Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

Ok I do not know what happened but somehow got unsubscribed to this report. I kept wondering why there were no updates:laughing:

I am very excited for the reopening of Star Tours also. We will probably be at DHS on 5/25:yay:.

And do not even get me started on M&M's! My absolute favorite candy EVER!! I usually do not even buy them now because I cannot stop eating them once I start.

That's so funny about Charles saying no to New Orleans. Hey will be be at POFQ. That is probably the closest we will get to New Orleans.

Finally caught up! That is really great that you will have a chance to do all those Dismeets while you are down there!:goodvibes

Getting so close now...isn't it?:)

Oh, and, he's a good guy :thumbsup2

By the expression on his face, I really couldn't tell. :upsidedow

MeMom, PEANUT BUTTER M & Ms.... WAY good.... :thumbsup2

Total coincidence, but I had them today! Before I read this.
We must have ESPN, huh? ;)

I was getting the girls some Easter stuff, and I had to get "m's". I saw that they also had peanut butter and coconut, so for 48 cents a bag, I decided to get one of each. I ate the peanut butter ones in the car while I was out doing errands, and you are right - they are gooood!

I'm so excited about the new and improved Star Tours! I wondering about the lines. I have a feeling TSM wont be as crowded once Star Tours reopens.

I do think the new Star Tours will alleviate some of the mad dash to TSM -- the thing about TSM, though, is that everyone can ride it, so I imagine it will still be crazy busy!

Great update! Loved all the info on Star Tours. It will undoubtedly be amazing. When you think about the progress technology, etc. has made, they can do so much more... And I agree with Michelle, you have some amazing memorabilia!

It's going to be neat to see what they end up doing with the ride.

So "no" to New Orleans, huh??!! Well I am sure that is partly because it would require a whole new phase of planning, and at this point I bet Charles is relieved to know he "knows" his vacation destination!!! New Orleans has a lot of character. You know, you could ALWAYS get him to go to DisneyLAND, and then you can get a taste of NOLA as well as Disney... HA! BUT sadly the food and beverages would NOT be the same!!! I never ate so well...

I have to admit, New Orleans has some of the best food we have ever eaten! Disney is right up there for us, too, though. :goodvibes

Michelle, keeping your eyes closed MIGHT also make you more queasy btw.... I have heard if you sit in the middle, and you stare straight ahead and keep your eyes focused on what is happening, you may actually be less ill, because your eyes and brain are "communicating" -- when I have read accounts of sea sick, etc., they say it is because your body cannot place the motion it feels to what it "sees" and so it causes havoc with your sensory system. I know I always panic that I will be nauseous when I ride any motion ride, but if I stare straight ahead and hold on!!! I do fine on Star Tours! But I still will NOT ride Mission to Mars.... :scared1:

On a related note, I always keep my eyes closed on roller coasters. LOL!

Wow, you have a lot of nice Star Tours things! I have yet to ride Star Tours...maybe this year will be the year. DS is adamently against it. Tom and I are hoping things will change this year. Jeremy (DS) keeps saying that is going to do Tower of Terror and Haunted Mansion so we are keeping our fingers crossed! Is Star Tours a motion ride--I would assume?

It is -- it is a motion simulator, though, so I don't think it is nearly as bad as riding a roller coaster.

I would have been afraid to mention another location to my DH. He would have jumped on going back to New Orleans! Love Cafe Du Monde! So glad you had a nice family meal out together.

Erika

Cafe du Monde was one of my favorite places on our New Orleans trip.

I love Star Tours, I can't wait for the new ride! I am a little sad they are replacing Rex, though. He was a cute little robot.

I agree -- Rex is a cutie -- I think I read somewhere that he would make an appearance somewhere in the ride.

that restaurant sounds fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We really want to get down to NOLA one of these days but the sun and surf won out this year, I needed to get away away!

New Orleans was always one of those places I wanted to go -- I read The Witching Hour by Anne Rice when I was in high school and fell in love with it. When Charles and I went in 2004, it was actually like I imagined it would be. One of my favorite trips!

I'm glad Happydog was able to get you the shirt, they are so cool. I wish Star Tours would re open while we are there in May but we'll see what kind of sneak peek photos we can get for you. I am absolutely loving the Conversion of Charles.

Yes, try and nab some sneak peek photos! :thumbsup2

Yep, I've heard that before but it doesn't seem to be the case with me, the actual movement of the simulator doesn't bother me, it's the visual on the screen. Watching certain scenes in movies, like the pod race in Episode I, makes me queasy and I'm just sitting still  Trust me, I like the ride so I've tried it both ways, closing my eyes during some of the scenes is much better for me. I know, I'm weird! I tried the tame side of Mission Space once, NEVER again!

