senseo ideas

I'm pretty simple when it comes to my coffee. Don't like the "crema" on top so much. I'm probably the only person in the wrold who goes into a coffee shop and orders "coffee." Just coffee, no shots of this, no sprinkles of that, no fluffing or folding; just coffee, strong and black.

They always look at me funny when I order plain coffee at Starbucks!:lmao:
I do like cream and sugar though that I add myself.

At least there are 2 of us to bewilder the clerks at Starbucks!

I just tried my usual tea bag in the Senseo and I get the same weird taste I got with the coffee. I thought the bad coffee taste was bad coffee, but now not sure because the tea has the same odd taste.

Where did you find these at WalMart? Do you remember the brand? Has anyone else gotten one somewhere else?

I got mine at Walmart as well - prefer using Dunkin Donuts in my Senseo instead of their pods :crazy2: My DH has complained about me going to D&D for a $2.00 cup every day but has given his "permission" for me to buy the grounds & brew it at home....much cheaper! Although when I do go it is just plain coffee with cream for me - no double, no foam, lofat/no fat, skim, mochacino for me! Found the "make your own pod" thing in the same area as the coffee makers and was in a (approx) 4X8 box - cost $9 I think???

Here is a picture of the one I got (didn't come with the coffee scoop) & the # on mine says model #0940201: http://www.gopresto.com/products/products.php?stock=09403

I actually now order just drip coffee at Starbucks because thier staff is so poorly trained (and there is such a high turnover rate!) that their cappuccinos and lattes taste HORRIBLE! The only thing Starbucks is good for (IMHO) is the frappaccinos and drip coffees.

Happy Day....does the Black and Decker perm. filter fit the Senseo?

The one I bought had the model #0940201 stamped on it - so I think they (Presto) must make different ones for different pod makers. It WAS the only box near the coffee makers and I just kept the receipt to return if it did not fit the Senseo but it works great and no problem fitting. I posted the link so people would know what the thing looks like.

I did make hot chocolate today for my son. It had a funny taste, I wonder if this is because the machine is new. I used fresh water.
I think I am going to flush the machine again.
THis is a lot of work for my 15 dollars:rotfl:

Thanks for all the tips everyone.

The coffee doesn't taste weird today, morning 2. It isn't good, but that strange taste is gone.

:rotfl: That made me laugh because I was debating what to do this AM.

I love our Seneso, especially since we got it free. Thanks Budget Board for the link.

I tried something new during the holidays. I added some carmel syrup (ice cream topping) to my cup, brewed the coffee and just added a little milk. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :stir: ::yes::

I went to WM yesterday and they had the pod kit mentioned. They had 2 models, on for the Black & Decker and one for the Senseo/Phillips. I also bought a bag of the dark roast pods to try. Maybe a little better, but still not as good as regular coffee. I'll try the make my own pod thing tomorrow.

Target has Archer Farms coffee pods. They come in a silver colored box, 16 in a package, each pod is individually foil wrapped. I have been trying the fair trade Organic Tierra Del Sol coffee pods. $3.99 a package. Much better than the icky bitter and watery Senseo branded ones.

I also read that you should run water thru (no pod) on one cup first to heat up the machine ( I use that small amount to make instant oatmeal). Wet down the pod before putting in the holder.

I've tried the Archer Farms ones in one cup holder and hit two cups/mug, and the two cup holder and hit the two cup/mug.
I liked the intensity of the one cup holder/two cup mug size more. Just be careful opening the machine after use it as it does seem to stick a bit.

I used the Republic of Tea bags in the Senseo. They are round pod like packets, use the one cup holder and hit two cup/mug. Smaller sized than any of the coffee ones, wet the pod a bit when setting up to get a good seal. Very good brew at the perfect temp for my yummy Good Hope red rooibos tea.

Finally restocked instant hot chocolate for my boys, easier to use than microwave or the old drip maker.
