Hey guys! I don't post much, but I wanted to ask for some ideas/opinions.

Let me preface this with a little about myself:
I'm Michelle. I'm really into theatre and dance. I go to a performing arts high school where I study theatre. I don't play any instruments or play any sports. :cutie:

I'm taking my senior picture on the 30th and I have very vague ideas of what I want to do. I know that I do not want the typical headshot. I also do not want a picture that has anything to do with the arts, as that is the "norm" for the majority of my school's senior pictures. I'd really like some sort of theme to work off of.

I've only had two ideas:
-Cinderella-type dress with a missing shoe
-Some type of nautical/sailing picture

I'm pretty much open to anything. It does have to be school appropriate.

I know this is really bare-boned, so feel free to ask any questions!

Your help is really appreciated!

I really like the Cinderella idea. That sounds pretty.

I love the Cinderella one.
You should definatly do that. (:
It would be really cute.

the cinderella one sounds super-cute! I have to get my pictures done again because the last photographer i went to sucked lol. so im going to another one lol! I doing a beach one, and then one with all my killer whales.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Coachshoes (sorry, don't know your name!), do you mind telling me about your experience? Are you doing the same kind of pictures, but with a different photographer? Why were the pictures bad?

I wish I could pick my photographer, I'm in a show right now with someone who works as a photographer/photo editor!

Michelle I really like that Cinderella idea! Are you interested in working for Disney when you're older? Because a headshot like that would really capture their attention!

What exactly did you have in mind for the picture? Like, an entire body portrait? I'm a little confused.

I also didn't want typical senior photos, I think they're kinda tasteless and a waste of money for something that isn't unique. I had a friend who does professional photography and we met up to arrange several outfits beforehand. He did my hair and makeup, which took forever and then we drove to the outside locations we had selected before and did a bunch of shots all over the place in different outfits. They turned out much better than the generic studio shots everyone else has.

Choose things that relate to your personality.
I had a series on a cliff with normal clothes, a series by a river in western attire, and then we did a field set with a nice dress.

Practice posing, facials, and HANDS beforehand. It goes a long way. Keep everything relaxed so your hands don't look like "claws". Also, jacket shots look great on everyone, and since photos will make your arms look big in most poses, choose dark tops with 3/4 sleeves when possible.

Also consider if you prefer spring or fall for your photos.
I personally hate fall so I told my photographer to keep out any leaves and it worked fine, you can't tell what season my photos are from.

Best of luck!

I would never rule out working for Disney.

An entire body shot or from the waist up. But most likely a full body shot.

Thanks so much for sharing and giving some tips! No one wants claw-hands.

Unfortunatly my school requires us to go to a certain studio. Which is probabaly why everyone's pictures look the same. :confused3

Do you mind posting a picture or two? I would love to see them.

Michelle:

Lol No problem! First off the place didnt look that nice, i thought for $400 for a session fee this would be a real studio, but this was a deadbeat house with mold and green stuff over all of the outside equipment. lol. First off, the backgrounds he chose didnt match my outfit (a purple outfit on top of a camoflague brown and green background....)The pictures i got back had shadows ON EVERY SINGLE ONE, covering over half my face. Also, when my mom told the photographer that there was hair in my face he blantly disregarded her and kept taking picture, which definately showed in the proofs. I dont think ill be doing the same pictures, the new one that ill be going to next week has a beach so ill definately be doing that. Theres only one shot ill be repeating because it is me. Hope this helped

Coach, That stinks that you paid that much and you have to get them redone. Hopefully they will come out better next time. The beach sounds nice. :)

And thank you Emma (as well as everyone else!).