I can assure you, I will never try Mission Space. No way, no how!

Hello, hello!! Believe it or not, I have just now finished reading your summer TR from Chelsea's birthday trip! :sad2: I got so far behind on all my DIS subscriptions over the holidays and it has taken me forever to get caught up again! But I enjoyed the rest of your TR so so much! It really was terrific! I am sooooo glad to hear that Charles is finally softening up and giving in on Disney. And it sounded like Chelsea had a very magical 13th birthday! She looks so growny! My goodness time flies! She looks so different from the first TR of yours that I read. She's really growing into a pretty young lady.

Hi, Rinky!!! So glad to see you on the DIS again!!! Thanks for all the compliments on Chelsea -- she has grown up a lot this year.

Anyway, I'm so glad to see that you are going again this year. Can't wait to read about your adventures. I always enjoy your writing! I do have a question for you though... how did you like CBR? We are thinking about staying there this year and I am curious about your thoughts??? Also what section were you in and did you think it was a long walk to OPR? Thanks a bunch! I'm going back now to read and find out what your plans are for this year! :thumbsup2

We loved CBR. I would have to look back to see what section we stayed in, but we were right across the bridge from Old Port Royal. It was a short and pretty walk!

Okay Jackie.....we need to totally have a "playdate" so I can come down and see the Strawberry Shortcake collection!!! Do they all still smell good?!!?!! I honestly think that was my favorite thing about them! I wish they would have just brought the old Strawberry Shortcake stuff back out when they came out with the new version........the old ones were SO much better!!!!! Gotta love that!!!

They do still smell, Jen!!! Plus, I have the bake shop, the trolley, the horse that smelled like maple syrup, and the gazebo. We could have lots of fun with them! LOL!

1. Congrats to Chelsea! Great job - I'm sure she has a very bright future!

2. I love that you have brought Charles into the light. (or over to the dark side:confused3)

3. I have always loved Star Tours! I'm excited to see the changes. We saw it at DL for the first time Dec 1989. We were amazed! DS 4 at the time thought it was real, and he was screaming "get me out of here" the whole time - Bad mommy day. :sad2:

4. It's great you have so much of the memorabilia, and fun you are re-visiting it before your trip!

Thank you! Poor DS thinking it was real! Who would have thought, though? I have always been a pack rat, so there are all sorts of "treasures" in my closet. LOL!

I know you would never trade Disney for New Orleans, but how about both! :rotfl2: I'd like to see Charles face with that suggestions.

:lmao:

Loved all the Star Wars pix. That was very nostalgic (listen to me - the rides only been closed for how many months?). Anyway - I think the new ride is going to be great and I really wish I was going to be there for the opening.

LOL! I feel like it has been closed for a long time, and we haven't even been during that time! It will be lots of fun to see what they do with it.

I'm so glad everyone enjoyed the Cajun restaurant. I do believe we have the best tasting food here.

I would have to agree with you on that! LOL!

Loved Charles' reaction to New Orleans! Disney is so much more fun and cleaner. I like to visit New Orleans but I couldn't spend a week there. We will actually be there Saturday night for a wedding. If you ever do make it back down there please let me know. We can be there in a little over an hour.

I love the French Quarter and the Garden District, but we didn't explore the other areas. It was a little daunting at night in the French Quarter. That would be fun to meet up if we make it back there!

So neat that you have kept so many mementos from you trips. I'm sure you're going to ride Star Tours more than once.

Yes, when we get there again (you'll see what I mean in my next update), we will be riding it more than once.

I have to be honest with you, I know Disney is Disney, but I am dying to go back to New Orleans! I've been there once and absolutely loved it. I can't wait to take the kids when the baby is a little bit older.

One of these days we will make it back to New Orleans because I know the kids would really enjoy it.

Love your synopsis of Star Tours then and now. I have to tell you, my husband is so excited for that ride to be revamped, he just can't wait to try it out in May, and Nemo is so excited about it as well. Should be lots of fun.

::yes::

Makes me wonder though...what do you think the line will be longer for...Star Tours or TSM?

I think TSM will still have the longer line because all ages can ride it.

No Broadway shows this time...just a lot of shopping!

I decided to save the Broadway experience til she is older, maybe for her 16th birthday?

Shopping in NYC will still be lots of fun!

