Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

Anyone have Monster High fans in their house? I have extra Monster High goodies from Lyla's upcoming party and thought they'd be great FE/Pixie Dust if anyone likes them.

Question....is everyone staying at the Disney resorts taking the shuttle or renting a car to the port?

We are using Disney transport. For the four of us round trip from resort to port and back to resort is $280. I got about five quotes and the cheapest was $295. On top of that you need to tip and that's another $60. So it ended up being $75 more. A couple extra hours was not worth the extra money to me. My husband likes the convenience of not having to drive and I like the convenience of not dealing with bags. The only down side is that you get there a little later than others, but you also get right onboard with no waiting in the terminal. I have heard some people have gotten there as early as 11:30 and some as late as 1:30

Everyone is so quiet tonight. Guess I'll just call it a night :genie:

I was thinking the same thing :) I didn't have anything much to say though. I'm researching restaurants for my February trip. I get to try places that I want to go to! I won't have any picky people with me. My 180 day will be here before I know it!

I did remember I always want to try get a churro at WDW, and the Frontierland Churro Cart will be close to our meeting place on Saturday. Now I have to decide...Churro or Dole Whip? I really want a sleepy hollow waffle sandwich, but that's too much before we go to Ohana that night.

We were going to use Disney's transportation but after reading all the comments on how late it sometimes gets in and how quick the character tickets run out, we decided to go with a guy that was suggested on the "other site". He quoted 155 for the 6 of us.

It's so interesting hearing everyone talk about the food at Disney, making reservations, etc. A friend of mine at work will be at Disney same time we're there and while we're on the cruise. She's been stressing about all of the food reservations and talking non stop about it. She is planning each day around every meal. We plan around the shows, parades, etc.

I've been to Disney twice as an adult and never heard of any of these restaurants or made any reservations. We just show up at the park and just eat what's convenient when we're hungry.

Question on the Dole Whip - does it takes like the Dole Whip at the Dole Plantation in Hawaii?

We plan around dining reservations too, but there's not really a parade, show, etc. that can't be worked around dining. I'll be honest too, we haven't planned for a daytime parade in the last 4 years. If we happen to be heading somewhere and the parade gets in our way, we stop and watch it, lol! The restaurants are part of the trip for us.

Not sure if the Dole Whips are like the ones in Hawaii, as we aren't doing Aulani for a few years yet. Most people say yes it is.

That's how we did it last time we went but now we have the free dining plan that includes a table service. The table service meals I was told you have to make reservations for. Which I didn't know until about 3 weeks ago and so we have some good times and some really crappy times. I was surprised that even the resort table service restaurant booked up and is one that I check every day to try to move.

I looove food. Period. I am not going to lie, I was up at 5 am at the 180 day mark to make my ressies. We have the dining plan, and although I got it free, I still want to get everything out of it that I can. There are some restaurants that you simply can't just walk into day of and eat, and I want to eat at the park and resorts. I was determined to get BOG at lunch because it is just a QS credit, and we will still get the experience of eating there. It seems like all the counter service restaurants are burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, etc......I don't want to spend 5 days eating that every meal (don't get me wrong.....I love me some burgers and fries!)and since we have the DP it would be wasting free food to leave the property.
I am a little crazy over the food thing. I even have my snacks planned out! LOL!! We just have dinners reserved, so we don't really have to plan our day around them. However, we do have to plan them around our fast passes!! My daughter turned a cartwheel when I told her we got them for Anna and Elsa and Seven Dwarfs mine train!

You guys may have talked me into getting different transport, at least to the boat. Ugh! I don't know what to do!! The only must see character on the boat is Anna and Elsa so we don't have to use a FP for it. Guess I'll go to the over there and ask some questions, lol

For us this trip is more about the overall experience than the food. It has been totally planned around our son so I set out to pick restaurants I thought he would enjoy the most-Tusker House and Ohana character breakfasts, Sanaa to watch the animals, T-Rex for the dinosaurs, etc. We enjoy food and wine so I'm not going into this trip expecting exceptional meals (but maybe I'll be surprised!) but instead I wanted to make sure that the dining experiences were fun and memorable from the character/environment stand point and just enjoy it for what it is :) We also wanted to pack in as much as we can b/c we really don't know if/when we will take him again. Too many destinations on our list to travel to and only so much money/vacation time to go around!

I guess I'll have to step in as Kristoff with Anna and Elsa. LOL. Wouldn't that be cool to go behind the scene's of the cruise ship?

Just ordered a couple shirts for me and Carly for the trip. We each got a Dole Whip tee and I got a 4 parks 1 home tee all from TEE PUBLIC. Love the Chip and Co t shirt options. There is a sale going on for about 34 more hours :)

Now I need to place my Disney Store order :thumbsup2

Me too I love food, Sometimes I like going to places just for the food. Like last year we went to Hershey Pa. for a short vacation. Kids loved the rides I loves the candy store. We also found this excellent Italian restaurant called Bella's ah it was so go I have thought about just driving the 7 hours just to eat there. As you can tell I have eaten at a lot of Disney's restaurants. I love the ideal of going without kids so I can eat at the more elegant restaurants. I just cant see myself not ever taking them. I think it would break both of hearts.

This is why I am looking forward to my birthday!! My restaurant list is a mile long!!! There are so many places they won't eat at,that I want to try. Especially at DTD and Epcot!! And I will feel not an ounce of guilt, lol :) That's not to say I won't miss them though. They will be taking friends in June anyway.

Do you have ressies at Palo or Remy? Have you eaten there before? I love the kid-free dining too!

You guys, I get nothing done at work because I am constantly checking this page. Ahhh I need this cruise to get here already. My teenager teases me that I know more about Disney cruises than anyone else on the planet (which is SO not true but its not for lack of trying) lol.
