My oldest son goes absolutely WILD when he comes into contact with leather. Which didn't bode well at his psychiatrists office with a leather coach. He would slide, spin, turn every which way just to have the feel of it all over him. He does the same thing with a leather like coat I have (will just rub his hands all over it and his face when he touches it).
This made me smile. I just had an image of DD12 with her now favourite blanket. On our last trip, she got sick from the Wave. A few days later when we were at MK waiting for those pesky late fairies to arrive, DH was talking with a CM about it. She felt so bad for DD that she told her to go pick out anything in the store for herself. Well, after looking through books and drawing stuff (2 things she's very into but it seems the weren't the right ones), we were getting frustrated and almost left without getting her anything (she really didn't want any kind of dolls or clothes). Well, I saw a few blankets on a far wall so we went to check them out. The feel was JUST RIGHT for her and it didn't hurt that it's her favourite colour. She quickly grabbed it and hugged it tightly and spent the rest of the day holding it close and rubbing it all over face over and over again. We've got lots of pictures with it, including with the fairies. Since then, if we're at home then she's got it wrapped around her and she sleeps with it every night. Not only is it just the perfect texture for her tactile needs, but it's a great Disney memory as well.
