ScarlettO--
I feel your pain! As I said in my first post, DH and I STRUGGLE to keep our weight down. I eat 1200 carefully chosen calories or less on most days, and we take one to three brisk walks per day (2-7 miles total), plus hikes on the weekend. We have started lifting hand weights. A work buddy and I do laps up and down a hill at lunch, and I still cannot fit into my size 12s!!!
DH is a former athlete who has had surgery on both knees and has excruciating calcium growths on the tendons in both feet. He cannot get the amount of exercise he used to and it is tough to keep weight off. I know we will never attain some people's "standards," but we refuse to give up!
My goal these days is to be healthy and fit, keep my blood values safe, and build some muscle. That is the goal of the pilot project for kids I am working on--it's not about being "model skinny" it is about nourishing, hydrating and moving your body.
Heck, I knew a thin-as-a-rail woman who had the worst clogged arteries and died of a heart attack.
As someone who will always struggle with weight, I have sympathy for all those who have similar weight challenges. Sadly, insulting people about their weight seems to be the last "acceptable" prejudice.
