Sept 1 2012 disney fantasy

What night are the formal nights and what is "appropriate" attire? <---for adults as well as kids.
Anyone know which characters we should be expecting to meet and greet on this trip? I usually make my daughter special outfits for each of her favs.

From reading the main board discussions about formal wear, anything goes. Some wear tuxes and ball gowns and others are in nice dress pants and shirts or less. It's what you are comfortable with.

Our formal night is Sunday, Pirate night Wednesday, and semi-formal is Thursday.

Here is a link to the Navigators for a recent Western Caribbean cruise. It lists the character meets and times during each day. You can expect our cruise to be similar.

I know how late I am in joining this discussion... life has been severely crazy lately. I am interested in hearing from veteran cruise-goers what your recommendations are while in port for a a 5 yo who would love to do some of the bigger excursions, yet falls short of Disney's age requirements.

You could book direct.... Many times they are less strict about age

Just checked NHC website for Joyce. She should be hitting Bermuda late Monday. So all "should" be good for our cruise. There is a low just off Africa, but that shouldn't be a problem either.

Main page of DCL website states they do not anticipate any itinerary changes to any of the upcoming cruises (only posted up to the one leaving on the 29th).

Formal/semi-formal nights - I have worn black pants with a nice top and I have worn a nice dress.

other nights - I usually wear black pants with a top - much like I wear to work. Think I will be wearing more dresses this trip though.

I did get approval for my electrical stim machine (I have an H-Wave). No paperwork needed but have to carry it on along with documentation of what it does. Just glad I don't have to jump through hoops.

As far as the attire for formal night- after 11 Disney cruises I've seen it all...from people wearing jeans to tuxes and gowns. Personally I fit somewhere in the middle (dressy, but not too dressy) and I will be wearing a little black dress on formal night. I'm packing 4 dresses, 2 skirts and different tops that I can interchange with the skirts. I'm trying really hard not to over pack. I always say I'm not going to over pack, and ALWAYS do...even when I remove things from my luggage!

One week from today we start our travels to this cruise!

We are staying at the Hilton and using transfers to get to the port. We'll see you all there!

Yep. I just figured it was easier ;)

Good news....Orlando seems to now be out of the "cone projection" of Isaac. And, Joyce has been downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression. Still looks like it will be a non issue for our cruise.

So glad the weather looks like it may cooperate. Question for all of the veteran cruisers---- would it be wise to pack jeans? We have started to pack and it just looks like so much stuff......

We have been going back and forth on this here. I don't think I would wear them. Even hubby says if he is going to change after dinner he'd probably just put his shorts back on .... Or leave his khaki pants on.

It may not be a bad idea to bring a pair of jeans/pants - it does get cold in the theaters, clubs, etc. if you are someone who gets cold easily it may be worth bringing a pair of pants and definitely a sweater.

Okay, if there is room they go in, if not, one of my dress pants will have to work:)

Thanks for the input.

How many bags are you bringing? I know they say 2 checked bags, but does everyone really do that? Also, do a lot of people bring carry ons? I know we will be brining carry ons--- for beverages and suits for pool.

I'm bringing 1 checked bag and my mom is bringing 1 checked bag. I'll use a carry on for my camera, iPad, etc.

Funny thing is I'm noticing that I pack less traveling with my mom than I do when I travel with my DH....he brings way too much!

We usually have one checked bag per person (4 of us) and I carry a medium-sized carry on with swim suits, sunscreen, passports...oh, and whatever last-minute forgotten items we throw in on the way out the door (we drive over from East Orlando).

Soo not sure where we are staying when we get in on the 31st lol my dh booked us I know it's close to MCO we are taking the service that the disboards sponsor. WOO HOO! Only 6 days for me too!!! I'm getting soooo excited! We have to leave our house at 3:45-ish A.M. On Thursday morning for our 6:00 a.m. flight! If it were for anything else I'd not be happy, but the earlier I get to Disney the better! my moms not thrilled, she wouldn't have minded a little later of a flight. But I just want to get there ASAP! Not going to do the "official packing" until Tuesday or Wed. Just trying to get everything organized for right now.