I asked her about it and she was like ....:confused3...it's her day and she would rather go back to the hotel for a swim so that's the plan.
I even had to change hotels to find one with a pool.
I'm a little disapointed about not staying in Times Square but not sad about saving about $250!

Where are you staying now?

Mmmmn...I remember the smell of those vintage Strawberry Shortcake dolls.
My favorites were the Blueberry and Lemon.
Lexi had the "new" ones and they didn't have the same smells as I remembered.
She did have a cute Strawberry House though.

There was one who smelled like peaches -- she was my favorite.

Do you remember Sea Wees? I still have the entire collection. :)

Oh my goodness! Yes, I do remember Sea Wees! I loved them! There is a picture somewhere with me in a kiddie pool playing with all my little mermaids. LOL!

I was looking on a certain website today and I thought of you when I saw these

B1vPTwCGkKGrHqIOKjoEMtQo9ofBMfrDTgQ_3.jpg

Love them! I can't tell you how many times I have almost bought them! LOL!

My DD had the Cherry Merry Muffin dolls - and all her friends (at least 15-20 dolls) and accessories. They all smelled like some kind of fruit. I just gave them to my niece a few months ago. I just googled them and the prices they are asking are:scared1: Maybe I need to check to see if the old toys are worth anything before I give them away :goodvibes If I had a bigger house I could just keep everything :thumbsup2 I do know I'm hanging on to the American Girl dolls - those are my favorite!

It's amazing what toys will fetch for prices! We are holding onto all of our American Girl stuff -- between Chelsea and me we have quite the collection.

Only finding this now. I am loving your Xmas tree skirt and thinking ours needs an update! Also luv the Mickey Necklace :)

The Chocolate pie looks great! Also luvin the Hogwarts lego.. I think my nephew needs that :rotfl:

Thanks! Welcome!!!

Ahhh, I want to go there!! I was supposed to this Saturday night for a girls night with some friends of mine, but we could only get a 9 PM reservation and we all have younguns so they picked somewhere else.

OH, and WAY TO GO CHARLES!!!! LOL

You really must try Henry's, Heather! It's so much fun and the food is just unbelievably good!

Finally - there's my Star Wars connection! :woohoo:

Brooklynn and Bella love "m's", as Bella calls them.

Yep, that's my connection to Star Wars.
They like M&M's and the girls like M&M's.
And I'm related to the girls.

It's all about the candy. :)

Although, I like peanut "m's" better. ;)

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: See, we knew we would find a connection sooner or later for you and Star Wars.

Hmmmm....who did you think didn't know Admiral Snackbar.
Of course, I do.
I'm a Star Wars expert. I know the white soldiers are....

oh, shucks, what were they? (I truly forgot for a second.)

Stormtroopers.

Yeah, that was it.
And they're the bad guys.

Admiral Snackbar is a (good guy, bad guy).
Choose one.
I have a 50-50 chance to be right here. :rolleyes1

I only hope he was not one of the Star Wars guys you had a crush on, Jackie.

:rotfl2: Nope, no crush on Admiral Ackbar -- even though he is a good guy, he always creeped me out a little -- looked a little too much like a bug for my liking.

I'm a few days late but I just read your last update...I have to say that even though we're not big Star Wars fans, we're definitely excited to try out the new Star Tours! I love hearing all the details Disney releases, increasing the anticipation even more!

I wonder if the lines will be crazy long since we'll be there so shortly after it's new opening? :confused3

Hi, Kristen! I do think the lines will be long -- Fast Passes will probably be a necessity!

Admiral Snackbar :lmao: You crack me up MeMom!

Oh, and, he's a good guy :thumbsup2

::yes::

OH rats, well white nuckle I guess!!! And yes get those patches, etc. for the cruise, but I will say you really only notice it on the first night (because they are going fast to get to Nassau) and then not so much b/c the distance to CC from Nassau is "half" and the other "half" is the next night, back to PC... so I bet you won't feel it much at all!!!!

I never really thought about feeling the motion on the boat. It's so big, it doesn't seem like it would rock too much.

MeMom, PEANUT BUTTER M & Ms.... WAY good.... :thumbsup2

Anything that combines chocolate and peanut butter in my book is a winner!

Hello! It has been a while, and I'm checking in because I'm on spring break! I am done with school in 2 weeks.. and hopefully I'll have more time...

