Separate check ins

I'm going to WDW in January and I'll share a studio with a friend at OKW.
We are international guests so we'll get our MBs at the resort.
We will arrive at the resort at different times, I'll be there in the afternoon, check in and go to DHS, he'll arrive at the resort while I'll be at the park.
Is it possible for me to check in and take only my MB so he can take his MB to enter the room while I'm away?

They'll probably make you check in for the entire group, however, it is possible to leave a package for someone at the front desk. If they're not able to hold onto his MB and check him in separate, ask for an envelope and leave his MB at the desk in that.
