Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

I am obsessively excited- meaning, I research everything Disney cruise every change I get, and stalk these boards for any tidbit of new info.:cheer2:

This is our first cruise, so I don't really know what to expect for embarkation day, so I will go with whatever time for the meet and greet. I know we will want to check out the Edge and Vibe because I'm sure our kids will be spending a lot of time there. We have first seating for dinner. Since we are in mountain time zone, the late seating was just toooo late for us.

My wife thinks I'm the same way. NUTS. I know my wife is counting down the days until it's over. Her nick name is "the scrooge"

LOL Her and my DH Chad will fit right in he says he is just glad we are happy :) Let me tell ya I miss Ohio! I grew up in Blanchester before we moved to Monroe and relocated this past summer to Charlotte. Kinda weird seeing Chillicothe :)

I am right there with you, Cindy. It is our very first cruise also. I read as much as possible so I would know what to expect. I was in Disney overload for 3 months solid when deciding on the trip. :crazy2:

As of now I would say for us our vote is after the sail away party. Just because we don't know what time everyone is going to be on the ship and then you have the pumpkin test right before the sail away part. That should give us enough time between the party and first seating for dinner (for whom ever has it). Maybe we'll know more after everyone gets registered online and pick our times to arrive then we can go from there. So far who has first seating for dinners? I thought at one time if families wanted to sit by other families we could make a request to DCL???
I was thinking after the sail might be nice for the same reason. Also, we are doing the first seating, our kids are usually ready for supper at 5:30, 6:00.

Please share any new information that you feel might be helpful to us too. :thumbsup2

Yes we were always at KI :thumbsup2

We are going to dress up (well I am going to make him a shirt and tell him to participate). I seen this super easy adult costume that will work for him its just cutting jagged triangles around the neck, arms and bottom of the shirt add a sash, bandanna and eye patch. Not to flashy which is more his style pirate:

My wife doesn't want to dress up either:confused3. She said other adults won't dress up. "Its for kids"(she's never been on a Disney Cruise before) We'll hit the garage sales this summer and find something or just go to Party City. She loves to dance and I don't so I can hide and nobody will recognize me. :rotfl2: You must be crafty:thumbsup2 are you going to make your own fish extender too?

Crafty :rotfl2: I can cut, tape and glue but I have a mother and mother-in-law who are very crafty that I am going to try and rope into making my FE. My mom is coming to visit in April and June so I usually have her bring her sewing machine as for me the creativity gene skipped me!

Me I am totally dressing up! Chad's idea of a costume this year for the Halloween party was being Sheldon wearing a flash t shirt and khakis. So that's why I figured a plain white t shirt cut with a sash around it would be about as far as I can get him to go. Never thought of garage sales this summer good idea!

I was listening to one of the dis unplugged podcast about disney cruises, and they said thereare some adults who will be in costumes so elaborate that they had to have had a suitcase just for that night! Of course we will be piecing ours together from old Halloween costumes... we got time to figure it out!

Are anyone else's pre- and post-cruise plans changing by the day, this far out? We *thought* we knew what we wanted to do but we have changed our hotel ressies twice and our plans 3 times. The current winner is: 3 days of universal park to park tickets. We'll fly in Friday night, spend Sat and Sun at US/IOA with an emphasis on HP lol and also citywalk for dinner and maybe mini golf. Then we can hit the parks one more time when we get off the ship.

We have never been to Universal at all and it is so foreign to me, while I know the Disney parks like the back of my hand, so to speak. Will we love it as much as Disney parks? I mean besides HP which I have no doubt we will love. Is there enough to do for kids 11 and up to cover 3 days at these two parks?

Sorry for the dumb questions. There are so many things I want to do in Orlando and we just keep jumping around the more we discuss and research. I want to do Discovery Cove but I think I can get my dolphin fix in Nassau, ha ha. I also want to go to the Clearwater aquarium and see Winter! Of course the Disney parks would be fun but we've been there, done that quite a few times. Tell me it's a good idea to invest all our non-cruise Florida time on the Universal parks.

Sounds like you want to spend a few weeks in Orlando. We did both Universal parks in 2 days but we had the fast track pass and it was before HP dragon Alley. I wanted to do both parks before the cruise but thought it would be too much and if it rains one of the days. :scratchin We are going to Clearwater Aquarium after the cruise :fish: and staying on the gulf coast for a few days. :beach: I understand about plans changing I'm always looking for something that might be a little better. :thumbsup2 So to answer your question I will say YES go to Universal Studio's
