Hi!

We are traveling this summer to Beach Club villas! (YAY!!)
There will be some first timers with us and I want to have some special goodies waiting for the kids when they check in. How can I go about this?

Ideally I would like to prepare the items at home and ship them to the resort before our trip - has anyone ever done this? Do they even allow it?
Would it be the resort directly that would be the one to contact about the arrangements??
Any input is appreciated.....
thanks

I used to do this regularly PRIOR to having my Owners Locker :) (it's the BEST!) :cool1:

I would use UPS - I had an account. Box up what it is you would like to have waiting for you upon arrival and ship about 1 week ahead of schedule. On the outside of the box I would write in black marker our name, arrival date and our reservation number. Address the box to yourself c/o the resort. I would also include in the box a return address label. Any souvenirs or items I wanted to ship back home would be packed back in the same box, sealed and label affixed. Drop your box off at bell services, and Disney and UPS do the rest.

It's easy to get an account number with UPS. Register online, or stop at your local store. I would print all my labels from my home computer/printer. Additional information you will need is box dimensions and weight. I would assume that the weight remained the same for the return shipment.

For us, the cost of shipping down and the return became considerable with a 2 visit a year schedule. I have my Owners Locker for about the same amount of money. Plus, the sight of that big purple box puts a huge smile on my face!:yay: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

While I am familiar with UPS only, I would expect that the FedEx procedure is about the same.

A goody that you can send ahead for the kids is this:

Only clear inflatable rings are allowed in SAB (this is so the lifeguards can see underneath the inflatables). When we were there in August, there was a child who had one of her own...her mother purchased it before they arrived.
I researched it when I got home and found it on this website.

http://www.parpool-spa.com/Page/Toys-Games/Inflatable_Pool_lounges.html

It is the 15th item down on the page.

They are made by Sevylor (same company that makes the rentables at the poolside store). It has a mesh seat in it so DD9 can lounge in it.
It was about $19.00 with shipping. When you consider $10.00/day to rent, it pays for itself in 2 days-we are going to be staying at the Beach Club for 11 days in June so this is a huge savings!

I take my box of cereals/snacks, etc... to a local shipping store so I can see who was the better price/ delivery date (US mail, UPS, FedEx...). I use my name and check-in date c/o the hotel and I try to have it delivered one day ahead of time so it's there right when I check in. I love doing this as it's cheaper than the 2nd checked bag fee on some airlines now!

Each resort may differ on where they hold it when you get there. At BWV once, we had to get it by 4pm b/c they held packages in their business office and it closed at 4pm.

I didn't think you could bring your own tube anymore to SAB. I thought you had to use the ones to rent.

The tube has to be clear...that was what the lifeguard told us in August, unless this has changed since then.

The SAB lifeguards' policy on this seems to change like the wind.

Last summer we spent 10 nights at BCV (July 28 - Aug. 6) & we brought our own clear tubes, just as we had done (and used) in the summer of 2007. Well, this trip, we were not allowed to use them. I had checked w/ two lifeguards. I watched other families get told the same thing during our trip.

It keeps on changing based on which lifeguards are on duty. We had no problem this past Aug/Sept. with our clear tubes. Also, you can use your own tubes in the quiet pools as their are no lifeguards on duty there, so no one can tell you anything  We did and saw many other families who did the same.

Can families with young kids swim in the quiet pools or is there age restriction? This will be our 1st time at BCV - we usually stay at OKW - looking for a change of scenery.... I'm pretty excited actually... and sending alon the tubes and pool toys is a great idea - if we can use them!

My plan is to make 4 gift baskets - one for each child - with some disney dollars in them, maybe some stickers, a t-shirt, etc. and then have them given to the children when the families check in. That's do-able right?

I also noticed on disney florist.com, they have a welcome to disney world gift basket with mickey ears, an autograph book, and a pen - that is a cute gift - I always end up buying those 3 items on the 1st day anyway - $30 doesn't seem that far off on price either.....:confused3

There isn't any age restriction, other than younger children need an adult with them. The quiet pools are named as such because of the lack of theming. They are also called leisure pools. No lifeguards, no slides, just a pool.

Just a note...

It may be that you are charged $5 a box. On the resort boards there are reports that Disney has outsourced package processing and this charge will soon be standard. Not a clue if they are correct.

Now, I don't think the front desk is going to unpack your box and give them the four baskets. All they are going to get is the box you shipped.
