Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

Does anyone know if schedules have been posted for our sailing for what time we arrive at Nassau and what time is all aboard when we leave Nassau? We are looking at other options for our day there (outside of DCL excursions) and want to make sure it would work without us getting left behind.

I thought the itinerary gave all that info. Go into your reservation on the DCL website. It should be there. I would look but just checking in before I head out.

I think one was a Disney outlet and the other called the Character store or something. One is at Vineyard or Vines outlet. Something like that. I've heard 1 is dirty (like not clean), but can't remember which one had better prices. I need to write down the address for the one that is still open. I don't think the other one is going to open back up until October or something. I'll post the correct details once I find them :yay:

Character Warehouse - Premium Outlets locate on Vineland Rd., located right outside the Food Court

Hello All, I just wanted to say that my wife and I will be on this cruise. We are a retired couple and we live in South Florida, about 170 miles from the port. We like to bring our granddaughters to Disney but this time the schools will be open and we will be by ourselves. We are also Disney all the way: Disney World annual pass holders, DVC (Disney Vacation Club) members and Platinum Castaway Club members. We will be driving directly from home to the port but, after the cruise disembarks on Friday, we will spend the afternoon in Epcot and Friday night at a DVC villa before returning home on Saturday. We were surprised to see 179 pages of posts for this cruise; we will be on a 4-night Royal Caribbean cruise before this cruise (on August 17) and there are only 4 pages (on Cruise Critic) for that cruise. --Dave and Jackie

:welcome: This is a pretty great group!! I'm surprised it's only at 179. Things have been a little quiet the last week or so. I think kids starting school, and trying to get things organized has everyone pretty busy!!

We are DVC and annual pass holders also, but this is our first cruise ever, Disney or otherwise. Where are you staying after the cruise?? We have a 2 bedroom Boardwalk view the 11th-13th, and will be at Epcot on the 11th also. It would be so nice to live so close!! I can't wait until we are FL residents!! Only nine more years (Not that I'm counting,)

Thank you! The September 7 cruise will be our 38th and our 14th on Disney. We have been multiple times on all four Disney ships. You will love the Dream; it is a great ship and, like all the Disney ships, in immaculate condition. We love the shows but, of course, we have already seen them all. First time cruisers like you will appreciate the shows even more. The same holds for the unique Animator's Palate restaurant, which is also theater. After the cruise, we will be in a 1 BR Beach Club Villa and so right across the lagoon from you. We will be there only the one night and we do many of those short visits. Our next will be on August 21 after our RCCL cruise. We do love being Florida residents and it makes the short visits to WDW and the short 3 and 4-night cruises practical. However, the downside is that during August-October, we have to keep an eye on the tropics. However, there have been no Tropical Storms for the last couple of years or so far this year. We just hope it stays that way!

I just wanted to let everyone that is going to the parks either before or after the cruise know that some of the park hours have had changes this past week. there were some 2nd Fantasmic and Electrical Parades added also. Josh just posted it a few days ago on easywdw.

Thank you Amanda! I was holding my breath until I saw electric parade is still on the schedule. It's my most favorite memory as a kid. We even had the record we could play at home. The good ole days

:welcome:Welcome to the group Dave and Jackie!!! I think you may be our only Platinum members!!! I agree with Amanda.....I think it has been quiet on here because of school starting and last minute cruise prep stuff. We have had to get 2 kids set up at 2 different colleges in the last week, plus we have started school for the 2 little ones and it is a lot of work for me. I am sure it will pick back up, once things get settled and the cruise excitement gets even more uncontrollable!!! We have A LOT of newbies on this cruise (myself included!) so our excitement level is pretty high :yay:

Random questions:
- should we pack reusable cups??
- "sea bands" vs Dramamine for motion sickness?
- how many bottles of sunscreen??
- coke zero on board??

Thank you!!! I'm sure more questions will come up as the time gets closer...

That's what I saw as well. We normally open and close the park. We can not hang with that this time! I bet the rides are awesome at night with no lines!

Our plan is to go for opening, stay until we have to go to our Narcoossees reservation via boat, then if not too tired, head back in after dinner for a while. I have osteoarthritis in my knees (both) so it's always hard to say how I'll do, but I'm just as happy sitting on mainstreet in the dark looking at all the lights. SO maybe we will at least get some of the night time fun?

-I went back and forth on packing reusable cups since there are 12oz cups at the drink stations. I was going to just pack larger cups for Jake and I, but now I'm packing our Tervis cups for all of us and a drink carrier. I kept hearing different reports about whether or not there are lids for the provided cups and then I heard that their straws are recycled paper. So I decided to just pack their cups with those awesome lids instead of trying to explain to my kids why their straws are different or worry about lidless cups in our room.

-We bought Sea Bands and Dramamine. I'm hoping we don't need any, but better safe than sorry.

-I'm bringing a regular bottle of sunscreen for the five of us and a little travel one for my purse while we are in Nassau (or wherever).

-They have Coke products but I didn't see Coke Zero in the pictures I've see of the drink stations.

We are bringing insulated cups for everyone, mainly so the drinks will stay cold longer.
We will probably bring both sea bands and Dramamine.
We will have a small tube of face suntan lotion a bottle of baby suntan lotion and two cans of spray suntan lotion.(probably overkill but that's how we roll.)
And I don't think there is coke zero... Or dr pepper... Or regular lemonade :guilty:. The pics I saw of the drink stations looked kind of lacking in the variety department.

On Saturday, they added an additional Fantasmic show at Hollywood Studios. There will now be a show at 8:30 and 10. Sunday they extended Animal Kingdom hours to 6, and added a second Fantasmic. There was actually already two Light parades both Saturday and Sunday, I was reading Monday. Just as a hint, the 11pm Light Parade is much less crowded.

12am is nothing! Saturday it's open until 2am!! Terry will probably head back to the room by midnight, but the kids and I close the park down. We are able to ride every ride in the park with those extended hours. By 2 am there are areas that you see no people. We absolutely love it. It is a tradition for us to get on Splash at 5 til closing!! We even did it one night when it was in the 30's temp wise!!

We are going to Animal Kingdom on Sunday so this helped us. I switched our Yak and Yeti reservation to 5:45, so we eat at the end of the day and walk out after close when the park is empty :)

Second time I have woken up in the middle of the night from a nightmare that I forgot everything, missed the boat and I messed up the whole trip. I don't know if its because it's on a boat and I just can't run to the store if I forgot anything, all the costumes to get ready, that hubby's Aunt is the one backing it and I had to plan everything by myself (what if she doesn't have fun?) or what but this trip has me seriously stressed out.

Let's talk about motion sickness. I got the script for scopolamine patches, but after hearing about the withdrawl horror stories after removing them I am terrified. Not just for me, but for my daughter. I have taken meclazine (Bonine) before for vertigo and it knocks me out for about 3 days (not an exaggeration). I am suddenly really afraid that our cruise is going to be ruined either by motion sickness or the meds. :crazy2:
Anyone use anything besides the patches or Bonine that works for them?
