation of “wheres my ___ Oh no i left it!!” Michael and Kara were waiting inside, but the bell man had dissapeared on us. No worries, there were two stranded men from bell services right near our luggage and one of them replaced him shortly. As we walked to our room, the guy excidetly welcomed us to the hotel, asked where we were from, how long we were staying, he was so nice!! So far not one person we had encountered was unhappy or had anything less than a frown on their faces, the hard rock was shaping up to be a great experience!
We walked into the room, and instantly fell in love.
The theme of music is carried out greatly in the rooms themselves. Black and white framed photos of the beatles,
a throw pillow that says “sweet dreams are made of this...”
It was great. After sifting through the paperwork Michael had received I realized we didn’t get our free Wet n Wild tickets, but no worries, I would go check out the situation later. Okay people, we weren’t there to oogle the room (there would be more for that later!) We were there to have fun! Off to the park we go! First stop: Universal Studios!
We needed to get the the first floor, but I had to stop at check in for the wet n wild tickets, so we headed to the third floor first. Michael and Kara went into the hard rock shop while I walked over to the front desk. The line for check-in was really long, so i decided to try my luck at concierge. Well ,the way the hard rock has it set up, concierge is broken down into 3 or 4 different sections..attraction tickets, transportation, etc..i didnt really know where to go, and there wasnt a line or anything so i just sort of stood between 2 of them and waited for the person ahead of me to be done. Well...some woman from a different country decided that her issue was far more severe than mine (and obviously she was paying more than me, right?) so she just walked right up to them ignoring me, and stated her claim. I have no damn clue what her deal is, something about tickets, and using them prematurely, but there was nothing guest services could do, because she had used them for admission...?? Whatever, all I know is here I am standing here, with guest services going “theres nothing we can do, i’m sorry” as many times and as politely as humanly allowed, and i’m standing there halfway singing “get the party started” because thats what they were playing in the hotel at the time, and halfway going “COME ON!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!” About 5 minutes into the situation a nice man approaches me and asks if there is anything he can do. I told him the situation, and he apologized but only the front desk can take care of that, he shows me what the voucher looks like in case I had recieved it, and apologized again for making me wait for nothing. I don’t know if he hypnotized me with his hard rock vodoo but I walked away like “okay, well thanks! i’ll try later when the line is shorter!” and caught up with Michael and Kara who were too excited about the hard rock gift shop, i’d have to take a look later, we had a park to get to!
Sorry to make it short folks, but I haven't really slept since i've been home and its time for bed, i'll post some more tomorrow and saturday before i leave for california on sunday!
