Ok. Disney has Florida resident rates. Wouldn't it be nice if they had a senior rate? (even if its Florida or non-Florida resident). I mean think about it,,,Most seniors are on a "fixed" income and can't afford even a 1 day ticket. Anyone feel the same about this? (just curious)

I know about those threads as I posted them, but as usual no one really replied to them.

But why would they. Disney is not having trouble getting people in the parks. I find it hard to argue that this rate would make others go. (Child rates get families to go since no child goes without at least one parent also having a ticket).

What is the benefit to Disney? Disney is a company so they aren't going to offer a discount for no reason it has to at least get them more customers to be worth it. They don't really want people who don't have any money to spend to go on discounted tickets. Then they get less money for the ticket and they probably don't spend much in food or stuff either.

I have never really understood senior rates for anything that wasn't essential, so my answer would be no.

Do you truly think that *most* seniors are so poor they can't afford a one day ticket? Fixed I come doesn't mean poor. My MIL has a fixed, known, unchanging income but isn't poor. Just part of not working with raised etc.

Was just on a cruise and at least half of the 4000 guests onboard were seniors and appeared to e anything but that poor. Maybe too busy traveling the Caribbean to have interest in Disney, but that's a choice.

So there must be no poor people and I guess minimum wage working people are ok with it too. Thank my lucky stars I was able to retire at 50 and be well-off. And thats fine :)

Most seniors probably have better things to do than be around a bunch of misbehaved brats

You asked a question and are unhappy with the responses? :confused3

There are many things in this world that I will never be able to afford. It doesn't bother me one bit. Such is life.

There have been times in my life in which eating and paying rent were a problem. During those times, no discount would have been sufficient for me to vacation in WDW.

And that is what is so great about the Dis lately. A person asks a nice question. I kinda see this person with their eyes look up, finger on cheek in that hey, I wonder about and then thinks about asking.

It seems that the OP was just wondering about it. Not asking to be judged.

The question. I will have to agree, Disney has no problem getting people into the park so I don't see a discount coming for Sr.

Good question.

The OP wasn't being judged until he chimed back in with his followup remark.

I think it's a great idea and might allow grandparents to join in on a family vacation that they otherwise could not afford, whether it be them paying their own way or a parent saying, "Hey, it wouldn't cost that much more to bring Grandpa/Grandma along..." :)

It will likely never happen, but it would be nice!

LOTS of people cannot afford tickets. should they base pricing on your annual income? charge more to those of us who make 6 figures a year?! less of you have a minimum wage job?

Your leaps in logic and tendency to argue are why you have trouble getting people to reply to your threads.

I disagree. Most senior people I know and deal with are loaded, but they all want a break.

Even though I am approaching this age I never understood it either. Taken as a group senior citizens are one of, if not, the wealthiest age group in the country.

AARP considers you a senior. Cant join unless you're at least 50.

I never thought Senior Discounts were given because of lack of wealth or anything like that. I've always believed it to be out of respect to our elders and given as a perk or a Thank you.