One thing that I thought was funny is that.. you started this in Dec. and I'm just not reading it.. which means I haven;t been on here since DEC! Thats over 3 months... I guess time flies when your busy. BUT while reading this today I noticed that WE are going to Disney the SAME TIME this year!! :goodvibes I have known since like last November when we were going.. but haven't had time to begin a PTR.. BUT I'm hoping to start one this week.

We are also leaving May 27th but returning on June 4th. Do you usually go to Disney during this time? Last time we went, it was in the middle of May.. and it rainedddd most of the time if you recall from my TR. We were actually going to go in the 2nd week of May again because I graduate May 7th- but we got the free dining and changed the dates.. as did you!

(I'm not sure if your dates changed or anything.. so if they have I'm sorry.. I haven't read that far!)

I hope things are good with you and your family! :)

Hi, Jen!!! We usually go to Disney during the first full week of June, so I am not sure what crowds are like that last bit of May. From what I have read, they are even a little bit lighter than what we are used to dealing with, so you should be in good shape! Free Dining will be fun to experience.

Ok I do not know what happened but somehow got unsubscribed to this report. I kept wondering why there were no updates:laughing:

I am very excited for the reopening of Star Tours also. We will probably be at DHS on 5/25:yay:.

So much fun with the new ride!!!

And do not even get me started on M&M's! My absolute favorite candy EVER!! I usually do not even buy them now because I cannot stop eating them once I start.

M&Ms are definitely up there on our list of favorite candy!

That's so funny about Charles saying no to New Orleans. Hey will be be at POFQ. That is probably the closest we will get to New Orleans.

POFQ is probably my favorite moderate! Love the jazz music that is always playing!

Finally caught up! That is really great that you will have a chance to do all those Dismeets while you are down there!:goodvibes

Getting so close now...isn't it?:)

Well...actually things have changed a bit...

By the expression on his face, I really couldn't tell. :upsidedow

It's that bug face of his! Looks like someone should get out the fly swatter. ;)

Those coconut ones are quite tasty, too!!!

The coconut and the pretzel M&M's are so yummy.

::yes::

Well, I have some disappointing news to impart this morning.

We have had to "downsize" our vacation and are not heading to Disney this summer. :(

After much teeth-gnashing and realizing I needed to be a grown-up about things, we are going to head to the beach for a week instead of Disney -- there are just too many things clamoring for our financial attention. I am planning on heading back to school this summer for my degree in Curriculum and Instruction, it's Connor's turn for braces, and there are several home improvements that should be done. So...it just seems to be the smart thing to do to take a vacation that will cost a fraction of what our Disney trip would cost.

I know we will make it back to Disney sooner rather than later -- after all, it is our favorite place, and we have been seven times in the last five years -- but what makes me saddest is missing out on meeting up with everyone. :( We were really looking forward to hanging out with everyone.

Yesterday, I made the dreaded call to cancel the trip and our dining reservations, and let me tell you, I was in a complete blue funk all day because of it. I just keep looking at the place I booked at the beach to make myself feel better. It is a darling little beach cottage that was built in the 1950's as a fishing camp -- I love historic places like that. It is right on the marshes and a ten-minute walk to the beach. We will be able to park our car and walk everywhere we want to go. Chelsea is very excited about finally getting her beach vacation -- the first one since 2006. Connor is more like me -- when we told him, his first response was, "What? No Mickey this year?" Poor kid.

Anyway, there it is -- I will be closing this PTR soon, but I will be posting all of our summer fun pictures -- beach, sand, marsh sunsets, a dolphin tour, and lots of seafood and drinks on Facebook when we go. :goodvibes

Thanks for reading everyone, and I will still be around the DIS reading everyone's PTRs and TRs -- it will be a great way for me to get my vicarious Disney fix! :goodvibes

Such a bummer about no Disney this year. It stinks being a grown up! I do hope that you have an awesome time at the beach! The little cottage sounds amazing! Hopefully next year you can make it back to see Mickey!

Sorry to hear that news Jackie! But sometimes life can get in the way & I'm sure you'll have a great beach trip.

NOoOoOoOoOoOo

So sorry you had to cancel the trip. It does stink being a grown up but Disney will always be there.

Look forward to hearing all about the beach and all the fun that will be had there.

What??????

I honestly thought you were joking at first. I know you must be so disappointed , but this just means that next summer you will have an even bigger and better and longer Disney vacation.

That is a bummer about canceling the DIS meets. Are you sure you can't sneak away for a long weekend in the beginning of May. Between the 6 of us East Meets West girls I am sure we can find you a bed? :rolleyes1 Just sayin'!

