I am overweight, and have some concernes about Castaway Cay. The floats, and water bikes, and paddle boats, do they have a weight limit? Are the floats good for someone like me, or should I bring something from home and use it in the water?

and yes, I am working on loosing more weight before I go, but I have a long way to go.

I don't know how overweight you are but I really would not worry about it. I saw MANY large people enjoying the floats etc. I weighed over 200 pounds on our first cruise (have lost 50 pounds now) and I did not feel out of place,, water is a great forgiver when it comes to mass, I would think it would support anyone as long as you were not like 1000 pounds.

Salt Water gives helps you float. The floats at CC are very nice. I was on one most of the time on our last trip there and I am a larger person. Don't know about the tubes or any of the other "toys" you mentioned - but the floats will work great.

I can understand your concerns, but always remember to lose weight for the right reasons (Health!) and love the person you are regardless of your size.

Best wishes on your continued success!

PRINCESS VIJA - I believe it's actually a displacement limit. You will float as soon as you have "displaced" an equivalent volume of water. If you stretch out, you will float. If you curl up and make your body surface small, you will sink. Buoyancy, unlike sex (so "they" say), is a size thing... lol. Don't fret. Work your Dis Wish. Enjoy YOUR cruise.

ohhhhhh our wonderful BD shows his sensitive side again :)
gotta love ya BD

CC is one place on earth that no one worries about your size or shape. Everyone is too busy enjoying life and having a wonderful time! The floats and tubes are sizeable and I think you will really enjoy. We sure did!!

You'll be fine. Don't worry. People of all sizes were using the floats and tubes along with the water bikes. No matter what your size though there is a trick to geting onto the floats. Put your bikeside in the middle of the float, lean back and use your arms quickly to adjust your body. It took my family a while to figure it out and it was quite amusing. Just have fun.

You know years ago my own mother made fun of my size, she being a petite 5'2" and just breaking 100 lbs. I happen to take after my father and am 5'8" and am a Size XL. It use to bother me what other people thought when I went anywhere, but I have learned that I am a much bigger person all the way around (no pun intended :Pinkbounc ) I also learned that God made me the way I am so that my very BIG GENEROUS HEART could fit in my body! I too am working on my weight but will not let that stop me from enjoying myself and if I hop on a float and it pops from under me and everyone laughed, I would just laugh along with them now. Just say to yourself, I am going to relax and enjoy myself and not worry about what anyone else thinks! Enjoy your cruise and good luck with getting healthier!! Our hearts will thank us!!

That was the most beautiful reply I've ever heard - thank you for writing this and touching all our hearts - you are one special lady!

To reassure you, I am not a Barbie doll type either although often feel surrounded at the neighborhood pool and also at parent events at the kids' school. I was shocked and thrilled to see that the MAJORITY of people on my cruise were of varied shapes and sizes - very FEW perfect hair, perfect body types (not that there is anything wrong with that). I felt as though I fit right in!

PS - Loved the blue float, couldn't figure out why I would want a clear tube - they are pretty large and really held you out of the water.

well i am glad to hear all this. i too fight with my size .. my father always asks me what size TENT i wear now my poor dd 15 gets so sad when he says that To me .. but ya know this is me big or little and i love me. my dh side is all about a size 2 and mil always lets me know well maby you will be skinny for your next cruise since your not for this one.in sept... i plan on floating and swimming and having a great time .. thanks for sharing !! its a very possitive up lifting post thanks ºoº

Just remember that a person who is a size 6 may not be happy with the way they look. They may have an eating disorder or they may think that their legs are too big. Or, they may pass really smelly gas. I know one girl who has a great body but she always has bad breath because of what she eats. Everyone has something.

You can be strong and healthy and beautiful, and you don't have to be a size 7 to be all those things. Don't miss out on something because of what you "think" you look like. Everyone is too busy looking at themselves to be looking at you. Relax, enjoy and free yourself.

What a pity our society feels that a person's size is the value of their worth.

We need to change that, ladies and gentlemen! We might not be what some consider "the perfect body" but we can become better people and happy within ourselves!

Now isn't that nicer than what I was thinking!!!!!!!!!!

Vija, my beautiful Latvian princess, you'll feel very comfortable on a blue float at Castaway Cay.

The only problem is that you will not want to leave the island!

I didn't pay much attention to the water bikes or paddle boats, but I spent several happy hours comfortably lounging on one of Disney's floats. You will have no problem.

Kathy's travel hint for the day: pack as lightly as possible, relax and enjoy!

And the other comments are right: you'll see people of every possible body size and configuration on your cruise. Nobody looks out of place!

(On the island, be sure to try the Conch Cooler! And take lots of pictures to share with your friends when you get back here!)

everyone is too busy having fun and enjoying the breathtaking island to worry about someone's size.

I am pooh sized and I floated part of the day away on the blue floats after snorkeling the rest of the time.

enjoy.......

I wear size 20-22 and went on a cruise to Mexico with my sister size 8, she would NOT wear a bathing suit and go to the pool with me, becasue she said she it too FAT. LOL, I told her you have had a kid are turning 28 and will never be size 2 again deal with it. I think she missed out on some great pool time. I was out there in my leopard bathing suit having a blast, no one even looked my way.....

I am also a larger person & I didn't feel out of place on the ship or at Castaway Cay. There was one thing I didn't like about Disney's floats. The floats were clear. So I personally chose not to "sit" in the float as to draw attention to my "derriere", otherwise they were great.
