My friend reserved me a studio (non HH) at OKW for 7 days using his points. I wanted eight days but he needed the points for his vacation. I currently have a reservation at POFQ for my first day. I really don't want to have to move on my first morning at WDW. I was thinking of renting points from David's Disney Vacation Club rental for the same room type on the first day. If I do this, do you think I will be able to stay in that room for my other seven days or will they make me move to another room?

You would need the two owners to link the two reservations. Or you could ask the front desk when you check in if you are blocked into the same villa. Both reservations need to be titled exactly the same. You would have to check out and check back in again even if they were linked.

We've had this issue in the past even with linked reservations. Although room assigners are different, most resorts start assigning rooms a few days out. It's entirely possible you'd be able to stay in the same room. However, you can optimize your chances by moving your current reservation to the first seven days and then adding the one night rental for last day. Provide this information at check in and the room assigner will be able to assign the room right then. You will still need to stop at the desk and check out and check in for the last night.

Once you have the rental from David's, have both members place a "Travel with" notice on each reseravtion of the other reservation number.

David used to have a two night minimum to rent, but now I don't see it on his website anymore. Has that changed? I hope so - would be helpful to rent one night when we are short on points.

I have a night at POFQ booked now. If it is a two night minimum, I will keep my current plans. I will let you know if end up booking it.

Make sure the two reservation are for the exact booking category. For OKW that means one reservation can't be for the Hospitality House area and the other not HH area. Both categories cost the same number of points. If you go through a broker, be sure to specify what you need to match.

Remember, an owner can also purchase from MS, up to 24 points, for $15/point. If there is still availability, why not ask your friend to make a call, purchase the points for you (you pay him) and then it will be one reservation...as long as you are within 7 months of a vacation, and your friend has not purchased any in the current UY, its an option. It may be a little more than renting from someone else, but having one reservation without having to deal with different owners would be worth it!

Good luck!

What is MS?

Member Services. They are the ones that you call to book reservations and do things related to the membership. Your friend would just need to give them a call and see if this is an option, providing they are interested in trying that for you!!

Okay, Thank You. I will ask him

My friend called MS and it is an option. The only problem is he is waiting for the 7 month mark at Aulani. He is worried that if the standard rooms are gone, he may need the rest of his points and have to buy some from MS. If he can get a standard room, he would be able get me my extra day at OKW. His 7 month mark is about a month away. I am going to OKW during the third week of July. We checked the website yesterday and the only day with no availability (non HH) is the fourth of July. At this point, I am going to wait to see of he will be able to extend my stay with his points. As a precaution, we are going to check the website periodically and if it looks like the studios are filling up, I will try to link up my current reservation with one from David's Disney Club Vacation Rental.

I ended up calling WDW today and changing my extra day at POFQ to a Studio at OKW. With the summer discount, it is about the same price as renting points through David's. She noted my DVC reservation number on my reservation. If my friend ends up with extra points after he books Aluani, I will see if he can add me. If not, I will just keep what I have.
