I am traveling with autistic DS, 18. Any opinions on putting him on Star Tours, which I absolutely cannot ride, and getting him at the end? Can this be done, or should I just tell him "sorry, wait until next time",? I get sick on virtual reality rides. OK on the mild version of M:S.

I'm sure if you explained this to the CM they'd let you get him settled then go straight through the doors and wait in the corridor on the other side, but I've never tried it myself. Someone else here will probably know more about this than me, but it wouldn't hurt to try talking to the CM at the entrance to the ride.

Good luck :)

You can also ask for a "test flight". As long as they are not using all six simulators, they will take you to an unused simulator and run everything except the motion. You would effectively be seated in a 40 seat theater with a movie, lights and sounds but no motion.

I took my auttistic DS by myself to WDW. I cannot do fast moving rides!!
CM's were great. I accompanied him directly to the actual ride - then told the CM he would be riding alone. I was directed to the exit and waited for him to get off. Worked perfectly!!

Thanks. DH said when they got on Star Tours and the CM said "NO cell phones, etc.", DS chimed in "and no drugs" which the Cm wondered about. Guess I'll make sure they know about his anti-drug policy. :rotfl2:

Just close your eyes on the ride and you will be fine. I get sick too and I was fine once I did that.

OK on the mild version of M:S.

If you're OK on the mild version of MS, I think you would be fine on Star Tours. The two have lot of similarities. I can do Star Tours with no problem but the mild version of MS actually made me dizzy. I tend to think Star Tour is the tamer of the two.
