i have sensitive ears and never ever see the fireworks show because it bothers my ears way to much and even thunderstorms hurt my ears and this year i really want to see the fireworks show (Fantasmic etc) because i either have been there but went inside a ride to not hear the fireworks or we just don't stay around and ive heard how cool they are and stuff and i really want to but im afraid ill not be able to stand it and like will have to leave. Im thinking of wearing ear plugs or something. Does anyone have sensitive ears? and if so what do you do? thanx for the help!

We always bring a few pairs of ear plugs with us to WDW. My daughter just can not tolerate the "loudness" of the shows. The ear plugs work great!! When we were surveyed at WDW, I told the CM that I had heard alot of complaints about the noise level of their shows. I'm not talking about "outside" shows or fireworks but like the Little Mermaid show, it is just too loud. I would definately take the ear plugs.

the little mermaid show was very loud i had to get use to it by going on it 5 times but i will bring the ear plugs i remember when i was little i had some and i was soo embarresed because all these people were looking at me strangly because i had ear plugs but if they work who cares!

If the ear plugs are too uncomfortable, try some lambs wool. Also works great for fan and AC wind if your ears are sensitive to cold breezes. Should find it at any drug store.

My 2 yr old has sensative ears as well. He loves to look at the fireworks but from the car. So I am not sure if we will be seeing any fireworks this trip. It would be nice but I am not the kind of parent that is going to force my child to be in pain just to catch Wishes.

I truly believe this! My ds is hard of hearing, but load noises (fireworks, balloon popping) causes him physical pain... we saw a specialist in downtown Chicago when he was very young - and learned about this...

he never goes to firework shows!! (he became a camp counselor!!) BUT at the camp they fire off a cannon, he uses the soft yellow ear plugs, he keeps them with him at all times - if he doesnt use them, he can get migraines...

You can get the soft side ear plugs at WalMart, Target... ds was given a case of these, and the box does tell how it reduces sound...

Good Luck, know you are not alone!!

My 11 yr old DS has very sensitive ears and he usually just does the old "hands over the ears" trick. For him, the piped in music in the speakers at the fireworks shows makes him crazy. He's so sensitve, he heard my ex-mother-in-law's sonic deer repellant and immediately covered his ears and started moaning about that "sound" none of us could hear. One of his most enjoyable MK Fireworks experiences was on a pontoon boat during a Wishes Cruise where we didn't have the music piped in but "parked" near a boat that did, it was the perfect level for him.
I guess I'd try ear plugs, in fact maybe I should get him some. A good ole piece of cotton ball could help filter the sound too. Good luck!

I bought 3 sets of foam earplugs at the industrial supply store when I was picking up paper products for church. They were only about a buck a pair, come in neon colors, are on a neck cord. My kids each keep a set in their fanny pack or around their necks. Only my middle one is super-sensitive, but we all think the volume needs to be turned down on the rides and in the shows. Of course, if it were turned down, others would want it louder... We just come prepared and enjoy!

wow and i thought i was the only one with sensitive ears guess not! this last trip i did the put the hands over your ears thing but it was still too loud so i had to beg my dad to come with me into stitch (which you can't hear anything) i also have a problem with airplanes my ears pop and it hurts alot like i start crying (and im 12 ) and i solved that problem with ear planes (they work really well) so hopefully ear plugs should work :teeth:
