I've posted here before when our trip was originally scheduled for Jan of '06, but due to several things it ended up being delayed till Nov. We made our reservations last night and will be at Disney Nov. 1-6 @ Fort Wilderness Cabins. The last time I was at Disney was on our honeymoon 10 years ago.

I've been reading the forum and I think this would be the best place to post. If not let me know where I should direct these questions, K?

  • We have 4 children (ages 8,6,4 and 1 at the time of the trip) would pal Mickey be suggested?

  • if you stayed at Fort Wilderness did you rent a golf cart. Pros/Cons. We will have our own vehicle with us.
  • How can I find the operation hours during that time of our visit. I assume they will be on a shorter schedule at that point
  • we have the dining plan with our reservations, do we need to go ahead and begin making reservations regarding meals? We are considering Mickey's BBQ (if it still runs at that time of year) but other than that it would be typical meals in the park...do we need to make arrangements for any sit down meals

I think that's a start. LOL off to read my ''unofficial guide'' some more.

1 On wdwinfo.com (DIS Home at the top of the DISboards page) will have the park hours for November once they are available, they have park hours up thru October now so November should be out soon, next month maybe. Just look at the left side of the page and under Theme Parks it says: Park Hours/Shows. If you go there now you can click on November 2005 hours to see the hours from last year, they should be similar this year.

2 For any sit down resturants you want to go to ADR's (Advanced Dining Reservatons) can be made 180 days in advance, I would plan now where you want to go, make your ADR's as soon as you can and then when you get there you can change them if you want to. We did this a few times, we had ADR's for 5:00 and we were enjoying the park and didn't want to eat yet so we just went to Guest Relations at the park or call Disney Dining and checked to see if we could bump back the time. Unless you are going Thanksgiving weekend you should have no problems though even if you did wait to make ADR's but I would book sooner than later just to be safe.
I believe Mickey's BBQ as well as the Hoop-dee-doo and the Spirit of Aloha Dinner shows (and I just checked golf cart rentals) can all be reserved 365 days (1 year) in advance. The BBQ runs March thru december. Payment is made when you order the ticketsand there is a 48 hour cancellation policy.

Hope this helps.

We stayed in FW cabins back in 1998 but we used our own car when driving to the parks. Parking was free since we were staying on-site. With four children you may just find it less of a hassle - at least we did.

We did rent a golf cart for a few days and it was good for getting around FW. One concern I would have is whether or not you could all fit in it. With your youngest on your lap you could probably do it. I don't think you will need it the whole visit though so see if its worth the $$$ once you get there. We found the bus for getting around within FW to be ok but we were so busy at the parks and Typhoon Lagoon that we didn't do a lot within FW besides the Hoop dee Doo and a few trips to the pool, which wasn't that far away.

The campfire at night with Chip & Dale is fun and that takes place at FW. Your children would probably enjoy the Hoop dee doo as well but I dont know if that is part of the dining plan or not.

Have a great time!

Thank yall! So far I think we are going to use our van and just drive to the parks other than the MK. We can do the boat ferry there on the day/s/ we do the MK. We had planned to do the campfire/singalong and movie a couple of nights. We looked into the Hoop Dee Doo and the Back Yard BBQ we are going to just pay for it and use our dining plan at other places. I can't remember now what made us settle on the Back Yard BBQ as opposed to the Hoop Dee Doo?

I'm so excited. And I'm sure this is said countless times...but let me add my applause for the work that has gone together to make up this site. It is truly a wealth of information.

So glad you mentioned the boat/ferry to MK....I completely forgot about it and it is the best way to travel!!! It was fun to ride and very convenient. No matter where we are staying, on our trips to Hoop dee doo we always head over there by the boat as well.

Have a great time!