Anyway - I think the beach will be lovely and it certainly will be relaxing.

And since you are the Charleston Princess, I need lots of suggestions for my Hilton Head trip in October. My GF's and are I staying there instead of Disney. We will be taking side trips to Savannah and Charleston. None of us have been to either city before. We are total newbies! So HELP!

So sorry Jackie  Being a grown-up sucks sometimes!!

thanks for sharing with us, it was a fun ride and I learned a lot!!

Sorry Jackie.
Having to make adult decisions aren't always fun.
I'm sure you'll be back at Disney in no time!
Looking forward to hearing about your beach vacation.

Awww, Jackie, I'm so sorry. I am looking forward to following along on your beach trip on Facebook -- the cottage you are staying at sounds right up my alley, too. :goodvibes

Sorry Jackie!
It can be tough being an adult!
When I realized that Disney was just not a financially feasible trip for us this year (DH is back in school for his Master's in Music Ed) I decided to enter every Disney Sweepstakes I could find. I started entering in August and this January I actually won!!!! Obviously, the the odds are low but it can help with the Disney dreaming. Mousesavers.com keeps a list of all Disney sweepstakes.

In the meantime, think of relaxing on a beautiful beach without the sea of humanity!

Thanks! Yes, I am sure we will head to Disney next year if not sooner. ;)

Sorry to hear that news Jackie! But sometimes life can get in the way & I'm sure you'll have a great beach trip.

I am looking forward to the beach! I have missed it! I need to smell some sea air!

NOoOoOoOoOoOo

So sorry you had to cancel the trip. It does stink being a grown up but Disney will always be there.

Look forward to hearing all about the beach and all the fun that will be had there.

I know we will have a good time at the beach -- I just need to make sure I have the right attitude.

Disney will be there which is a nice thought, and I will like updating the house a bit.

What??????

I honestly thought you were joking at first. I know you must be so disappointed , but this just means that next summer you will have an even bigger and better and longer Disney vacation.

Sadly, not a joke.

That is a bummer about canceling the DIS meets. Are you sure you can't sneak away for a long weekend in the beginning of May. Between the 6 of us East Meets West girls I am sure we can find you a bed? :rolleyes1 Just sayin'!

Tempting, but May is always so hectic with the end of school.

Anyway - I think the beach will be lovely and it certainly will be relaxing.

It will be lovely. I have been researching the area like mad! LOL!

And since you are the Charleston Princess, I need lots of suggestions for my Hilton Head trip in October. My GF's and are I staying there instead of Disney. We will be taking side trips to Savannah and Charleston. None of us have been to either city before. We are total newbies! So HELP!

Oh, I have ALL sorts of tips for you about all three places! Where do you want me to start?

When you are in Hilton Head, go eat at The Sea Shack. It is a hole-in-the-wall kind of place with the BEST seafood! My mouth starts watering just thinking about it!

As far as Charleston, I could go on and on about it. What did you want to do there?

So sorry Jackie  Being a grown-up sucks sometimes!!

thanks for sharing with us, it was a fun ride and I learned a lot!!

Thanks, Katie!

Sorry Jackie.
Having to make adult decisions aren't always fun.
I'm sure you'll be back at Disney in no time!
Looking forward to hearing about your beach vacation.

Oh, I know we will be back at Disney before I know it, and the beach will be a nice change of pace.

Awww, Jackie, I'm so sorry. I am looking forward to following along on your beach trip on Facebook -- the cottage you are staying at sounds right up my alley, too. :goodvibes

Thanks, Megan! The cottage was what sealed the deal for me -- otherwise, I think I would have really pitched a fit!

Sorry Jackie!
It can be tough being an adult!

What a great idea about entering Disney sweepstakes and how awesome that you won!!!

so sorry Jackie...I am never good at those adult decisions....just yesterday Matt and I are plotting out one more "big" Disney trip after 2012 in the next 4 years cause after that...those Disney dollars will become Collage dollars :sad1:

I'll be following along on FB w/ your beach adventure...the cottage looks darling and very fun!!!

J~

Wow, I've been away from the DIS too long. Didn't even know you had this PTR Jackie. I just saw the photo of the beach house on FB and the comments and put two and two together, then came and found your PTR. So sorry to be late for the party. Can you make a beach PTR? I hear Tybee is really nice. I have friends from Atlanta who vacation there. I know y'all will still have lots of fun.

I started a new PTR last week if you want to follow. I don't think we have any followers yet.

I'll keep up with you on FB!
