He could "get away" with shorts and a tshirt on any night (semi-formal, or otherwise). DCL doesn't enforce the suggested dress code.My DH does not want to wear a suit on the cruise. It's non negotiable for him. Formal is off the table for us. However, could he get away with dress pants, shirt and tie for semi formal? He is a scootch but I get it. TIA!
You're welcome.Alrighty then, dress pants, shirt and tie it is! Thanks.
Yeah, I figured she meant the Main Dining Room.Unless it's Palo or Remy...
Yeah, I figured she meant the Main Dining Room.
But, even in Palo, he can "get away" with just a dress shirt & tie. No jacket required. I think Remy does require a jacket for dinner.
Yeah, I caught the semi-formal night after I posted.
He'd need pants too in Palo...But yeah, I don't think they require coats in Palo.
Figured it was good to clarify in case someone else read and thought that it was ok in Palo & Remy. Just clarifying.![]()
A nice shirt/pants is fine for formal night too, so don't feel like you need to skip formal night in the MDR. The formal/semi formal is optional in the MDR's--it just gives people who want to dress up days to do so. You will see people in all sorts of dress on formal/semi formal night--from tees/jeans to gowns/tuxes. DH had black khakis, burgundy button down shirt, and a sports coat for formal nights--no tie. Semi formal for DH might have been khakis and a polo, or a button down shirt...can't remember and I have no pics from that night, lol.I think, if I said no pants he might give it a try lol He said he would go to semi formal. He even offered to wear the tie even though I said a nice shirt will do. It's only taken me 34 years to get him that way!

My husband is also not a suit-faovorable guy, so we had the nice polos and dockers in tow. However, I though he could get away with nice sandals with this outfit in Palo (he's a size 14 so we were trying to save packing space) and it was a no-go. They require closed toe shoes, and running shoes will not cut it either. He ended up having to wear borrowed shoes at the restaurant.
this is why we went to the brunch...DH also only wears sandals (birkenstocks all year round, also size 14 shoe)..
anyway, we did the palo brunch so that he could just wear his dockers/polo shirt and sandals...
where did he find size 14 shoes to borrow????????????
.
Funny thing about Palo brunch on the Fantasy in 2014 -- we entered behind women wearing capris and sandals. I entered wearing dress slacks and a pair of crocs -- because they were the only thing that I could fit my foot brace into. The girl who stepped up to seat us took one look at my shoes and actually started to say something -- until I lifted my pant leg and showed her the brace. I honestly didn't expect them to be so selectively picky LOL
that is selective...
well i now almost exclusively wear the ugliest crocs made...the plain old beach ones...
every single day....though i do have a pair of sort of fancy croc sandals for weddings and such..
but those ugly croc beach shoes have saved my knees from what doctors claimed was certain surgery....(knock on wood)..
so i'll go with ugly over surgery any day...![]()

Palo had men's shoes in every size! I was surprised they had 14's too!
