I hadn't seen this anywhere so I wanted to let you guys know that the senior discount is not 30% on every room. I wanted to book a concierge room with the discount, and it was only a measly 10%. The CM I spoke to said the 30% is only good on standard and non-premium view rooms (i.e. courtyard, pool, etc. at the DLH and the GCH). It's also only 10% on concierge-level rooms and suites. I thought the 30% was a little too good to be true. This is probably one of the only trips we'll take with my mom, so I wanted to take advantage of the discount and splurge, but it looks we'll either be staying in a standard room or offsite. :worried:

I would call back. Last Christmas we took my Sr. Uncle and the discount was good on a premium view room at the DLH.

I do know that they only have a certain amount of rooms put aside for the discount though.

No offense meant, I currently have premium view room, 6th floor or above, DLH, Adventure tower that II will be checking into on 8/12, I have also had a discounted 30% at the Grand DTD premium view room..there are smaller discounts on conceirge and no discounts on suites.
If you got this from a CM try again...I will be calling and asking about a senior discount room in Sept, we will see what I get.

Edited: And this is what she told me..they set aside a certain number of rooms, premium, standard, etc that have levels of discounts. One those rooms are booked then you are out of luck... I asked for 3 different month's and dates and views and they were all available with the 30% senior doscount...so sounds like a bit different info unless you are booking into the time when all the rooms have been taken

Good luck,

Jack

We got the 30% senior discount on 2 premium view rooms at DLH for this September. You should call back.

I got a premium room at DLH for $240.. it was because I'm a passholder. Can I get another 30% off that? I'm thinking no but does anyone know?

No, I have asked that before, only 1 discount.

I just called today to try and book a 2013 reservation with a senior's discount but it is not out yet. Does anyone know when these are usually posted for the next year?

I never knew this existed! That's why I love this board. Just saved my folks $275 for their stay at the Grand in November. Thank you!!!:worship:

Wow! Thanks for this information. I didn't know they offered this and it might make an on-site stay possible. Do you call Disney Travel Company or do you need to call a special hotel direct number?

I figured the premium view thing was bogus because I had been quoted a 30% off rate for a premium theme park view at PP by at least 3 other CMs in the last month or so. Gotta love the inconsistency! :lmao:

I was more bummed about concierge because I assumed all the rooms were 30% off, and those are definitely not. The CM I talked to this morning said they were, but when she gave me the rate I could tell it was not 30%.

Jack, I did get a 10% off quote from a CM this morning for a 1-bedroom suite at PP, but it was too expensive for us anyway. It was just over $2,000 for 3 nights including tax.

I booked a standard view at the DLH for now. I think the important thing if you're booking the senior discount is to do it as early as possible. I started calling at the beginning of June for a standard view room at the PP for the end of October, and they were already booked. Like Jack said, once the allotment of rooms set aside for the discount is gone, you are out of luck! :)

Could never get a discount even small on a suite. With anything Disney the earlier the better. Best of luck on your stay.
