you know, that fire the newbie WISHers seem to have! I think mine went out about six months ago. I can't tell you the last week I journaled every day, I start well and good and by mid-afternoon I'm counting in my head or snickling a little of this and telling myself it's not enough to count. slap my hands! something!

i'm starting to get back into the right thinking mode - yes I can do this, yes I will lose these last stubborn pounds again and this time keep them off, yes my jeans will fit comfy soon!!!!!

but then I cave...........how can I stop myself and step back before sabotaging my day/evening???? why oh why???

today is a new day and i'm so ashamed to say I'm starting over once again and journaling EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth. My flex week starts over tomorrow and I'm getting back into a wed WI and accountability here on WISH

I feel your pain! I've been doing the same thing all summer - start again, start again, start again. Boy, does that get old!

I signed up for the August exercise challenge - I'm going to exercise 1000 minutes in August. That works out to about 32 minutes a day. It seems to be just the motivation I needed. I'm doing the exercise which makes me more likely to stick to my eating plan - why exercise and then pile on the calories, right? It doesn't always work, but it works more often than doing nothing, which is what I did all summer! :p

You CAN get back in the game! You've also got the advantage of experience. Try to remember those days when you WERE on fire - what worked well for you?? Get back to those basics and you'll find that fire again!

Just take it one day at a time. Make it through the day. The next day I look bacj and say one more day. The motivation is a little better, because I don't want to waste the day I did before. I'm now on about 2.5 weeks of being good and I feel SO much better about myself!

You can do it today!
 
You KNOW I have been there! You have always been there for me, and now it is my turn to be there for you!

You know you can do this, you have been successful. Think about what made you want to do this in the first place. What motivated you first? Is that reason still valid, or have you conquered that?

If you have conquered it~~ look for another reason. Your health and happiness are big ones!!! Just think how happy you will be when you reach your goal.

For me, one thing that helped was I got rid of my trigger food. Potato chips. Can't have them. I just know that one chip leads to one box of chips and I choose not to do that.

Also, the labor day challenge started right around that time. It was something that motivated me, and I thought... Yes, this time I can and WILL do it!!!

Today marks Day 248 on the South Beach Diet for me. There are times when I get down and don't feel motivated to exercise or post in my journal. I remember a piece of advice from another board. It went something like this: Do you always WANT to go to work, or pay bills or clean your house or do laundry? No. Why do you do those things? You do them because as unglamorous as they are, they are necessary things that MUST be done. Eating on plan and exercising are no different.

It would be nice if from day one through the day we hit goal we could be on fire, excited and motivated but I don't think it works that way, at least it hasn't for me. Sometimes like the cliche says, you have to "fake it until you make it". Or like Nike says, "Just do it"!

It sounds like you are close to your goal and I know you can make it!!!! What helps me is to keep pushing myself and challenging myself. Today I complete a 30 day stay off the scale challenge with some other intrepid WISHers. It hasn't been an easy 30 days for any of us but we have done it! When I bought my new black "power" suit, it was snug and I had a function I wanted to wear it to so I worked out twice a day for two weeks because I wanted that suit to fit comfortably on me. Know what? It did!!! I felt fabulous in it.

I have also joined the August exercise challenge and the labor day challenge. I also completed a 5 day ab challenge where in addition to your normal daily work out, you do an intense ab work out. My point is I try to find ways to push and challenge myself so I'm not bored. I do think boredom is a motivation killer while stretching yourself outside your comfort zone is a motivation enhancer.

I hope even one thing I babbled about helps you out!!!! :)
 
My intent was to give you some motivation, but as I read the other posts, instead I got some. Typical of WISH!!! : ) I don't think I can say it any better than these WISHers already have! : )

It was fun chatting with you in the WISH chat last night.

I'm glad you're getting back into the WISH of things. As a WISH & WW newbie, it'll be nice to read some of your WW insight.

I've joined two of the challenges (Labor Day weight loss & the 1000 min exercise challenge) and it's been a great motivator for me. I can't wait to add the new clippie to my signature.

It's nice to see you on the boards.......

((Vija)) -- you are a doll -- this is what I needed to see/hear. In the beginning of my journey I wanted to do this b/c I didn't like the size I had grown into, or the way I felt (both in my appearance and sluggish/tired) and that desire overcame my desire to pick and snack and graze. Now i'm better with how I look (not all the way there, but better) and I need to concentrate on how much better i really did feel, and do feel when I eat healthy as a norm. that's digging deep for me, to a place i don't normally roam.......but one I need to bring up to the surface

and cyber high five to Vija! I'm soooo proud to see you are sporting a 15 lb clippie!!!!!!!!

tonight and tomorrow I'm going to really think about how I can challenge myself to the next level and rekindle my fire. thanks:wave2:

cruising -- it was nice to chat again -- gotta make that a weekly routine to get me started on my week right! you will be very successful on WW, I just know it! btw -- my "deposit asking" mood setting must've worked, check out my siggie!!!!!
