Sending out invitations

I was told somewhere around 2-3 months prior. You don't want to send them out too far in advance because you don't want people to forget about it, but also not too close so people can make arrangements to be there.

I have seen save the date magnets go out six months ahead of time. That is what I plan on doing. Magnets work so great because you have to see them everyday and then when you send out the invitations a few months later it is a great reminder!

I went to the Dollar Tree yesterday. They have large magnet sheets that you can put photos on. I'm going to print a Save the Date on the computer, take a photograph of it, print the pictures for $.19 at Walmart and attach it to the magnet sheet. The whole thing will only cost about $5 for about 20 of them.

We did the save the dates, and then sent out our invites about 2 months prior. Remember that you have to give the final count 30 days in advance for payment purposes.

I would have never thought about buying magnet sheets! That is so smart! I am filing that idea away, thanks!

We did save the date magnets 9 months before and are sending the invites 3 months before. We figure since it is a destanation thing and people have to book 30 days before or the room block goes bye bye 3 months is not too early. If they do not know if they are going to Disney by 2 months before the wedding in my opinion they are not going :rotfl2:

Were doing STD's 12 months prior. And sending the invitations out 3 months prior. I made my STD's myself too. I went to Michaels and bought already cut business card size magnets. They have a film on the front you have to peel off to stick something to it too. I got business card paper and printed the design out on the business cards and then stuck them on the sticky side of the magnets. The whole project cost me 21 dollars!!!

We sent out STD's 10 months out, Disney will send their STD's around 7 months out, and we are actually sending the invites pretty early at 4 months out.

We are doing this b/c we need to know who will be coming to WDW b/c we are also having an at home reception that people not invited to Disney and people who cannot make it to Disney will be invited to. Well, the location for the at home reception has a cap, and since it's the weekend after our Disney wedding, we need to know how many we can/ cannot invite. I am not sure if my rambling made any sense :rotfl:

Yes it did. We are thinking about doing about what you are. There is so much to consider.

I had never heard of this until Annie mentioned it yesterday. It is a cool idea.

Now, just to be funny, I think acronyms are usually appropriate. I'm not sure the STD acronym is though. HAHAHA :)

I know there definitely is! I don't really think 4 months out is too early b/c the guests will have already received 2 STDs, so you would think they would know pretty early on if they will be able to attend. As pixie08 said, if the guests don't know by 2 months out, then they probably are not going. I think this is true at 3 and 4 months out also. Good luck :)

we sent out save the dates 1 year in advance & keep guests updated with newsletters & our wedding website. i mailed our wedding invites in mid november & had a rsvp the first week in february for our march wedding. it worked well, so 4 months in advance for our custom wedding.

We sent out Save the Dates around 1 year out, as we are in the UK and i really needed to know who was likely to come. I then sent out my invites 4 months before with an RSVP date of 3 months before.
