Selling points instead of whole membership?

I would prefer to be closer to the parks (we are currently at AKR) so I was wondering if it was possible to sell some of my AK shares so I could buy at possibly GF. I do not want to sell my whole membership as I love being a DVC member. I just want a different home base.

Any suggestions for me as to how I could do this without selling my whole membership?

Thanks :):goodvibes

All you can do is sell a full contract. If you only have one contract, you cannot break it up into smaller contracts. Only Disney can do that. Just one reason why people purchase smaller contracts, so they can sell one smaller contract instead of all their points.

You can only sell your contracts how you purchased them. If all your points are on a single contract, you would have to sell the entire contract.

This might defeat the purpose because of closing costs, but you could sell your large contract and buy a smaller one at the same resort to replace it.

Now is the time to correct your mistakes. Use your AKV points to stay at all of the resorts that you think you might like to call home. Take a fact finding vacation, split stays at several resorts.

Take a look at the UY that you bought, is it the correct UY?

If it is the best UY, you can do an add-on with the resort that you really want, then sell the AKV contract.

If your UY isn't the best, buy a new contract either direct or resale for the best UY, new account and member account, then sell AKV and retire old account and member number.

IMO owning a home resort that doesn't do it for you doesn't make sense. Life is too short, love your resort, love your Disney vacation, love life!

As mentioned, you can only sell contracts as they are so your only option is to sell and rebuy. You could add on at VGF as a member, then sell AKV and rebuy there with a smaller amount. We have done that and sold VWL, our first contract, when we knew in our hearts BLT was it. We now own BWV as well since that is our other favorite resort...

We actually just sold our contract at BWV and are in the process of selling our VWL contract. We liked both resorts (VWL moreso than BWV) but LOVE BCV and BLT. We decided that this is the time to sell, especially with resale prices being so high right now. Eventually we'll add on somewhere one more time (hopefully the Poly). If you aren't happy with what you own, even if you like it, it's at least worth looking into somewhere you may like better.
